This company had their number placed in a job posting on Craigslist, so when I called, they set up a meeting with me to be held prior to an interview for the position. Well, I had a last minute emergency family situation and called to let them know that I'd need to reschedule. The woman I had done all this with, Alicia, seemed very put out about the situation.
Maybe I called while she was in the middle of something else, but she was clipped and flustered about setting up another time, mentioning that the position (that we'd discussed) would need to be filled by/before next week. During our first conversation, she'd told me that once my information was on file they'd be able to contact me about other positions if the company didn't hire me for this one, so I figured I could still set something up to do the initial paperwork later on. Before I was even able to coordinate that she gave me a very dismissive, "Thank you for your effort" before hanging up on me.
Obviously my needing to reschedule was not my fault, but I felt that she treated me like gutter trash for needing to attend to a potentially serious issue. I'm surprised at this lack of professionalism, especially from a staffing company. There are of course, plenty of other companies that treat people with a minimum of respect, so I'd look elsewhere. read more
