It wasn't especially cold, and we were dressed appropriately with warm coats, snow pants, hats, and gloves. I was surprised to see many visitors who weren't dressed for the cold. Although you can warm up at the cafe, it's best to dress for the cold because it can be frigid. Over the years, we have visited Zoo Lights many times, and it's always a fun experience for our family. I was surprised this year, however, to see the decorations have been scaled back. Zoo Lights is smaller than in previous years, and areas that were open in the past are now closed down. Our boys loved Zoo Lights and enjoyed visiting Santa and riding the carousel. Thank you for a fun evening, Hogle Zoo!

Yeah, I started writing this almost 3 years ago, but, my review was postponed by a shoulder surgery, a pandemic, and now a knee surgery. Every time I open up the browser or app, Yelp keeps telling me to finish up my draft. I've had chances to finish it in June when Zoo Lights is not open. Anyhow, this is a pre-COVID review so things may have changed. Zoo lights is located inside the Hogle Zoo. They decorate the zoo with animal lights during the holiday season. When we went in 2019, it was so cold that all the animals decided to stay inside in their nice and warm dens. The only animals we saw were the lights. They had lights in the shape of a lion, gorilla, elephant and many other animals. According to the website, they have new and improved lights for 2021. Parking was rough. It took us almost 20 minutes to find a parking space. They had shops and stands open and were serving hot chocolate. Some lines were very long. It was okay. It was a good way to spend a couple of hours. Dress warmly as it can be very cold. 3 1/2 stars.

Consistent with this last year, and due to supply challenge issues, the initial instal didn't go perfectly. That being said, the customer service team was available and responsive. The real bright light shined from the owner, Dean. Who promptly arrived at my house to better understand the opportunity for improvement and offer solutions. Did I mention Dean brought Ritual chocolate? As this is the busy season for BriteNites, I was grateful they haven't forgotten their small individual client base. The minute I waked in it smelt so amazing. It was very inviting. There were hundreds of trees all decked out for purchase, as well as Nativity sets, wreaths & quilts. There were rally neat Gingerbread houses and a small area to buy crafts, as well as the sweet section to purchase yummy treats. This is a short 4 day event where you can buy the trees or other items up for purchase. Trees ranged from $200 up to one I saw was $8k! On Thursday the second day of the event most trees had already sold. Many trees were honoring deceased love ones, and had really special tributes to things they liked... biking, toys, etc. it felt really special. They had choirs performing as well as instrumental performances on two serrated stages. Entrance was $10 on Thursday and at 11am it was quite crowded actually. I purchase a ticket in advance and scanned my phone at the door to get in. Easy breezy. Parking was a bit crazy but I just ended up driving over to where it wasn't so hectic and people weren't fighting for spots. Would love to visit this again next year!

We rolled down our windows, opened the sunroof, and cranked up the 87.9 FM radio Christmas tunes. The dancing light extravaganza had our kids dancing and shouting out Santa's reindeer names. The kids felt the holiday vibes as our car slowly rolled through light tunnels, around signing snowmen, and past dancing polar bears. My husband has consistently followed-up 3-4 times since they reached out in October so we could see when we'd be on the schedule. Today, I'm sure because of my husband's follow-up, we received an email saying they won't be able to install this year due to staffing issues. I understand staffing issues and they are Christmas lights- not the end of the world- I'm disappointed about the lack of communication and the fact they waited too long to tell us. I'm convinced they only told us because my husband kept reaching out. There is no way I can find someone now that it's the middle of November. I believe in excellent customer service and effective communication- this situation failed in both areas. Really enjoyed the wonderful synchronization of music with the colorful lights. They definitely put a lot of effort into making this entertaining for guests. This is a no-cost, high quality light show that is very accessible from the I-15. Around 7 there are already a lot of cars parked right outside, so I recommend getting here early to secure a good spot. It doesn't seem people get outside the vehicle, perhaps out of courtesy or because of the cold, but I was able to hold my daughter and let her enjoy the light show relatively close up. Highly recommended if you're looking for something more chill at no cost (although I've heard the thanksgiving point lights are quite good). The parking lot was busy, but we were able to find a spot no problem. It was very easy to get in once we were parked. They had clear signage on how to get in from the parking lot. When we got in, the line for everything was long! We started with food. The line moved pretty quickly. I got a corn dog combo and my husband got the chicken sandwich. Both were good! The fries were delicious. I got a can of Diet Coke. We also shared mozzarella sticks, and they were great!! After that we went to the pig races, I would recommend getting there early because it was VERY FULL!!! It was so cute. We walked around and looked at all the animals. They have animal feed available for purchase. We also did the mini corn maze. It was very easy. We didn't want to do the bigger ones because of time and because they were muddy. Then we got in line for treats while our friends waited for donuts. The donut line was LONG and took about 45 minutes. The donuts were absolutely delicious. I am not a huge apple cider person but still really enjoyed them. We also tried the soft serve, a caramel apple, and the apple cider slushie. The soft serve was soooo good!!! We tried the peanut butter lovers apple and it was great. All of the food was incredible. There were a lot of mosquitos, but they had bug spray stations. Overall, I thought it was a little expensive to get in for what it was, but we had a really good time and were happy we went!! I think it would be especially awesome if you're able to go at a less busy time.
