I picked Heidi based off a few reviews on Google but I clearly should have come on here to look as…read morewell. I agree with previous reviews saying she has a harsh demeanor. Below are the instances I remember, aside from her general attitude being unfriendly. Heidi was snippy with me from my first appointment when I asked a question about the form I had to fill out for Kaiser. It's clear she doesn't like Kaiser due to this and a previous post. One time I told her that I still had numbness in my foot and she asked me if she thought she should put a needle in the middle of my foot. I was confused as to why she was asking me this and said "I don't know, if you think it will help." I could tell she was irritated by that answer and she proceeded to jam the needle abruptly in my foot. It was very alarming. I was sick for an appointment and had to cancel the morning of, and her text to me was very cold about needing 24 hour notice in the future. I decided to never return. Finally, I was going through some old mail and saw I had a bill saying I owed for that visit I had to cancel. I texted her about it and she said I owed that plus $2 from a previous visit. I said I didn't know I had to pay for a cancelled visit and sent the payment. She later replied saying she was confused what I meant. I told her I had to cancel my appointment and yet I was still charged and that was never told to me I would still have to pay. She then wrote me a long text about why she did the charge and said she would refund me since it was a mistake on her end. She also told me "no need to be upset" and I said I wasn't I was just asking why I was charged which I thought was valid. She then wrote me "good luck", which I think we all know what she really meant by that.

My primary care manager referred me to her for a shoulder issue that continued to linger which…read morelimited me in many ways. I could not workout, golf, or even do a simple pushup without pain. I was thinking surgery was my only recourse. After about 12 visits, I was able to do all of these things that I loved again. Heidi is knowledgeable, experienced and just a really good person all the way around.

I wish I had read the yelp reviews more carefully because I would have known to ask for Deborah. I would expect holistic healthcare practitioners to be patient and non judgmental but that was not my experience with Adam. Even though my first visit was not great I bought the 3-visit package because I was so desperate for relief. I followed his instructions to change my diet (no cold foods) and took the herbs he prescribed. I finally stopped taking the herbs after a couple weeks (Adam was not pleased, "Do you WANT to get better??") because they come in a powder form that does not dissolve in water. The taste is almost unbearable. I wish Adam had told me sooner that the herbs can be purchased in pill form. I did begin to feel better and believe that diet, herbs, and acupuncture are healing. I'm going to look for a different practitioner to continue my treatment.

My general practitioners basically told me that there was nothing they could do about my acne, migraines, overall inflammation throughout my body and weight gain, so I started looking into alternative medicine. It's hard to know where to start and there are so many quacks out there but then I met Shani! She is not only practiced, knowledgeable and professional doctor of acupuncture but she is an all around phenomenal human. Within weeks of seeing her my migraines and acne started to clear. Within months my inflammation and weight significantly decreased and within a year I was completely feeling like myself again. I cannot overstate how wonderful she is. If you've been looking for help with fertility, pain management, mental health issues, skin care and whole host other health problems I HIGHLY recommend setting up an appointment.

Going to see Dr. Shani at Root and Soul was a life-changing experience for me. I have several…read morechronic illnesses, and my chief complaint when making my appointment was plantar fas. in one foot and osteoarthritis pretty much throughout my extremities. My regular osteo treating physician at Sharp recommended accupuncture. I've had accupuncture before, with little results. However, that was not with Dr. Shani and I was not consistent in my treatments. After 3 months of weekly appointments, which concluded in September, I am still feeling 60% better. Now, for those of you unfamiliar with the aches of aging, this is miraculous. Osteoarthritis is not a wound that "heals," rather a constant, nagging friend that keeps you from your daily activities. To have a 60% reduction in pain is better than most over the counter NSAIDs, without the nasty side effect of destroying what's left of my kidneys. SHE IS A TRUE PROFESSIONAL and her practice is a gift to those of us in the east county area. If you have considered accupuncture before, or even had treatments somewhere else with so-so results, please consider seeing her. Fair warning: consistent treatments lead to lasting results. As i stated, I stopped treatment after 3 months, but I continue to reap the benefits. I wish our country thought that healthcare is a human right and covered these expenses, but no such luck. I invested in myself and am very satisfied with the results. I will return to treatment with Dr. Shani for periodic tune ups. She is a wonderful person, professional, caring, and extremely attentive to individual needs. If you are considering accupuncture, please make her your first appointment. She did assist me with paying for my treatment by spreading out my payments, which is greatly appreciated.
