I'm not sure I have the story right, but it seems like Fenwick Ice Cream moved across the street…read morefrom it's old location. I'm guessing from some limited information that the at least some of the owners are the same, but I don't really know. In any event, the new space is bigger inside. Meaning you can actually walk inside now. There is still significant outside seating. They also seem to serve some limited non-dessert food. Like the day I was there, they had lobster rolls and hot dogs. There isn't any reason why I would change my prior review score. Service was friendly. They have 33ish flavors of hard ice cream. I had a hard time picking a flavor because I was looking for something different, but the flavors seemed fairly standard. I ultimately ordered a sugar cone with a scoop of key lime pie ice cream. They asked if I wanted any toppings, and I asked for a single Blue Raspberry Sour Patch Kid on top because I thought it would look cool. The ice cream flavor was good. It had like a pie crust swirl which added some contrasting flavor and texture.

The black raspberry was not the best I've had but it was cold. The ice cream was a bit "dry and thick" with little flavor. My dog liked her pup cup though! They offer ice cream pies that looked good and unique. They have seating inside and outside available.

There is a deli to the left where you can order all sorts of cold or griddled sandwiches. Straight ahead is the ice cream (serving Gifford's!), and to the left is a wall of refrigerators with plenty of waters, sodas, etc. They do breakfast sandwiches in the morning and have plenty of self serve coffee to choose from. If you're headed to or home from the beach, this is the perfect spot. We were in the mood for ice cream, but didn't feel like driving to Saybrook. I'm so glad we stopped in. They had both our favorites-s'mores and maple walnut. A small cone was a good size and we walked out with two cones for under ten dollars. That is about what you'd pay at Fenwick or DQ. We'll definitely be back!!

I stood there quite some time while he was carrying on behind the counter and seemed like there was a lot of miscommunication/barriers going on. I only say this because I had plenty of time to watch and wait. I felt like jumping behind the counter to assist. I ordered a basic sandwich and was served before others that were still waiting. (Stomach feels a little off right now from a ham, cheese, mayo on sub roll) Advice to the owner: Get a system down Take orders as priority Have workers focused on making those sandwiches quickly and efficiently and a table to hand them off to customer at register. Slice to order (presliced is sketchy) I watched my ham come from a wrapped cellophane in the deli case Good luck! Also use Italian breadcrumbs on cutlets

Big portions of the ice cream for a modest price. As for the ice cream itself, it was a little hit or miss with our family. We loved most of the flavors (particularly the salted caramel) but the mint chip was a little toothpastey taste. I'd skip that the next go around. But otherwise, friendly people and a nice way to spend a summer evening

"I went down to the crossroads Tried to flag a ride…read moreNobody seemed to know me Everybody passed me by" (Eric Clapton) If you're heading from the Hartford area on a trip to the shopping outlets in Clinton, the odds are quite good that your GPS will take you south on Higganum Road or Route 81. Eventually, you'll hit a crossroads and traffic circle where 81 meets Deep River Road or Route 80. Congratulations, because that crossroads is also the location of Crossroads, a very cool ice cream shop. We made our first ever visit to Crossroads today (they've only been open for a year and a half) and were very impressed with the friendly service, great ice cream, and outdoor seating overlooking the water. My Kiddie sized sea salt caramel dish was excellent and very reasonably priced at just $3.75. Bonus points for their generous amount of chocolate sprinkles! My wife had a dish of peanut butter brownie, and of course I sampled it. If you like peanut butter ice cream, as I occasionally do, you've probably been disappointed once in a while because the peanut butter flavor was kind of timid. But not at Crossroads! Their peanut butter flavor came blasting through loud and clear. It was fantastic. Their outdoor seating area is quite nice with lots of Adirondack chairs, tables, fire pits, and a corn hole game. I enjoyed chatting with the young staff who gave me a few blank looks when I asked them if they knew Eric Clapton's song "Crossroads". *Pro Tip - Crossroads doesn't have a website, but you'll find them on FB and Insta
