In the fall of 2022, we purchased a weeping cherry tree from Decker's. We asked for definitive planting suggestions, which were provided, and we followed. Have been living in East Northport since 1988 and every specimen planted on our property has been planted by my husband and ALL have flourished. In the summer of 2023, I took several pictures of the tree, as the leaves were folding up and off to the nursery I went. I spoke with one of the women who acted as if she knew her stuff. She told me the tree is suffering from drought. I told her we have an irrigation system, she said it is not enough. I was told to use buckets of water and bone meal, which I purchased. We watered throughout the summer as instructed. I stressed how worried I was about the tree and that I did not want to lose it. I was reassured that the tree would be fine. In Spring of 2024 the tree produced some flowers but once done flowering, the leaves were yellowing, folding up and dropping off the tree. Again, back to Decker's I went, this time spoke with Conrad. I had a clipping from the tree and I asked him to come and look at it. I was very concerned that I would lose it. He came by the following day and when I called him for his insight, he told me the tree was planted too deep and that some of the soil around the trunk needed to be removed. Once again, I stressed how worried I was about losing the tree. He reassured me that the tree would be fine. He offered to send a crew to the tune of $175.00 to remove the soil and rise the root ball. Instead, I had my husband do this and after all of this.... the tree is NOW DEAD. I do not have to tell you how upset I am about this. I really think that the issue worsened when that woman told me to flood the tree the summer previously. I think the poor thing died of root rot to the tune of just under $400.00. We are now faced with removing the tree and replacing it. Why would you continue to reassure a customer that they will not be losing the tree, when the whole time the tree was struggling and dying. My son purchased several Leyland cypress trees a few years ago and they completely yellowed, and this was from Prianti. They sent someone out to have a look and replace ALL OF THEM. That is what you do to keep customers. When you are speaking to Conrad, he starts to walk away and talks over you. Customer Service is not their hallmark. There are better choices around, trust me.

Usually have a very large selection of everything you want to plant in your garden. My biggest complaint is their prices. They are astronomical. It's practically a slap in the face. For example, the whiskey barrel planters pictured are priced at over $80 each at Decker's. Just a short drive down to Home Depot they are selling for $45. In a time where we want to support small businesses, Decker's isn't making it easy. Not when you can spend half as much at a big box store.

I was excited to go to Decker's yesterday afternoon to buy something special for my garden. When I arrived, I noticed an employee was not wearing a mask. I found an owner and alerted him as the nursery was crowded and there was no social distancing. To my surprise , he also was not wearing a mask. He said if I'm uncomfortable I should leave and told me that I was making a scene. Then persisted in a loud voice.....the whole thing turned ugly fast. The bottom line is he told the police that I am prohibited from entering his property. The nursery is estetically beautiful but...,..what a rip off. I bought a mandivilla the day before this incident at one of their competitors for $70. At Decker's, same size plant, same grower, $115.00!!!!!! Rip off.....don't shop here

Nice selection. I picked up some heirloom eggplants. The big problem is how slow the checkout is. The one by the entrance was as slow as molasses. Please give this woman some coffee.

Planting for 27 years and all plants this year are flourishing except for the DECKER plants! Nasty fungus from the nursery.

DICKERS IS THE WORST! NURSERY AROUND!! PRICES ARE RIDICULOUS, bought a handful of vegetable plants for my garden after mother's day and they were feeble and dying later in the week. I always buy from lowes but I figured I'd go local this time. Back to lowes for bonnie brand plants! DICKERS NURSERY BLOWS!!

