The seats were comfortable and there is an area to reserve if you have a group. Sound was great, room for dancing at the front by the stage and all the staff we interacted with were awesome (especially the bartender Scottie who mixed up a delicious tropical cocktail for me) . They don't have food but you can order from PhD next door. Had a wonderful time and I'll be checking out other acts here because I love the venue.

Because of its space layout and narrow width of the room, there is no bad spot in the house, save for maybe in the corners of the balcony which may give obstructed view. I was also very pleased with the acoustics in the room. The sound system and quality was great! I was impressed with this as the sound in similar venues can be hit or miss. There's street parking, paid lots nearby, and a parking lot right next to the venue for $20 cash. I'd definitely return to Trees for another concert.

Silo Dallas is a masterclass in how not to run a venue. From blatant safety concerns to baffling…read moredesign choices and outright hostility toward patrons, it's hard to imagine how this place continues to operate the way it does. Let's start with safety, because it's genuinely alarming. The venue is riddled with dangerous corners created by locked and barred doors, turning sections of the crowd into literal dead ends. In a packed show, this isn't just inconvenient--it's reckless. Crowd flow is terrible, visibility is poor, and the setup feels like an accident waiting to happen. Any venue that locks people into boxed-in corners during high-capacity events has fundamentally failed at its most basic responsibility. Then there's the so-called VIP area, which might be the biggest scam of the entire experience. Instead of offering better sightlines or proximity to the stage, VIP is completely separated from the performance, drained of energy, and bizarrely isolated. You're not paying for exclusivity--you're paying to be removed from the show you came to see. It feels less like VIP access and more like being banished to a poorly thought-out annex. The restrooms are another low point. The attendants are aggressively overbearing, hovering, directing, and policing behavior to an absurd degree. It's uncomfortable, unnecessary, and adds to the feeling that the venue doesn't trust or respect its own patrons. And if you're unlucky enough to attend during bad weather, good luck. There's no cover outside for rain, meaning guests are left standing around getting soaked with zero accommodation or planning. For a venue that hosts large crowds and charges premium prices, this level of disregard is embarrassing. All of this combines into an experience that feels hostile, unsafe, and poorly managed from top to bottom. Silo Dallas isn't just a bad venue--it's one that seems fundamentally uninterested in the comfort, safety, or enjoyment of the people keeping it in business. Save your money and your time.

The dances are sponsored by the North Texas Traditional Dance Society (NTTDS). Dances are held in various locations throughout the area (Carrollton, Irving, East Dallas). Contra Dancers prefer a wooden dance floor and that is exactly what is to be found at each of the dance venues. The dances always have live music. They are held in a smoke-free environment. Admission is a very modest $8 or even less if you spend $15 and become a member of NTTDS. If you want to try it, be 30 minutes early for the dance. They usually do a beginner's introduction. The other thing that Contra Dancers do is they put on weekend-long events. I went to one over the New Years weekend up at Lake Texoma. That event is is called Fiddler's Dream. http://www.nttds.org/nye.html It was great, just great. I don't remember when I have had that much fun. The people who were there were relaxed and welcoming. The weekend was held at a facility that is a church summer camp. We slept in the cabins, danced and ate in the meeting hall. I got to make new friends and laugh a lot. Fiddler's Dream was begun by a local fiddler named Mimi. She told me that she had a dream of having an event where musicians interested in learning more about the music used for Contra Dancing. That dream has become a reality that has happened every year for the last 10 years. I started going to Contra Dances in August, almost by accident. It didn't take me 10 minutes to figure out that I had managed to fall into a really good thing! Contra Dancing just makes me giggle. How many other activities can you say that about?
