Takes Advantage of new clients. Makes you schedule in as many appointments as possible so they can charge you for each visit. The practitioners and the front office (billing and scheduling) do not communicate together whatsoever, it's like they don't even work in the same office. I received multiple bills from multiple entities, none of which were ever explained by a single person at this practice during any of my MULTIPLE visits cause they do not care. Avoid avoid avoid! I was referred to Dr. Abell by a buddy of mine after I was complaining about two other dermatologists who just didn't get it right. My buddy said the "skin doctor" will get my psoriasis right. I was skeptical. I made an appointment with Dr. Abell and to my surprise, I felt like she really cared about my problem and was so reassuring that she would find a way to treat it. And she was not just saying it. She and her excellent staff went to great lengths to remedy my problem. I was really grateful. Did the Doctor run a little late? Yes, but I thought about my last two dermatologists. They maybe were not as late, but they seemed like in such a rush to get me out, like I was on an assembly line and they only had 5-10 minutes for me. Dr. Abell graciously spent more time with me answering my questions. I knew she couldn't treat another skin problem at the same time, but at least I could tell her what it was and she listened. So, my buddy was right. Dr. Abell was great! She is very friendly and instantly makes you feel like she cares and you matter. She also has a terrific staff. They also care and are very helpful. And, I really like her waiting room. She has many amenities to enjoy while waiting to be seen. I'm really glad I saw Dr. Abell and I have already recommended her to my family and friends. In this day of assembly line mentality, Dr. Abell is an "old fashion" doctor who truly cares about her patients and greatly helps them with their skin problems. I know this first hand. Thank you. I could hug Dr. Abell. She saved my sisters life. My sister had a lesion on her leg that she showed to two other dermatologists who said it was "nothing". Dr. Abell saw it and immediately biopsied it. It was in fact life threatening melanoma. She caught it early enough so that my sister is still alive five years later. Dr. Abell. Plan to spend at least 30 minutes in the waiting room. They are slow! Dr. Abell doesn't spend much time with you. I feel rushed therefore I don't get an opportunity to ask questions. I had a cyst and the first thing she wants to do is put me on antibiotics. I had C-diff awhile back from too many antibiotics so no way. read more

Creams creams and more creams. I had a chronic ear infection and went to my ear, nose and throat doctor and another dermatologist for 4 years. All they gave me were steroid creams. My ear never got better! I went to Dr. Abell, she cultured my ear immediately and found that I had a bacterial infection. She gave me an antibiotic instead of a steroid cream. Her staff is fabulous, and she is a down to earth and knowledgeable Physician (who seemed to employ one of the best PA's that I have ever met). Whether you are going there because you are having a funky breakout (I blame my stupid hormones), or because you used to be s sun worshipper and now you have a suspicious mole, I suggest visiting Dr Abell's office. The waits are minimal, the staff is knowledgeable and welcoming, and what can be an uncomfortable procedure never seems as bad as it could be. A+++! read more

I first visited Dr. Abell's office for a break out I was having a few months back. At the office I noticed signs and promotions for cosmetic services. I had been thinking about trying something for my new wrinkles (thank you 30s). I asked the front desk staff about scheduling a consultation. Dr. Abell was wonderful! She took the time to look at my face and pointed out what she noticed. I was able to schedule for the following week to come in for botox injections. Everything was carefully explained to me and they took a bunch of photos so that the results could be seen next time! Dr. Abell took her time and I never felt like she was rushing. Best of all, she doesn't over do it! I was worried I would look overdone like some people I have seen. But she gave just the right amount and I have never felt better! And as an added bonus I received a free microdermabrasion treatment last week! This place really has it all! I would highly recommend Dr. Abell's office for all cosmetics. read more

Her PA treated my daughters acne. They don't tell you to expect an appt with the PA When you schedule. We went about 4 times for peels. I paid by check as my insurance did not cover dermatology. They sent me a bill for $100 18 months after a supposed appt which I refused to pay. It went to collection. I recently learned of a friend who received a $200 bill over a year later. read more

Went in for this weird foot rash I had. I felt silly going to a dermatologist for it because it wasn't that serious but it was worrisome to me. Dr Abell made me feel good about coming in and treated me with respect. She was very knowledgeable and the rash went away per her advice. I was diagnosed with Melanoma Skin Cancer. Needless to say it was disturbing. I called several dermatologist offices for help and direction for the issue and for surgery. I just could not get the answers or help I needed on the phone. Then I happened to call Dr. Abell's office. A wonderful woman named Janene answered the phone. She insisted she call my primary care physician to get the lab results and I was shocked at this offer because no other office took such interest in my situation Janene then called me back in a few minutes. Dr. Abell had looked at my lab work and recommended a surgeon to me. Gave the phone number too! First thing the next morning Janene called me and asked if I was successful getting into this doctor that Dr. Abell had recommended. Unfortunately my Insurance was not accepted there and that is what I reported to her. She said I will call you right back. And she did with in minutes. She gave me another Doctor at Hillman Cancer center. I felt like I really mattered to Janene and Dr. Abell and I had never even met them!!! The doctor recommended for the surgery was just who I needed and the melanoma was removed promptly. After recovery I met Dr. Abell and Janene. My office visit in their office was a pleasant experience. I want to Thank these women for their care and help! read more

