It was so fun! perfect balance of rapids and lazy river points. water level was high so it took about 3ish hours to go the whole distance. Company drove you there and picked you up with towels, it was a nice touch!

This place is a jewel and only two hours from Boston. We've been the last two years and had absolutely incredible time each year. The river water is exceedingly clean and wildlife is all over the river. Last year we saw a bald eagle. And they have the good tubes with no bottoms (unless you ask. The staff is incredibly kind and almost provides a concierge service helping with stuff. If you have any questions or concerns - just ask and they've got you. Highly recommend.

I (female, 49) brought my two daughters ages 10 and 11 on this trip and it was perfect! The family that runs it is sooo nice. Check in was easy, getting out of the river was easy and the worker was even waiting for us at the exit point so he could help us carry the cooler and tubes up to the car. The small hike back is in the woods, up a hill, so shady. The rapids were small and fun, very safe! We even saw the bald eagle that hangs out along the river!

First, call and ask about the water level to see how much walking, if any, you'll be doing in the river because many parts are very, very shallow. Second, prepare to have your butt and back slammed into rocks on the parts where the water runs fast and it's shallow. Third, it is very expensive and I don't know what the money is for. This is the bill for 2 adults: Guest $72.00 Select guest type: ADULT Guest $72.00 Select guest type: ADULT Fees $8.64 Total $152.64 Total paid $152.64 Sure, you are renting a tube and a life jacket. Yes, they give you a 10 minute ride to and from the river. But that's a pretty steep price for that. People enjoy the river, as I do, but you can do this for free by buying your own tube and parking your cars at the beginning and end of the float. I recommend doing this on your own and not paying the $152.64.

We arrived around 12:30 noon, paid, everyone got a wristband, took a tube (and life vests for the younger kids), loaded with the tubs onto the yellow school bus that took us about a 10 minutes ride to the upper part of river. By the time we got into the river to start, we can see the water rising quickly from the release of the water from the upper part of the dam. (No point to come too early as the water level was too low so you're not going fast down the river, until the water rises.) And that's where the fun & adventure starts! This place was well run, very affordable price (compared to other places nearby), the family running the place nice. There are 2 clean porta potties and lots of tables where everyone can have lunch after. Great fun to social distance and be in the water and the great outdoors. We brought strings to tie some of the tubes together for the kids. And we saw some people even bring their own paddles. Unlike some places, they aren't strict with what type of shoes you wear (if you want to at all). I was hesitant to take my family there due to some negative reviews but this place didn't disappoint. Highly recommend and we'll surely come back.

We went with 6 friends and had a blast. You can either strap the tubes onto your car yourself, drive up to the starting spot and tube down the river, and then they shuttle you back to your car, or they can drive you to the starting spot. It was about a 1-1.5hr tubing ride which was a perfect length. Had truly a great time, and ended with hot dogs and root beer floats!! Really a great find and a great deal, and happy to support a small family business.

Jennifer the owner has staffed her company with the most incredibly friendly, down-to-earth people you'll ever meet. Our guide, Charlotte, was fantastic. Wise beyond her years, professional, knowledgeable, easy to talk to on the stretches of lazy river in between rapids, and an inspiring, true leader. We did the Deerfield River Fife Brook section in Massachusetts, which was about ten miles (normally 7) and two hours. The minimum age is 8 with most rapids being class 2 and one class 3, so it's good for beginners and/or kids. All of the staff are great with kids. My son is 9 and had a great time. They also offer the Monroe Bridge section with mostly class 3 and 4's which has a minimum age 15. The cost also includes a meal afterwards, and I had the salmon with salad, noodles and cornbread. Delicious and the perfect way to end the day. Can't recommend this place enough, and hope to see their other locations someday as well.

