This used to be a decent gas station until recently. The guys who worked there were very friendly and the station is near my home so I was a frequent customer. Recently I had encounters with a new staff member, a woman, who was very rude to me. She refused to give me air for my tires even after I got gas. She claimed to not know how to operate the air. I ended up deflating my tire more and had to go to another gas station, it nearly spoiled my day. I stopped going to that gas station after that. Tonight my spouse described the same problem apparently with the same attendant, and ended up going to a different gas station. Now I've seen other complaints about a female attendant. Arco please replace this employee so I can start using the gas station near my house again. read more

Wow! I either leave a one star review because it's the worst service in my life or if five star because it's the best service. The lady at the cash register said "I'm just waiting on you. This place has greatly improved over the years! It was widely considered a rip-off for the longest time, likely due to its proximity to Highway 1 driving through town. These days the prices are extremely competitive, being less expensive than many other places around the area. Everything looks freshly remodeled, including the pumps and convenience store. There were window washers, liquid, AND paper towels fully stocked at all pumps for use. There is an option to save a few cents per gallon if paying via cash, but you CAN pay with debit/credit. Years ago, Arco only accepted debit cards and charged a solid fee. This is not the same crappy, overpriced gas station it used to be. Come see for yourself! read more

The people that work in the office at this gas station couldn't be more rude. I've had various exchanges with various people that work there. Today I had dealings with DREW. I picked up the hose to put it into my gas receptacle and a bunch of gas came out on my open sandaled foot and all over my car and on the ground. I went in the office to ask if I could get something to clean my foot and shoe off with because gas is toxic. He told me that it was my fault numerous times. He was such a moron. I paid cash and if he had a brain he would have seen the readout was at zero. I had not used the pump. The janky nozzle needs replacement. I see they have a 1.9 yelp rating. read more

Mu husband and I stopped here for gas. We parked by the pump nearest to the market. The one behind that pump was out of service. My husband stepped in to pay for gas, then set up the pump to pump gas while he stepped in to use the restroom. A minute later one of the lady workers knocks on my window and says "Are you okay!?" with an rude tone of voice. I say "yes" and she follows it with "what are you waiting for? you are blocking the road" I state that I'm waiting for my partner and that he's in the restroom. In an annoyed voice she says to park at the parking lot next time. I told her we were pumping gas (the pump just so happened to have ended slightly before that encounter). She says that we were not pumping gas the gas pump was clearly still attached to my car. I just say okay sorry and she turns around clearly annoyed. The way that she dealt with this encounter was very rude and I did not appreciate the way that she proceeded to blame us for being in the way? We are paying customers and its not our fault that the pump is so close to the market and does not allow other cars to pass. TOM is horrible, Disrespectful, went in to grab 2 bags of ice on Saturday afternoon, mind you he was already mad that he had to open the safe to pay a lottery winner so he was already salty when I walk up to ask for ice after I ask for two bag. He then ask the guy be-hide me and says is that all you have and continue to cash him out. This is my first time going here. Well there is Covid to account for during present times, yes, but the problem extends before Covid times unfortunately. If you look up the hours for ARCO in Rio Del Mar online you will find that it says "24 hours." That simply has not been the case and it's been this way for quite some time now. If its management's decision to scale bag their working hours then either post actual hours at business front and/or state the actual hours of operation online. Just saying... My girl just had ACL replacement surgery and was on hydros fiending for a slurpee. We called this station asking if they had slurpees in which the man answered "yes we have 24 flavors". Even though this is the closest gas station to our house, we will often go miles out of our way to avoid it. This is after trying it many, many times over several years. Yesterday, I relented and stopped here. I found out what the other reviewers mean about the bathroom :-( The problems don't get fixed: the reviews of this place that were written in 2011 could have been written yesterday. Bathroom. There was about 3 years of grime on the sink and floor. There was no soap, no towels. The place smelled bad too. I complained and was told that the bathroom had just been cleaned that morning (I was there at 10:15am). They do require a key to get in, so one would expect things to be a little better, especially if it had just been cleaned. ATM charge. I don't like it, but this is the least of the problems here. I think it is $3.25. Receipts. Of course you'll want a receipt when you go to a place like this, but the outside printers pretty much never work and you have to ask inside. Attendant. On my visit yesterday, I had to go inside to see the attendant 3 times. Each time I had to wait for her to come out as she was in the back somewhere with a cell phone glued to her head. When I complained about the bathroom's filth, she told me "it had just been cleaned" implying that I must be wrong (yikes what ever happend to "the customer's aways right" and pretending to care.). She repeated "it had just been cleaned" several times. When I returned the key, I noticed that she would not touch it directly, she grabbed a tissue...good idea...too bad there were no towels in the bathroom...I didn't want to touch it either. read more

