We stumbled across this market on our motorcycle ride. It's a small town privately owned market carrying a lot of Italian deli meats and specialty meats. It is a cute and quaint market with specialty items. The deli offers multiple different sandwiches that they make to order and they are humongous for the price of $11, it was a great deal! The cashier/owner was so friendly and helpful and even the worker that was assisting anyone that needed help on the floor to find something they need was also very helpful. I absolutely LOVE this place. It's been family owned and operated for ages. My grandmother brought my mom here when she was a girl, and we still go there. I'm 40 so that should tell you a little something about Decarlo's longevity. For a little fruit market in a small town, they have some great things. I stop in for the bread-yummy, fresh, crusty bread they have delivered every morning form a bakery in Pittsburgh. You have to get there early though if you want a loaf, because it's usually sold pretty quickly. You can also stock up on specialty items like tahini, great Italian salami, a huge cheese selection...I can't say enough. There's a wide selection of products and produce, reasonably priced. And you have to try their whole loaf Italian bread hoagies...out of this world! The only down side to Decarlo's is the parking. It's located on an oddly shaped lot, and getting in and out of the parking lot can be a real challenge sometimes, but worth the aggravation in my opinion. read more

DeCarlo's is THE BOMB! We might be their longest distance semi-regular customer, as we come up from Louisville, Kentucky. Whenever we visit family, we make it a point to stop there. Their deli meats are unparalleled for deliciousness (is that a word?) and value. We used to go to Kazanski's in Squirrel Hill until we decided to stop at DeCarlo's one day on an excursion to Shop n Save. We haven't been back to Kazanski's since. Their Pastrami is "to die for" good, as is their Cappi and their aged Fontina, and all of the other typical deli meats. Down here in Louisville, the best we can get is Boar's Head. Sigh ... Through talking with the people there, I found out that the place where Dad used to buy fruits and vegetables (Dominic's in Clairton) was owned by Dominic DeCarlo (the brother of the founder of DeCarlo's in Elizabeth). We have spent many hours reminiscing with the good people at DeCarlo's (Still family owned and operated) about the wonderful qualities of Dominic and his brother! This place is a MUST VISIT.
