The communication between the event managers and my family was off. My family and I were left feeling like our concerns and experience about services was belittled and disregarded. With the sensitivity about what today was to myself and my family (My sister's funeral and repass) we feel like services was unacceptable. I will not be using the venue moving forward, at all. The venue space was set up nicely, though.

I generally stick to posting food and what not... Yet this one tugged at my anger strings!…read more Things seemed to go off smoothly with Maura, she was kind and willing to show us around and take my credit card over the phone after charging me an extra $40 plus dollars so that they did not have to eat the fee. I was fine with that...support small business; however after my teenager daughter decided to change her mind and opt not to have a party here that is where the trouble began. At first Maura tells me its no problem, lets just move the money to August for my husband's birthday and they would retain 25%. All along I have nothing in writing stating what their policies are nor do I have a SIGNED CONTRACT obligating me to do anything. Sad what you get when you try to support "your people''. Five minutes later, she calls me back to say ''oh we cannot refund your credit card"....say what? You had no problem charging it. I told her I guess it boiled down to her not wanting to eat that fee. In any event, after she MAILS me a handwritten "business" check I proceeded to take it to HYPERION BANK (should be more aptly named HOOD BANK" they refused to cash the check because I was not an account holder. I told the branch manager it was a great way to NOT earn customers. Besides how many branches could they actually have. Not to worry, HOOD BANK will get a review too--my yelpers beware. So after my conversation with Maura today where she tries to snicker and make side marks I told her she needed to check her tone. She's telling me she's not making special exceptions for me, and she went out of her way just to do that. That her accountant gets confused when dates change-- makes you wonder who they have working their in the first place. Really it was more of an inconvenience than anything. I should have gone with my first instinct and found something else--live and learn. It seems like organizational issues are at play...someones feeding her bullshit in the back ground and she's trying to spit that shit up on me. Not hap'n cap'n! But, How do you not know what your banks terms are? She said ''NO BANK CASHES CHECKS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT CUSTOMERS'' Sounds like she needs a lesson in banking. For the record Maura since I could not get two words in edge wise, any bank that a check is drawn on will cash it-except for the hood bank you all deal with. Granted they make take a small fee but that is fine but for you to make up these "facts" as you go along are preposterous! So after back and forth of arguing with her about how she's doing me some type of favor, she folded and is putting the other half of my 1k down payment in the mail. Now I have two bullshit checks! Yay! Bottom line: DONT SIGN SHIT! Make sure they get it right and all the details are worked out before you book anything here, better yet find another spot.

Once I walked in, immediately the room of the event was decorated nicely. The ballroom was spacious, decent sized dance floor, and a bar. This particular event had a cash bar with complimentary soft drinks. I ordered a cosmopolitan drink that was made nicely. I peeped that the bar offered casamigos too (nope lol; I drove). The food was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the lobster bisque, salmon, and potatoes! Yummy! The staff were all nice and professional. Overall, this appears to be a nice venue to have a special occasion.

I understand rules and regulations but none of that is EVER a reason to be nasty to a customer. We have patronized this company for years. We have referred family and friends there. We have sent numerous churches and events to that place and he told us (over a matter of $22) that we were insignificant to him. His attitude was the absolute worst. I will tell everyone who listens not to patronize this place and I am seriously considering picketing them and causing an uproar...over $22. As an owner he should be ashamed. Edit: The owners threatened me with a lawsuit if I didn't take the picture down, so at my family's behest I am complying. However, strong arming customers and not even offering an apology for the way the treated my wife and publicly belittled and embarrassed her tells you what type of person he is. Absolutely awful.

Don't let the outside area fool you - the interior is beautiful, unique, and memorable! We added lots of string lights but it's the type of venue that does not need much to impress. There was only one bathroom, and going up and down the stairs (in heels) got to be a huge hassle. After the ceremony ended, that room was closed off and everyone had to squeeze in the tiny entrance room for the cocktail hour. Once the reception started, everything was the complete opposite -- very spread out and separated, which wasn't terrible, but the major issue was the main reception room. Their were hardly any tables for such a large number of people and the dance floor was tiny. We made do and still enjoyed ourselves, but would have liked to eat sitting down at an actual table! Although this type of venue wouldn't be my first choice for a wedding specifically, it was still beautiful and if the layout doesn't bother you, the decor and feel of the place overall were perfect!
