I've been here the past 2 years for eye exams, previously at Vision Works, so this is definitely a different experience. I first came to definitive vision after pain in my eye led me to seek optometry care that was near my work. They were able to get me in right away in an emergency appointmen. When I met with Dr. Heiss, she was quick to tell me what was wrong with my eye and offered solutions to help. She gave me some eye wipes to trial which worked wonderfully. I then came back for my annual eye exam at a different location and everyone was helpful. I like that it's a smaller place, but it's certainly more expensive than anywhere I've been in the past, so that's kind of a bummer. I love the eyeglass selection, they're very stylish and unique. This year, I decided to take my favorite frames and put updated lenses in them, I love that that's an option. I'd recommend coming here, because it feels like a posh boutique and everyone is helpful and friendly, but the cost might be a bit prohibitive for people. The office staff was very helpful in walking me through the steps as a new patient and confirming the cost of the exam after insurance. The paperwork was minimal and the exam was easy peasy. They encouraged me to try out the new brand of contacts they prescribed before ordering -- it was nice to not be pressured into buying glasses or contacts on the spot. When I was ready to order, I called back and was very pleased with the gentleman helping me place my order. My new contacts shipped to my door within a week. Great experience. I've been here twice for contacts and glasses. First, the eye exam is noninvasive, so no dilation of the pupils. They provide state-of-the-art technology to examine your eyes. I was amazed by the new technology. I've had glasses since I was a three, and I can only imagine how much better my exams would have gone if this technology was available then. The technician was informative and explained what each test was examining. I also felt everything was clean and hygienic. Second, Dr. Elwood is great! He listens to me and asks questions. He is very patient when I try to explain my eye issues or concerns. He pulled up the pictures of my eyes and explained everything he looks at when he does the analysis of my eyes. I felt very confident that my eyes are still healthy after my examination. His prescription for my progressive lenses was excellent! Lastly, the staff working with glasses is wonderful. I pick out some glasses that I loved and they came in after a week. However, once they came in I noticed they kept sliding down my nose. I went back twice that day to get them adjusted. The next morning I decided these glasses weren't going to work me because they kept falling off my nose. The staff was completely understanding and have been working with me to find a pair that works for my narrow nose bridge. Hopefully I'll have new glasses soon! read more

I was very pleased with my experience as a new patient. I wasn't kept waiting, the exam was thorough, and staff were VERY helpful in the all-important frame selection. This place has a great glasses frame selection! Lots of nice brands like MODO. It's a really nicely curated collection, much better than what other shops have. The staff is very friendly and helpful so you feel taken care of and helped. I will say that they are sticklers about policies so just watch for that if you change your mind on anything! read more

I called and somehow made it on the list for an eye exam same day. I think its just because they are a newer establishment. I use VSP and found them on the website for approved coverage. Since I usually just find the closest eye Dr. to my location at the time, I consider myself lucky with this roll of the dice. Everyone was courteous and very efficient. I was in and out in about a half an hour I'd say. Given, I only ordered contacts and I knew the type I usually get, I'm a pretty easy sell. They're price on contacts was very reasonable. I would definitely return next year or sooner if my insurance turns over at the beginning of the year and I can use it for glasses! read more

I got a new pair of glasses here a while ago & didn't even realize how excellent the experience was until I had the misfortune of going somewhere else (Stanton- avoid!). The Dr at Definitive was very professional and he worked with me to balance out my need for eye care and not spend a fortune. I got new lenses and had them put into an old pair of frames I still liked. I almost regretted this choice because they have an excellent selection of designer frames. I wear glasses everyday. My prescription is so high even people at the doctor's office sometimes raise a brow. This means I need glasses sturdy enough to hold my coke bottle lenses & not break when I constantly switch between glasses and sunglasses. Also, I still want to look stylish. Definitive has lots of options for high quality frames and the service is exceptional as well. If I have any further eye care needs the rest of the time I'm in Omaha, I will return to Definitive. read more

Definitive Vision is a professional organized choice for your eye care needs. I walked by and noticed the office and was wearing some glasses that didn't suit me. Going in, the staff was very friendly and tried to fit me in as soon as possible. They got me in a week later and I got the exam for contact and glasses and had the specs back in a week! Beautiful Tom Ford glasses and some trial contacts. I went back six months later to purchase another pair of ray bans with equal success and excellent advice and help that went above and beyond any normal optometrist experience i've ever had. The space is stylish and fun to see, the people are cool and fashionable with great eyewear on to inspire your decisions, and the vibe is just good. Rather than spend money on crappy glasses online that look cheap and fall apart - get some customized eyewear with a brick and mortar local establishment that actually gives a crap. They even waited an extra five minutes past close for me to show up - AND looked happy to see me! amazing experience - i want to bring these people my friends so they know buying glasses can be fun instead of a giant pain in the keister. read more

With a crazy high Rx going without either was not an option. She receive my Rx from California, filled it, and made sure I had the lens when I arrived. I thought I could deal until the next day. I've been going to Dr. Elwood for several years now and he does a great job. They are flexible and work well with my schedule as far as fitting me in each year. It's always a fairly quick appointment, which I appreciate, but Dr. Elwood always takes the time to answer all my questions when I'm there. I can't say enough good things about Definitive Vision! Dr. Elwood and Alex do a great job! They only stay open late one night each week, so it took us a couple of weeks to get an appointment. However, we didn't mind since we were the ones without any flexibility. They were ready for us right away, and the exams were quick. Our eye insurance covered a good portion of the Exam and glasses/lenses, so it wasn't too bad out of pocket for two designer pairs of glasses (Nike and Kate Spade). They take about a week to 10 days to come back after your eye exam, so really not bad at all. We've recommended them to friends, and they have had similar experiences! We will continue to go back here for our yearly appointments! read more

Dr. Elwood is absolutely amazing! He's the kindest, gentlest optometrist and always does a thorough, thoughtful eye exam but still gets you in and out of there pretty quickly. For being a small shop, they have a fairly good selection of eyeglasses and sunglasses, but they can be significantly pricier than big name shops like Lenscrafters, etc. The one downside to being a small shop is that it does take awhile for glasses to come in, since they have to send them out and aren't doing them there. I stumbled upon Definitive Vision by accident when I was walking through midtown crossing. I feel so fortunate that I did! The glasses selection was amazing- everything is stylish and modern. Some are definitely funky and cool! The office manager does not like to order more than one of each pair, which means that in our little town of Omaha it will be rare to bump into someone else wearing the same glasses, which I love. The office manager went above and beyond to help me find the perfect pair of glasses and let me take as much time as I need to decide what pair to get. It's hard there because there are so many great options! As far as getting my eyes checked- I was just as satisfied. Dr. Elwood was very friendly, and he has amazing technology in his office; because of that I can see better with my new pair of contacts than I have been able to see in years. Efficient and thorough exam; they have a way to take photos of retina without having to use dilation drops that blur vision for hours-really appreciate being able to get right back to work without those. Frame selection is good; lots of the latest & trendiest styles. Not many budget priced options (most $200-270) so if your eye plan doesn't cover it all just know you'll be paying some out of pocket. I'd grown tired of making an appointment at my previous optometrists office, only to be kept waiting till the doctor saw me, then feeling like I was being rushed when he did finally show up. He has a very calming demeanor, and is very patient and informative. The office is clean and modern, and, from what I can tell, has state of the art equipment. In fact, at this office, it is now no longer necessary to have your pupils dilated for the glaucoma test as they have equipment that can check without dilation - this made me very happy!
