The menu is simple, packed with fresh, healthy options as well as more substantial. Most of us order eggs in some form or manner. My friend orders an avocado mash with bacon. Her husband orders scrambled eggs on toast, while I opted for poached. My son is the only one who chooses a short rib dish for breakfast. Coffees are a must and the ones here are stellar. Choose the single origin offerings. Our server was delightful. I wish I had gotten his name!

It's the kind of place where you can catch up with friends for a long brunch or treat yourself to a solo coffee and feel totally at ease. The food? Next level. Every dish is beautifully presented and packed with flavour. You can tell there's genuine thought and creativity behind the menu--there's something for everyone, whether you're after something nourishing, indulgent, or somewhere in between. Plus, their coffee game is strong! The staff truly make the experience. Friendly, attentive, and always up for a chat or a recommendation - they go above and beyond to make you feel special. It's that warm, personal touch that keeps you coming back. And can we talk about the Boozy Brunch? Absolute genius. Mimosas, good food, and great vibes - what more could you want? If you're in Mornington and haven't visited The Winey Cow yet, you're missing out. It's everything you want in a café and then some. We'll definitely be back (again and again)!

We managed to just scrape in here before it closed with some friends of mine when we were exploring…read moreMornington Coffee Shops one Saturday afternoon. Since it was closing we didn't get to go inside, and simply ended up sitting outside while waiting for out takeaway coffees. The coffees themselves were all that bad, and I guess that is what counts when it comes to a coffee shop though. It does have a reasonable atmosphere, and seems to fit well in the semi-rural seaside atmosphere that happens to be Mornington. It was a nice place, and it was a shame that we didn't get the opportunity to spend more time here.

Mornington is a cold, desolate place devoid of any kind of pre-octogenarian life. To find a decent coffee in this god forsaken backwater of time is rarer than a finding a virgin with an arts degree. Walk down the main street and be awed at the strange chronological stagnation, the bizarre effects of entropy upon the human body. Due to the large amount of oldies enjoying themselves in this quaint village way down past Franganistan, the coffee trade has been somewhat skewed. Those of you whom have ever worked as a barista will be more than familiar with the baby-boomer-stay-at home-wife-class customer, who rarely ever stays at home. Instead, these listless, pithy females embrace their lack of responsibility once the kids have moved out and spend their time traipsing about cafes and speaking very loudly about private school tuition. Making a coffee for such an individual is rarely as simple as it sounds- it more so involves making several successive coffees as they are venomously returned to you over and over- "It's not *HOT* enough!". Having very little to worry about, and having their feelings abraded away long ago, about the only warmth they can still sense is horribly burnt coffee scalding its way down their leathery throats. The patronage of Mornington's coffee shops consists mainly of the above, and as such it's rather hard to find a coffee served at the right temperature by a capable barista. Coffee Traders, however, gives two fingers and a raspberry to these decrepit oldsters, and serves coffee with a cavalier smile. On offer is a myriad of house and foreign blends, single origin and daily highlights. The menu drily explains the consistent temperature of the coffee they serve and why it is not served any hotter. Coffee traders, it seems, houses the only decent beans in Mornington. The wait can be long, but worth it. Whilst there I tried a Kelaguar Heights ristretto- pleasantly sweet and nutty with an undertone of woody bitterness, very nice. Coffee Traders is a nexus of sanity in an ocean of terrible, awful coffee. House blends start from $10 for 250g beans. Enjoy the comfortable outside seating and admire the vine-strewn face of this characteristic coffee bar in the sun with some friends, just remember to bring a book.

4.1 Milkbar & Co is…read morea 4.1 in my book. It is agreeably fitted out in the modern style. This is apparently the result of a recent renovation which has been thoughtfully and tastefully executed. The style is good but is in no sense overdone. It feels and is pleasant. It helps the mood too that good music was playing as well when we arrived. The food was great. My beef brisket burrito was recommended by our server. This was a very sound recommendation because it's a cracking dish. It's a really good thoughtful brekkie brunch dish and one that'd be very at home st any of the well rated Melbourne brunch cafes. I could barely fault it. It had just the right amount of good flavoursome meat. This was accompanied by Perfect melted cheese and great black beans. The salsa was a beauty too. Finely chopped and very flavoursome as well with even some carefully chargrilled corn. Only the bed of rocket seemed a bit rough and ready and even then my judgement might be a bit harsh. I was worried the dish might be too small when it first arrived but again I was wrong as the size ended up being spot on. There was a slight understated spice to the dish which I thought was lovely. Sadly I didn't get the chance to make enquiries about that. This was the best of this style of dish that I've had for quite a while. It really was very nicely composed and beautifully made and cooked. It had me slightly in awe actually and I'd have great trouble ordering anything else if and when I come here again. My partner had the ham cheese baguette which she enjoyed very much. She was particularly taken with the bread which were were advised came from Laurent. Our coffees to finish were excellent too. Up there with the best. So why is this place not rated higher? We can only speculate but we did find the service here a bit languid. We had to chase a server to put an initial order in. My dish was put down roughly in front me of dislodging some of the carefully arranged garnish. My milk in a jug with my coffee had little blacks things in it too. None of this is serious stuff. I gained an impression that there were a few details holding things back. We will definitely come here again. If they iron a few of the little details out, this place could easily score more than 4.

If I ever go back to Australia again, I am 100% certain I will come back here. The maple Canadian bacon alone is worth the trip to this small cafe. As an American, I definitely cannot go back to eating the bacon we have there after I've this. I hope that many more people will be able to find out about this small eatery because it's totally worth it.
