This will be the biggest call I have made in a very long time but here goes... best brunch I have ever had. There! I said it! While on a weekend away in Red Hill we checked Yelp for a nearby brunch place and found Dee's. The place was busy but not annoyingly so when we arrived at around 10am on a Saturday. The coffees were... ok, but the food, OH MY, the food. I ordered the 'delicately smashed' rosemary potato and pumpkin, with garlic aioli, poached eggs and crispy pancetta. I am drooling just reminiscing about it. It was magical. A truly hearty dish that feels a bit like a roast dinner for breakfast but you will regret nothing! My partner ordered the smashed avo, which from all accounts was equally as delectable. They offer a variety of foods and wines to take home too - perfect if you live in the area or staying nearby and can't be effed cooking. Dee's Kitchen is probably the best brunch place down that side of Melbourne. Get involved! read more

Super hungry but wanting more than just eggs on toast we drove over from rosebud to dromana. Just from looking at the mouthwatering cakes and baked goods on display we were sold. The menu had great depth with plenty of inspiring options in both the sweet and savoury sides. After some debate because we wanted to try so many things on the menu we opted for the shashuka and hot cakes. The shashuka was a Middle eastern inspired dish, poached eggs baked in tomato sauce with spinach and yoghurt. We opted to add chorizo which is never a bad decision. It also came with a warm round pita that provided a tasty way to mop up runny yolks and tomato salsa. The ricotta hot cakes were superb. Sweet but naturally so. They were topped with Greek yoghurt, fresh berries and drizzled with honey and crushed pistachio. The texture was excellent and flavours worked really we'll together. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. Coffee was excellent too and service was friendly. The also have a great range of breads, deli goods and wine that you can take home. Think I'll be coming back on my next trip to the peninsula. read more

Turn down Pier Street if you are in the main strip of Dromana shops for this gem of a cafe. It's a bizzare feel, it's like some grabbed a cafe from Collingwood, Brunswick are and just placed it in Dromana. The vibe is great, staff are friendly and the options are plentiful. At 11:30am on the Sunday of the QBD long weekend they were packed, I came in only for take away coffees but had to dodge my way through a sea of waiting patrons at the door. By the time I made my way to the counter, with some sneering looked from waiting patrons I ordered a few coffees (beans of Coffee Supreme) and some brownies. The baristas were working like lunatics, so many coffee orders... so little time. I waited about 10-15 minutes to get my coffees which speaks more to how busy these guys actually are! I told my friends who were at a holiday house up the road, so we decided to venture out there for a late lunch around 3:30pm. The crowds had left and there was plenty of seats available as they food options were now limited with the kitchen closed. Salads or Focaccias.... PASS! read more

Yum yum yum!!!! We had brunch here and both ordered the potato and pumpkin Rosemary hash with poached eggs to avoid food envy. It was fantastic!!!! Why isn't pumpkin on more breakfast menus??? Substituting pumpkin and potato for bread seems so right! We also went healthy with Apple, cucumber, mint and beetroot juice. Which was nice but you could taste how healthy it was. And then a very nice skinny latte. I was also very taken with the other food on offer and wished I could head back for lunch! There were some delicious looking salads and some takeaway treats like moussaka that looked fantastic. read more

I love, love, love the potato and pumpkin rosemary hash. I've come to this place about once a year over the last three years. Always getting the same thing. The dish has changed in presentation on the plate and its become more slick but personally I think it has lost a little bit of the crunchy deliciousness of having more elements in contact with hot pan and getting nice and crunchy. Whomever wrote that this place has services issues... Well, perhaps they took that on and fixed it. Everyone we met with this morning was wonderful and chatty and looked after us. Add in some excellent food, and it's a great stop for breakfast. Oh, and be sure to check out their takeaway case. Yum! read more

Get your smashed avo elsewhere. Rude service. Waited 40 minutes for two juices to only receive one. Waited 50 minutes for some simple avo toast and muesli. And to top it off they charged us extra on our bill. OK food, not worth the wait. Wouldn't recommend to my dog read more

Despite a few teething problems, Dee's is a welcome addition to the Dromana shops. In the early days the wait on coffee was unacceptable, but then it arrived along with a great food order and all was forgotten! Now Dee's seems to be humming along nicely. The menu has had a few minor tweaks. Serves are generous and delicious. And I can never leave without a takeaway piece of their amazing baklava! Dee's also offers takeaway deli produce including a delicious selection of cheeses (on the pricey side, but worth it). A great place to read the paper and watch the world go by or enjoy a drink and nibble as the sun goes down. read more

Went for lunch last Saturday. It was quite nice with a tasty vegan option. The spicy carrot dip. Went for breakfast on Sunday. Bloody shambles. After they booted a couple off a table to fit the four of us, we sat and enjoyed the filthy looks of the ol fella enjoying his now smaller table. After a huge wait with no apology the waitress wandered over. Apparently "I want toast with avocado and no butter" apparently means "give me toast with a small amount of sliced avocado, apricot jam, butter, and charge me for all of that". Dee has gone and this place is now called Pier Street Kitchen. It's an impressive place. It serves beautiful creamy coffee that is expertly made. I had poached eggs on seeded toast with Somerville bacon and baked beans. The dish looked a little ordinary which belied the flavour. The bacon also looked pedestrian but was seriously tasty. The baked beans looked good and were really really good. This is an outstanding local eatery. Ticks every box. Great food, great coffee etc. prices are reasonable too. Highly recommended. read more

I was actually quite excited and interested to have breakfast at 'Dee's Kitchen' since I've heard a few good thing about this place. Although my interest and excitement lessened whilst waiting for my food for a whole of 1 hour and 15 minutes. They were nice enough to notify us that they weren't going to charge us for the drinks due to the long wait, then to receiving the bill we noticed that we were being charged for the juices that we ordered. We kindly told the waitress that we weren't going to be charged for the drinks, and she carelessly said "I spoke to our manager, she said the juices will remain on the bill, although they've taken the coffees off the bill", shrugged her shoulder, gave me the rudest and dirtiest look I have ever received from a staff member while being served and walked inside without even looking back. I think this place needs to re-evaluate their staff members or simply do something about their disgusting customer service. read more

I think this cafe may be resting of the back of some good reviews. When I visited and ordered the signature pumpkin and sweet potato dish, I had the distinct impression it had been sitting around for an hour or so. The food wasn't hot, nor particularly tasty. Food is nice. But service is appalling. Waited 45 minutes for breakfast. When we complained we were told we should have spoken up earlier and then asked if it was worth the wait. Friends of owners were served immediately while we had to wait. Our dining experience ended with the owner asking my son if he wanted to be cool like him. So whilst the food is nice, it definitely wasn't worth the wait or the rude attitude!! First & last time. read more