TBH The owner's wife is very accommodating. If I could POST ZERO Stars, I would. The husband/owner is an absolute piece of crap. Let me explain. I called to reserve a spot for two nights and the wife graciously tells me there is one spot open on the river. I tell her great, without asking the price and reserve the spot on Thursday. I call back and explain I would like to drop off my rtt trailer 6X6 in my spot early in the morning 5am (without setting up) and on the other end of the phone is a booming voice the F*U*K he will and he goes off for about 2 minutes. Now mind you this is not my first time doing this, yet this guy continues to berate me over the phone, then when I ask to talk to him he says he was yelling at his wife. Ya OK. So I tell him that I was planning on driving almost three hours to fish the Deerfield with my son and ask to drop it off in the spot. YA YA whatever is his response. To be accommodating, I do not leave as I wanted to arrive at 5am as he didn't want me to disturb his other guests, yet wants to charge me for the first night even though I wouldn't be there. We arrive at 7am and wait until I see lots of campfires going and people walking around. At 7:15 I call the office line and he is angry already, saying I woke him up and that check in isn't until 12:00 noon, even though I have been charged for the previous night and had permission to be there at 5am by him and his wife. This guy lets me drive almost three hours with my son, then gives me wrong directions to my spot and drives down LOUDLY saying are you down driving all around my property. I calmly explain I used the directions they gave me and they sent me the wrong way. He then states that we won't be doing this again to which, I said what again. You are right. Then he says you can leave. TBH I was thankful, as the spot he "gave" us was sandwiched between 30+ other tents along maybe 250 foot stretch of river front, all of which were awake and up cooking and getting ready for the day. You are right on top of one another, so much so you can hear others' conversations just sitting there. I said no problem, just give me a refund and I will leave. F*u*k YOU. I will call the cops if you don't leave. Apparently he was waiting to kick me out knowing I was driving the 2.5 hrs+ to the camp site with my son, because when he said he was yelling at his wife, I said that was no way to speak to his wife, with a 1st time customer on the phone. So I drove to the office and called the number to get my refund, at which time he drove up, as I am calling out to him he looks back and slams the door and refuses to pick up the phone. Drove about 15 min toward N. Adams and expailned the situation to a couple of people asking for another campsite, both locals pointed me to two other sites, but both had similar experiences with the owner, husband - not the wife. Choice and descriptive words about him, my GOD! Locals know him I guess. Still had a great time in Western MA - went out to N Adams and fished the Hoosic - caught five brookies and 1 brown all natives. Spent the night near Sawyer Pond VT and found another FREE places to camp almost like RTT in the wilderness - State allowed. I got my money back by doing a charge back. If anyone has ever had an issue with this guy, all you need do is call your credit card company explain the situation, and if no services were received the Credit Card Company - against his will, will pull the funds and place them back on your card, even with his NO REFUND POLICY. He will then get charged a "CHARGE BACK" which costs him an additional $25-$50 per and he gets a mark against his VISA/MC account. Customer have rights and he cannot steal your money. So in the end, He lost $50 plus two night rental fees, for his effort, and we found a new campsite and fishing spot. Turned what could have been a terrible time into an adventure and made some good memories!

After a brief safety video and briefing, we were given our rafting kit, loaded on buses, and brought up river to the raft slip, this was about a 30 minute trip north west. The raft trip ended across the street from where we started. An easy exit, we got out of the boat, returned our kit, and walked across the road to watch the video, and purchase souvenir photographs. We had an excellent day on the river during our 10 mile trip. My 14 year old son and I did the Zoar Gap trip which took most of the day with an hour break for lunch at a nice riverside picnic ground in the mountains. You can bring your own food( appropriately packaged) if you would like. They store it in a water proof bag and stow it on the raft. If there is even a hint of rain or you just don't want to get completely soaked, bring a three season jacket or rain coat. Also, you will be out on a river dress accordingly. NO open toed shoes! This includes flip- flops. You can rent shoes and wetsuits. If you have any medical issues like allergic reactions etc. I would either bring your own Epi Pen kit and medications with you, and stow it in the water proof bag, or possibly think about finding a less isolated outdoor experience. Be warned, white water rafting can be physically strenuous. The only issue I had was the lunch that was provided. Not that it was bad, it was well packaged and pre-made( not to order). If you have food allergies or don't like mayonnaise bring your own food. Zoar Outdoor is not really able to accommodate food allergies or pickey eaters. Mayonnaise was on every sandwich. I don't know why. They could just have provided packets on the side but they there were none available. My son hates mayonnaise so he only ate the chips, pickle, and cookies provided which got him through the remainder of the trip but not exactly a great lunch. One man we were with had a dairy allergy. I'm pretty sure he was not able to eat any of the food. I'm not sure why he didn't make sure a head of time if he could eat the food.I wish I had known the sandwiches had mayonnaise on them a head of time. Not a huge deal, we got over it. The trip was super fun! I would love to go again and will definitely choose Zoar Outdoor again.
