This place is absolute flaming dog sh*t, don't waste your time or money!…read more I setup a reservation online well in advance (at least 1 month) of a one way move from Rochester to MD for my in-laws. I flew up on a plane and got into town Thursday. I purposely swung by the rental location to make sure everything was good to go, entered correctly, and things would go off without any problems when I came to pick the truck up the next morning because we had movers that were paid in full showing up at 11AM. When I arrived, I inquired about why my original reservation said 7AM pickup request, and now it was changed to 10:30. I was told at this time someone had the 26 foot truck rented already, and had not returned it/needed extra time in the morning, but they "might" be able to get me out earlier if she returned it. I also had to go to another location to pickup the car hauler I had reserved. Well next day comes and at 10AM I get a call saying the lady needs more time and it will be noon now. I'm like WTF, so I call the movers and push them back. At this time he offered to put us in a smaller truck (15 footer and I rented a 26) which I told him wasn't going to work. They had a 26 foot truck on the damn lot but it was for "local moves only". At 11:30 I message the manager because they don't answer the phone and was told he hadn't heard from the renter, and he would touch base with an update. At 11:45 I attempted to call again (movers were gonna be there in 15 minutes) and again got no answer, so I texted him. I also started calling around for other trucks at this point because the manager Kyle Miller said "there are no guarantees". What is that supposed to mean? What's the point in making a RESERVATION. If I make a reservation at Ruth Chris, you know what my table is ready at my reservation time because their customer service doesn't suck sweaty ass like this place does. Anyway at noon I now have 3 movers standing in my driveway and no truck. Kyle calls at this time and says he doesn't have a truck for me and doesn't know if he will have one. At this point I am pissed and cancelled the entire reservation. I paid 800 dollars more (gladly) and drove 45 minutes to Waterloo to pickup a Penske truck, which was guaranteed and ready as soon as I arrived. I then proceeded to drive to a home depot to pickup the car hauler I need, again paying more money because these f*cksticks put me in such a jam. Luckily for me I returned with just under 2 hours left on the movers and were able to get everything loaded before my time expired. Uhaul, you absolutely failed at customer service. You General Manager Kyle Miller kept saying "I'm trying to help you" when all he was doing was pissing on my shoulder and telling me it was raining. He kept saying it's not my fault the customer hasn't returned the truck, and that may have been true, but IT IS YOUR FAULT that you booked too many reservations and didn't have enough vehicles to guarantee service. If your reservation service isn't guaranteed then it's a waste of time, and it might as well be first come first serve. From a financial aspect, I could care less about the money. I will 110% spend more money every day of the week to rent with Penske, Budget, Aunt Jemima's truck service, you name it so I don't ever have to spend another dollar of my money with U-haul every again, and I will encourage all my friends to do that same as well. We currently also have a storage unit here in Annapolis that we have rented for two years, and due to this experience I will be pulling my stuff and finding another vendor to store our items as soon as time permits. Thanks for screwing me and my 70 year old in-laws and making what was planned out to be a non stressful day for them terrible. Never again.