Only had to add HD cabbage to make it fuller. Mums are still sparse

So disappointed in Deckers! I've been buying my Spring, Summer and Fall plantings for years there and two days ago I purchased some mums and ornamental cabbage for my flower boxes. I misjudged the size and when I placed the flowers in the boxes it just Ate them up. Just went back today to exchange for the next size larger. These plants weren't even taken out of the containers yet! Needless to say it was a big deal and they wouldn't exchange the plants for me! It's not their policy! Well, in these times of covid when people and businesses alike are feeling the punch, I would think they would rather take back perfectly sellable plants for a larger sale and a happy customer? That wasn't the case so I went to Home Depot and purchased a few more plants to fill in and called it a day! Sad that they don't care About their customers and I will have to find another nursery who is helpful to their customers!

Do you have Encore azaleas ? What are the colors , sizes & pricing?

Hey Nina! Thanks so much for reaching out. We do indeed have several different Encore azaleas in stock at the moment. Yelp doesn't give us much room to provide a thorough response but if you'd like to reach out to us directly we'd be more than happy… Read more

It's hard to necessarily pinpoint what exactly is the most essential piece to a wedding, but…read moreperhaps many people might say flowers. I suppose without any floral arrangements, things wouldn't be too festive and so you have to find just the right flowers that'll do. My advice? Try Flowers By Burton because they'll give you anything you want. I mean that's basically how it works. You pay a certain price and FBB will help to create the exact floral concoction that you desire. For us, our wedding was happening in the fall and we had our specific colors that we were using (steel and navy blue with maroon highlights). Burton was able to meet with us and discuss different ideas and flower types we might want to use. Mike is who we initially met with and he was super chill and helpful. He had a great knowledge of flowers and wedding items (bouquets, etc.) which helped make the process that much easier. What was also great was how easy it was for Burton to create centerpieces that worked with the lanterns we wanted to use. They were able to build a nice ring of flowers around the lantern that kept the centerpiece compact yet still elegant. I'll also give them some props for helping to differentiate my boutonnière from the rest of my groomsmen as that was the only way to tell the difference between us (my white flowers and their maroon). Oh and everything was delivered right on time which is extremely essential when trying to get a wedding orchestrated. Overall, I have nothing negative to say about Flowers By Burton. They've been around for a long time and for good reason. Their prices are respectable and they'll work with you to find exactly what you want. So if you're looking to fill arguably one of the most important parts of your wedding, then go to Flowers By Burton and smell the roses (just a saying).

I was a little behind on booking a florist for my wedding, so I immediately chose Flowers by Burton…read morewhen I saw that they were responsive, a little bit more affordable than some others, and most importantly: promised me tulips for my bouquets in June when quite a number of florists were hesitant to. I love how they talked to me on the phone and discussed what I wanted, including the inspiration photos that I sent them. Then, we had another meeting in person to go over my flower choices. On the week of my wedding, they also sent me pictures of the tall centerpiece and bridal bouquet and made adjustments based on my feedback. I understand that they didn't want to make them so early in advance of the wedding but it would've been better if they sent the pictures earlier because a bride has a lot of last minute tasks to do before the wedding and checking emails for photos should not be another item on their to-do list. I wish they also sent pictures of the other arrangements that I ordered because I wasn't too fond of the wrist corsage for the moms. They were very loose and the flowers were too big. In most of the wedding pictures, the flowers were sitting on the side of the wrist because the corsage was so loose and the heaviness of the flowers made them fall.. The centerpieces bouquets looked beautiful though. My only complaint is that my bridal bouquet was so thick in the stems that it was hard to hold with just one hand. But I guess tulips have thicker stalks so it's a tulip problem, and it's not super noticeable in pictures. It was very nice of them to include a small bouquet for me to throw. I love how the arrangements were the same price no matter which flowers I wanted and that the boutonnieres were free of charge. I was considering pocket boutonnieres instead but they were $25 each iirc. I have to say that my favorite arrangements were the ones on the floor in front of the sweetheart table. They're exactly how I imagined them to be, and they turned out sooo perfectly. They did such a phenomenal job delivering and setting up all the flowers too! Their office is very small so there might be other customers in close proximity when you're there but I didn't think it was an issue at all. Parking is aplenty.
