But my experience with The Dog Pawlor in Chester, NY has officially pushed me over the edge. This is not based on one isolated incident. There have been several occasions where my appointments have been canceled, rescheduled, canceled again, and moved multiple times. Every time, I've tried to be understanding and flexible because I've been a loyal customer. But today was the final straw. I showed up for a rescheduled appointment at the exact time I was given, only for no one to show up. My calls went unanswered, my texts went unanswered, and I received absolutely no communication. I rearranged my entire day and canceled important plans to accommodate this appointment. I was then left sitting in my car with my dog, unable to go where I needed to go afterward because I had specifically planned my day around his grooming appointment. I completely understand that emergencies happen and schedules sometimes need to change. What I cannot understand is repeatedly canceling and rescheduling a loyal customer and then not even having the basic courtesy to show up, answer a call or text, or let me know what was going on. It is incredibly inconsiderate and disrespectful of someone else's time. My time matters too. I've given The Dog Pawlor multiple chances and have been more than patient, but today took me over the edge. Unfortunately, after this experience, I can no longer recommend this business.

The walkers that came to us were wonderful. They respected our home, rules, and always treated our dogs like they were their own. Aylin was normally assigned to our pups. She would always send us great photos and updates from her 30 minute walks/ playdates with the dogs. She took the time to figure out what worked best for our two. The dogs, or The Cheesies as she called them, were always thrilled to see her. Our dog, Reggie, also went to daycare at their facility for a few weeks, but because of his dog reactivity/ easy overstimulation, we decided that utilizing their walking service would be better for him. I loved that they picked him up from home for us. Their services really helped us out and made us not have to worry about how we would get him to and from the facility. Reggie also received a bath/ blowout at their facility and he came back smelling great.

Since the new ownership took over, our experience has gone steadily downhill. Prior to this, we had…read morenever once had an issue with grooming--no matter how long our dog's hair had gotten, even after COVID, the groomers always managed to brush him out without any problems. Unfortunately, that level of care has completely changed. We've dealt with several poor grooming jobs under the new owners, but this last visit was the final straw. We received a text saying they needed to go shorter, and we agreed--but when we picked up our dog, he had been completely shaved down to the skin. Our dog is part Husky, a breed that should never be shaved, and any reputable groomer should know that. To make matters worse, he had a cut on his neck from how close they got to the skin. Not only was the grooming unacceptable, but the staff also refused to take any accountability. Rather than admitting they were uncomfortable grooming our dog, they chose to proceed--and take our money--at the expense of his well-being. I have added photos of what he should look like versus how he looked when we picked him up. I can no longer recommend this place. Since the change in ownership and grooming staff, the quality and care have drastically declined.
