Great little boutique in downtown Raleigh. I went for the first time with Yelpers to participate in a cash mob! Deco really has something for everyone, of all ages. There are toys and gadgets for kids as well as adults. This is a great place to go for unique gifting and hard to shop for family members. There are awesome t-shirts, jewelry, purses that are made out of six pack beer boxes (awesome), coasters, glasses, games and much more. The prices are really reasonable, you can find several things for under $10, while other items can get a little pricier. Like I said you will find something for everyone! It felt really great to surprise the owner and support a local business. Most things in Deco will not be found at a department store, so you get unique gifts while supporting the local community, you can beat that!! read more

I had seen many pictures of their eye catching sign on Instagram and had even passed the store once or twice, but I didn't go into it until yesterday. And man have I been missing out... this store is great and quirky. I immediately was overwhelmed by all of the items and bought several of my friends gifts and will be returning soon to buy myself some of the items too. Deco Raleigh is a really cute fun place to shop. One of my best friends recently moved away from Raleigh for work and she is rather homesick. I went there looking for a 'Raleigh' gift to send her. Every time I go to Deco I find something new, and I pretty much have to resist buying everything in sight whenever I walk through the door. If you're looking for a cool gift to get someone (especially something NC related) Deco is the place to go. Shirts, toys, mugs, jewelry, books, and stuffed animals are among the numerous items they carry. They have stuff for people of all ages, and a lot of the items are made locally. Their greeting card selection isn't extensive, but the cards are great. I usually try to buy a few when I'm there just in case they aren't around the next time I come in. I also find myself wanting to play with the children's toys. Definitely going to get a few things from here once some little B's are on the scene. If you can't find a gift for someone (including yourself) at Deco, you probably won't find them one period. read more

Seriously--if you can't find a gift for somebody here, you should probably get rid of them. This is a completely quirky wonderful collection of things, from the most beautiful glassware to 3-D printed jewelry to lovely NC T-shirts and caps to Anne Taintor flasks and soaps and perfumes and silly little whatnots. I didn't even know about this cute shop until this past weekend at the Sparkscon event in DTR. I went in to browse as I was waiting for my food from the food trucks, which was parked on the same street as Deco. They sell a lot of neat knick knacks from like hand lotions to books to jewelry. SUCH a great little shop! Whether you are looking for unique cards and stationery, beautiful jewelry and handbags, or really weird and awesome housewares, you can probably find it, or a bizarrely cool version of it, in this store. The staff is always sweet and friendly, and they offer a frequent shopper program. As a bonus, they regularly bring in new stuff. Where else can you buy a zombie cribbage board, a wineopener shaped like a mustache, a terrarium, and an inappropriate greeting card all in one stop? It's fantastic. read more

This place has everything. Seriously. It's a bit overwhelming. It's colorful, filled with local crafts, and some items you might find in a museum gift shop. Puzzles, candles, maps, and prints. It was pretty busy, but I was able to get the help I needed. I purchased the cutest sticker books for a friend's son, stocked up on cards, and found a cool pair of earrings by a local maker. Reminds me a lot of Cameron's, my fave local gift shop; but much smaller. Still, the place is jam-packed with gift ideas from funny novelties and books, jewelry and scarves, to small housewares and home decor items, plus a kids section in the back. Also, a pretty collection of silk ribbon and boxed card sets to get the finishing touches on the gift you're giving. That said, the owner told us the day we were there that they do complimentary gift wrap as well! Items that are locally made are well-labeled so you can quickly ID stuff that supports hometown artisans. read more

Deco Raleigh reminds me of a privately owned Spencer's from the flair and attitude of the products and their imbued taglines. They have a unique range of essentials from atomic cocktail shakers to designer business card holders. Their prices are reasonable and I could spend hours here browsing around. I ended up getting a present for our office Secret Santa and it went over very well, fulfilling a running inside joke. A humble shopper could stop in to shop for any occasion! If you are in the downtown area, make sure to stop in- you'll get plenty of personality and view a few things you've never seen before. read more

This is a cute little shop that sports both quirky and handmade goods -- almost like a local Urban Outfitters, but less corporatey. Products range from snarky cards to cool, incognito tampon holders (yes, I said tampon). Prices are in the cheap to expensive range, depending on the type of goods, so be sure to check the tag when you're browsing. My neatest discovery was the Boylan Bottling Co. glasses made from the actual bottles -- a perfect gift for a faraway friend who previously resided on Boylan Avenue (she LOVED it)! read more

This place is a hipsters delight all the fashionable papers, pens, nick nacks, and lighter your little black rimmed glasses can handle. The owner (who I believe to be at least) is so sweet and kind despite her resistance in allowing me to buy this amazing green chair that is in her shop ( I completely understand though I could never let it go). Personally I use this store to by cards for correspondence. I can find stuff most people do my have. However they also have kitchen items, clothing and gifts. I found a guest book for your bed once. I don't usually come here with an item in mind. Sometimes I come when I need nothing, just to see what they have and buy for a future gift. I love the neighborhood candles for the Raleigh city districts. They have a good paper/card selection, as well. And some cute baby/toddler gifts that are a little different than your typical. This place is wonderful! Great place to pick up local trinkets, cool jewelry, and unique gifts. I always find something I like. Nice stuff but extremely overpriced. The kind of things you will buy people for christmas but really has no true meaning so it will just end up in a closet or box for decade before considering taking it to Goodwill. I found the staff rather rude. Mostly because I was wearing a backpack, I was asked to leave my bag at the desk. There was no please in the conversation. Simply, "would you mind leaving that bag at the front desk?", in a darted fashion. I am a student traveler, new to the area and my experience in Raleigh felt somewhat ruined by this. My bag is my life. In the moment, I was going to abide by leaving my bag at the desk, given that I was already in the shop for 3 to 4 minutes along with that sense of someone hovering around you, like a fly with a ton of eyes. But suddenly it occurred to me. I am am a minority, not your typical average folk to be wondering around the so called area. But I forgot to mention my fellow student and companion who was also perusing the store with me. He is common folk and his name is Kevin. With a saddened face, I left the store half pissed and half defeated. I waited outside for Kevin for a solid 5 minutes. Now given that Kevin has a 'twice the size' backpack then I do, and was in the store for 8 minutes total, as he comes out, with a smirk on his face, says "that was unfair". I simply ask "did they ask you to leave your bag at the front desk?". "No", replied Kevin. We both knew why and we will leave it as that. read more