I have been a patient with Dr. Abell for about 5 years. I have seen both the doctor and physician assistants and have had no problems with any of them. They have all answered my questions and explained treatment. I really havent had to wait long for my appointment and the new waiting is big and comfortable. I have also had to call with questions about some of my prescriptions and the staff has always been extremely nice and if I had to leave a message they were prompt on returning my call. I would definitely recommend Dr. Abell to any of my family and friends. read more

I was recommended to see a different doctor but ended up being scheduled with Dr. Abell. After waiting in the lobby for approximately 45 minutes, I went back for a quick body scan to make sure I did not have any cancerous moles/freckles. She said everything looked good until I pointed out a mark on my ear and asked if it appeared normal. She seemed confused as to what it was or if it was normal, first saying it didn't look like anything and then saying "well, actually, we should biopsy it." I wasn't sure that she was very confident in her answer so I asked for confirmation. Yes, a biopsy it was. She also was going to write me a prescription for some redness on my face. About 7 or 8 minutes after she left, I politely asked one of the other employees (who were all very friendly BTW) if she knew how much longer it would be as I realized I had to be back to work for an appointment. She said she would check for me and went back to the room where Dr. Abell was. To my surprise, I hear Dr. Abell sarcastically yell "WELL SHE GAVE US ENOUGH THINGS TO DO IT'S GOING TO BE A WHILE!" (I was all the way down the hall.)Very professional, especially for a Dr., yes I know. I was shocked as well. The girl came back looking slightly embarrassed as she was sure from the look on my face that I heard her. Nothing was said and a few minutes later I left. Even after that remark, I called a couple of days later to schedule the biopsy and clarified 3 times on the phone (because of the lack of confidence in Dr. Abell's request for the biopsy) that I was ONLY scheduling a biopsy and nothing else. I had no other reason to take time off work to go back if a biopsy was unnecessary. I also figured I would make sure this mark was ok and then change to another doctor. About a month later, I arrive for my biopsy, which I scheduled early morning in hopes of avoiding another 45 minute wait. After being taken into the room, I was greeted by a new employee/medical assistant who asked why I was here. I explained, knowing where this was going, and she said she worked in a plastic surgery office in FL and that it is not easy to biopsy an ear without the risk of scarring and that they were not going to do the biopsy. It sounded like Dr. Abell was not even going to come in but she did right after and asked me the same question, which I proceeded to explain again. Shouldn't it be clear why I was here? Especially after confirming and reconfirming. She then asked the medical assistant for her advice (really?) and then told me she was not going to biopsy that it is not necessary! Really!? She then asked if there was anything else I was here for. NO. NOTHING. This was discussed in prior conversations. Without apologizing or admitting fault, she immediately said well then you can go ahead and go and we just won't put the appointment through and will act as if it never happened. Now I am especially angry that I made arrangements to take time off work, wasted my time, and worried about something that was apparently no big deal. But, I politely excused myself and left, thinking to myself, I will never return to this office. This was in April 2015. It is now September 2015 and I have received multiple bills for this appointment stating that I am past-due. I have made over a half dozen calls to the office and the billing department and have had no resolution. I also contacted my insurance company to report the unethical fraudulent actions of this doctor and notified them that no services were rendered on the date in which they were billed. My insurance company already paid the majority of the bill, but due to the ignorance, lack of professionalism, and disregard of this "doctor," I will contact our family lawyer before I will pay a cent. MY ADVICE TO YOU - SEEK ANOTHER DOCTOR. One in which you can trust with your health and know he or she is ethical and has your best interest in mind. You will NOT find this in Dr. Abell. read more

I went to Dr. Abell's for a facial appointment. I signed in and only had a few minutes wait. This was my first facial, and I absolutely enjoyed it. It was so relaxing and I felt very comfortable the entire time. My facial was done by Megan, and I recommend her very highly. Before Megan did anything to me, she would explain to me exactly what she was going to do and what she was putting on my face, I definitely plan another visit really soon. Being a long time user of tanning beds, I had seen a couple dermatologists in the past for skin exams that barely took the time to really look at my skin. Dr. Abell was totally different! She took so much time on my skin exam and made me feel like she really cared about my health and making sure she didn't miss anything! She took tons of pictures and had me come back in a couple months to see if anything was changing which I loved and had not seen at any other office. When I returned for my three month follow-up she noticed a very slight change in a mole I hadn't even noticed, so she did a biopsy and it came back a severely atypical mole that was evolving into a melanoma! Dr. Abell truly saved my life and I'm so thankful!!! She is extremely knowledgeable/experienced and saw something that every other office brushed off as a normal mole. Dr. Abell and her staff were Amazing!! I can't stress enough what a wonderful experience I had with her office from the beginning to the end! I've been a patient of Dr. Abell and her PA's for some time now and i love them all! Dr. Abell always makes up for when there's been a wait to get back and be seen with all sorts of goodies :) . I usually get the 2-4-1 deal Being able to see the PA and Dr. Abell herself i enjoy getting two sets of eyes to examine me. i enjoy a down to earth doctor who is not mean and judgmental and who just cares about her patients and that's how Dr. Abell is!!! She and her PA's have caught many skin cancers on mine and a melanoma!! i thank her and her office for being so kind and thorough with my skin examinations. Was first seen by a PA, but the physician was then consulted. Both took time to answer my questions, and seemed genuinely concerned with my well-being.
