And when the nurse is digging for the iv it was hurting bad enough I was crying and he asked what was hurting so bad. He's a bumb ass. They had me on stroke protocol but had me get in a wheelchair when I had to have help walking. Dr Symonds said I had some kind of spell but he didn't know what it was. My daughter asked him about one of my blood tests and he looked dumbfounded. This isn't the first time I've had a run around with him. He has no business being a dr let alone an emergency room dr. I had started a new medicine and asked if it could be a reaction to it and all he said was I don't know. He said at least we know what it wasn't. What a stupid answer to finding out what's going on. So I went home with no answer to what was going on. The board said dr Symonds and dr Dixon were the Dr's. I asked the nurse if dr Symonds was the only dr there because I don't care for him as a dr. He was in the er 9 years ago when my dad fell and hit his head and all he did was an egg and lab and sent him home. He died 5 days later from a brain bleed. My granddaughter went in with a hip hurting he said it was growing pains. She had to have hip surgery for a birth defect. How could you say it's growing pains and why didn't he do a CT scan on my dad especially since he had hit his head and was knocked out. Anyway I was told he was the only dr there. Why was dr Dixon on the board if she's not there. As you can see I have good reasons not to want dr Symonds taking care of me. Like I said in my opinion, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way, he has no right to be an er dr.

Creston is the worse place for care. The Emergency room Dr. and staff working on 3-1-2026 in the…read moremorning to afternoon were absolutely horrible to me!! Treated me like crap, cussed at me, my husband heard all of them treat me this way. Not to mention I was treated like a prisoner the whole time I was there. Nothing was done, after talking to management, nothing was done. Apparently, Creston is ok with their staff treating people like total crap and their staff only needs to be respected, not the Patient. So my husband and I are switching to Winterset where they actually treat their Patients with respect and are more caring as well. Of i could give this place zero stars I sure would! This place is awful!

Mother's Day, Sunday May 14th. An old guy puts a fishhook…read moredeep in his finger while fishing at a local park. Drives 10 minutes, goes into the ER. He gives an ID, gets a wrist band and while waiting gets a bottle of water and a snack from the vending machines. Suddenly he is invited into an exam room and he's getting his vitals recorded and his finger cleansed and soaking. Happening fast. Yah, finger still has a chunk of hook in it. Doctor comes in, looks at it, fetches the needle nose pliers and a needle full of painkiller. And the old guy just took his first sip of water. This is quick. He could get back to fishing soon. Before he knows it, he's getting some gauze taped to where the fishhook used to stick out. They agreed that while he didn't need a tetanus shoot a year ago when he had his last checkup, it might be time now. So he got a tetanus shot. And then they called in an antibiotic prescription to an open pharmacy and the documentation that he could give to his primary care physician. Three minutes later he settled the insurance, payment and was on his way. The rooms he saw were comfortable, well lit, clean, the staff's equipment worked. In much less than an hour he was on the road. He gives his highest compliments to the clerks, the nurse and the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist who all took great care of him. He found them all polite, easy to work with, no mistakes made, no crisis, a couple laughs. Thanks, it was fun for a hospital visit. Oh, on mother's day the staff were all women. I appreciate the sacrifice. By the way, the old guy came home with 11 nice crappie to fillet, antibiotics, no fishhook and a nice tan. It was a nice day in fishing near Creston, a nice visit to the ER.
