Ray grew up on the lake and there isn't one thing that Ray doesn't know about the history of the lake and surrounding communities. The first year we went South on the lake, the larger wider portion of the lake, where most of the activities occur. This year we went to the North end and ventured to the Dam then back through the McHenry area. Ray didn't disappoint and provided us with a fantastic cruise. The mixture of Facts and Humor made for an enjoyable time. In previous years we rented pontoon boats and cruised for several hours, not knowing anything about the body of water we were cruising on. A boat tour from High Mountain Sports is absolutely the way to go. It is a great value!

I always go for their summer end of season clearance for good prices on summer stuff as they transition to fall/winter. I got an $80 pair of North Face pants for $20. I decade ago I was riding a local ultradistance event up and down PA mountains when I broke a spoke on a front low spoke count wheel near Ohiopyle. That is pretty scary to ride downhill on, in case another spoke brakes. I rode to Bikes Unlimited in Connellsvile. They had the spoke in stock and replaced it. Thanks! Yesterday, I was riding Cumberland - Pittsburgh on the GAP, returning from riding out the day before. Starting out that morning, I realized something wasn't quite right with the wheel, and diagnosed a broken spoke on the trailside repair stand in Frostburg. Anyhow, this is a high-spoke wheel, and strong enough to ride with 1 spoke out. So I rode at least 90 miles on it, Cumberland to Connellsville. But you are tempting fate to ride with 1 spoke out forever. So I stopped at Bikes Unlimited and they were great. I had my own spare spoke this time. They made time for us and launched into the repair quickly. They were nice hosts. On one side of them is a restaurant. On the other is frozen yogurt. We did frozen yogurt. They sell cold water and Gatorade in the shop inexpensively. They have trailside seating. They patched me up, and were on our way. I really appreciate them making time for a trail-side repair on a holiday weekend. Thanks!

They carry Specialized and Jamis along with a few other lines. There are regular 5:30 Tues night rides from the shop, usually on the local Mt Bike trail system on the edge of town... 7+ miles of prime trials.

Riding the GAP from the Deal Trailhead to Frostburg and ending in Cumberland was mostly, a great…read moreexperience. The views are spectacular, rolling hills and so many colors of green and blue were breathtaking. Mile 9 was NOT our favorite mile. There is trail maintenance happening and that's a GOOD thing, but...the gravel is thick in many areas so riding the bike was sketchy at best. Thankfully it wasn't much more than that mile. I loved the train track right next to the trail and my prayers were answered when, lo and behold, a train appeared! It was stopped so as to clear a fallen tree but once removed (minutes) they were on their way. The train was filled with people who were happy to see bikers on the trail as we were happy to see, and wave at them. Great trail.

He said come on over, stayed open past time on Thursday 2 SEP to help two random out of town bicyclists. He not only helped but let me in the sacred space in the shop and showed me how to deal with the wheel on my Cannondale Topstone...I was afraid of the disc brakes [had tube, levers and pump], but had not practised removing a wheel or bothered to watch a YouTube video. I had spent 32 glorious miles on the GAP with my wonderful spouse...last 2 walked in cleats! Painful lesson on preparing ahead of time...so embarressed and me a boy scout and Army Vet. Thank you Hutch for your service in our brother USAF! Blessings always. I am sure this would be our go-to place if we lived anywhere within an hour...would be totally worth the drive.

My wife and I were on a mtb trip in the east coast, and when I asked the guy working there about some local trails he was a total a$$ hole and told me all the trails I was asking about were not real and couldn't give me any recommendations. It stuck with me, he wasn't pleasant, he didn't care to guide me to a dope trail, he just wanted to act like he was the local badass gatekeeper of the terrible trails they have in the area. Thank goodness I'm back in Colorado and would never ever go back to this shop with the attitude and lack of customer service this douche gave my wife and I.