Arco is the worst run business is Aptos! And it has been for years! This business has wasted hours of my time. I live and work in Rio Del Mar. The pumps are shut down half the time, or they only have one kind of gas left, constantly out of my brand of cigarettes, they don't take credit cards and they charge you to use your debit card, for some reason their debit card machine is always broken and they can only accept cash, they leave the OPEN sign on when NO ONE is actually there!!, Seem to be open whenever they feel like it, The bulletproof window after 8pm is a little much and super annoying, never have anything to clean your window with or trash cans, you have to pay to use the air pumps. I could go on. Business owners don't seem to care, obviously not putting any money into it. I've officially had it will Arco! I will never give them my business again and I encouraged everyone else to do the same. These owners need to go out of business and give someone else an opportunity to make the gas station a great asset to the Rio Del Mar community and it's neighboring businesses. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I used cash because I didn't want to pay the .35 cent fee for ATM card. I put $10 in the machine and it spit it back out 2 times. I creased the bill and input a 3rd time and it took the money. After about 45 second, with the pump handle in my gas tank and the fuel selected nothing happened. I went to see the Cashier and let her know what happened. She said that machine was broken. BROKEN? I ask why wasn't there a sign? She walks out and looks and asks me if my money fell down INTO the machine? What? So we walk back inside the store as I was expecting her to just put the $10 on the pump I was using. She looks at her computer screen for a minute and says the $10 isn't showing up... so there is nothing she can do. She can't refund the money, she can't add it to the pump I'm on, nothing. So I ask to speak with her manager, and she says she doesn't know who her manager is. Flat out lie. Then a guy come up works there and is asking what is going on. I explain. He basically says the same thing. I then say you guys should probably go put a sign on the machine so someone else doesn't get ripped off. They stare blankly at me. 10 seconds later a women walks in and says the machine isn't working and she wants $40 on pump 3. So again I say you should probably put a sign on the machine so no one else get ripped off. Blank stares. I start to get a bit upset, which they could tell, they said the only thing I could do was leave my contact info and when the manager shows up they will contact me. I do this. I continue to push a little bit considering it is crazy they don't know their managers name or number. They continue to lie. So I just throw $20 on the counter and pump my gas. As I am pumping my gas a lady overheard our conversation and asks what is going on, I explain, and she says about 1 week ago the same thing happened to her. Seems like a scam to me. Her thought was that it is a family business and they do this constantly. As my pump gets close to done, it stops at $19.99, not $20.00 I walk back in and tell the cashier and she gladly gave me my 1 penny back. I'll never use this gas station again. I see why this place has one star, and I agree. More expensive than the 76 station on soquel drive. Pumps always broken. The air/water, which law says is supposed to be available if someone purchases gas is often 'out of order' too. A cashier behind glass anytime you come after 8pm, etc. There is cheaper gas from higher quality stations in more impacted areas, avoid this one unless you have no other choice. read more

I can't stand this gas station but when you live out here and your needle is super low on that empty dial & you're extremely desperate, you just gotta make do. This place makes me angry enough that I would take my time to find them on Yelp just to give them a bad review. Their receipt dispenser has been broken for a long time and today they were sold out of gas except for the most expensive gas. One of the worst customer service experiences ever. I a mom with my two kids in the car. After filling up my tank, before I left, I had a small bag of trash. As I put it in the garbage can, the woman working started yelling at me. I walked closer to hear what she was saying. She told me that the owner said to call the police if anyone put trash in the trash can. She was extremely rude about it. I said, it is just a bit of trash and that people like to clean out their cars at gas stations. Then she yelled NO at me. Avoid this gas station if you can as its way over priced for an Arco. The owner of this station almost always prices his gas 5 to 10 cents over what it should be. Especially when you have to pay their 45 cent fee for using an ATM card unless you pay in cash. The place is dirty and half the time it seems the pumps or the ATM payment machines are out of service. If the prices were reasonable I would buy my gas here as I live only a 1/4 mile away but I end up going to Safeway because this Arco is a RIPOFF! read more

Okay, so no diesel (so I never stop here for fuel). However, I sometimes try to stop in for a Coke in the morning and almost every time they are closed! Wish I could give this 0 stars. Cashiers are always rude and either sleeping in the back having a party inside with their friends or just not there at all. When they are there they make u feel unwelcome and scream at you through the window like you're inconveniencing Their lives. Especially if u have change.
