I had an interview with Sara Barker (owner) After the…read moreinterview, I was asked to do a "shadow shift" to see if I would be a good fit for the company. When I asked if this shadow shift was paid and if I was guaranteed the job, I was told it is "unpaid, but we will provide a gift card for your time" and that I was not guaranteed the job, that would be determined after the shadow shift. Per Florida labor laws, it is not legal to provide compensation via a gift card and anyone doing a shadow shift must be compensated at least minimum wages in legal tender (cash, check, or direct deposit). This was a $14/hr minimum wage job. These are very sketchy business practices. I wish the company the best of luck in finding reliable help in this economy at minimum wage and extremely high expectations! Save yourself the trouble and your own sanity...don't waste your time interviewing for this company unless you want to work for 2 hours, unpaid, and not guarantee yourself a job!