A HUGE thank you to Wes at Penske from Home Depot in Greece. Wes was very pleasant to work with,…read morefriendly, and helpful! He helped turn a very stressful day into a much better one and we couldn't be more thankful. Please see the negative review I left for U-Haul, it mentions at the end how Wes was able to turn everything around for us after an awful experience with a competitor. For U-Haul: "Sadly, this is the first negative review I have ever written. But I hope I can steer someone else away from a negative situation before it is too late. We have tried to work with U-Haul three times now and every time it has been a nightmare. Although it is on us that we tried to put our trust in this company, we should have known better after the first time. The best word I can think of to describe the employees at U-Haul is INCOMPETENT. If I could give U-Haul 0 stars I would. U-Haul is the epitome of terrible customer service. They called my boyfriend with less than 24 hours' notice to let us know that the truck we rented was no longer available, but we would have one at another location that is a smaller size for tomorrows move. I completely understood this, things happen. I called to speak with them about this new reservation, I was put on hold a couple times for almost 10-15 minutes at a time. I am not sure if this was the customer service rep's first day, but she continually put me on hold for long periods of time, throughout this I remained calm and patient. At the 31st minute of this phone call I was hung up on. So, I then had gotten someone else on the line and re-explained the situation. This representative also could not answer my questions, so she passed me along to her supervisor, Theresa. Theresa was happy to let me know that the new truck that they reserved for us at the new location was no longer available for us. When I asked why...her response basically was that it just is that way and then ended up using the excuse because it wasn't meant for the type of move, we were doing? Instead of trying to resolve the issue she preferred to try to disconnect the call at which point I admittedly became very upset. I have never spoken to a customer service representative in such a way because I do too work in customer service and understand that things can happen. I understand that all companies handle things differently but when it is the company's fault and the customer is TRYING to work with you to make both sides happy, you should be able to come up with some sort of resolution. At this point I very quickly understood why the rest of my phone calls went so horrible. How can I expect employee's under this individual to be capable of handling a customer service position when the manager can't even explain an adequate sentence to me for the reasoning behind all of this. Honestly, I would have settled for her to even try and attempt having the brain capacity to come up with a solution. At this point I thanked Theresa for her help and hung up the phone. We tried calling back later to get another reservation on the board, after 40 MINUTES I somehow was unlucky enough to end up on the phone with Theresa again. At this point and much frustration, we agreed to not waste any more time with U-Haul because we are moving tomorrow. In a way this was a blessing to happen because this led me to call Penske Truck Leasing immediately after. I spoke with the rep and explained our situation. The rep was happy to book a last-minute truck for us with his company. It was quick, easy, and seamless. He made sure to make a very stressful situation right when it wasn't even his mess to clean up. Please be aware of using U-Haul, moving is already stressful enough. I HIGHLY recommend Penske Truck Leasing if they are in your area!" Thank you again Wes!

I recently needed to reserve a rental truck to transport some furniture to my daughter's house…read moreabout 300 miles away from me. I started calling actual movers and received several quotes for the job. Finding their quotes quite expensive, I decided to get quotes for one-way rentals where my son-in-law could drive the truck and return it closer to where they live. I found a couple of places, but Budget Truck Rental was very reasonable so I reserved my dates and times with all details they needed 2 months ahead of when we wanted the truck. Since it was just after Thanksgiving holiday that we needed the truck, I knew it might be a busy time. Budget truck assured me that when it came to my date, I might not be able to get the 12 foot truck, but could get the 16 foot truck and it would be the same cost. No extra charge. A week before my date, I called Budget just to confirm all was well and things were all set for the following week. To my shock, they told me there were no trucks available for that date! They said they were trying to find a truck to give us, but so far they were not successful. I was in a panic. How dare they NOT have a truck to give me! I had a confirmed reservation! I received it well in advance of my date! I was in a panic and starting calling other rental places. Other rental prices costs were now higher than what they quoted me 8 weeks ago! I reserved something that was twice as high price as Budget Rental just to get a truck. My daughter ended up finding a truck that was very reasonable, and they assured us that this truck was reserved for us and is guaranteed to be available when the time came. We cancelled both Budget and the other place I reserved in panic. During the course of this fiasco, my daughter told me this same thing happened to them when they moved a few years ago. They booked a Budget Rental truck for their move from one house to the other. Last minute they were told there were no trucks available. They went through much frustration trying to find trucks last minute. They ended up with several smaller 10' trucks that they had to pack, deliver and repack. They also had to get a storage facility and pay for such to store their belongings and then deliver them later. What was supposed to be a wonderful experience moving into their new home, turned sour because of Budget Rental Truck's lack of a system to RESERVE and HONOR customer's requests for trucks. They explained to her at the time that they rented many of their trucks to UPS and Amazon. Of course they did this so they can rake in more money from those companies and disappoint their other customers! My daughter never shared this story to me so I didn't know how Budget Truck treated them. We got our move done, but not until my daughter and I were frazzled by having all this dumped on us last minute. I would never recommend Budget Rental. They have a lousy business practice. I highly suggest that if you are looking for a truck rental company, use another company....even if you have to pay a bit more. Make sure you ask if you are guaranteed a truck.
