I wait a few minutes then ring the bell & they say to come on back. I mention needing a gift card & Jacob says they each do their own but that he will be right out. A long time passes, he emerges and then said he can't do Myles' gift cards. I asked why I can't just get one from "Black Door", he said they each do their own, I'm getting upset at this point and he offers to "print a generic one offline"...10 minutes later or so one is printed & he hands it to me. I give him my debit card and he says, "Oh I can't do cards, only cash, Myles can do cards but not me," "What?" He then offers Walgreens for cash across the 4 lane busy Forest Ave street. I then ask when Myles is in and he says tomorrow around 1 and then said, "I have an appointment so I can't spend much time on this" WOW Jacob's time is obviously worth more than mine since he just wasted about an hour of mine. I don't know what kind of shady operation he is running but someone needs to look into this. Myles would be smart to get rid of Jacob who has zero people, customer service skills or business skills. Do not spend your time or money here.

Real conversations with John Biswell @ Made-Rite tattoo…read more I contracted his services based on recommendations and a review of his portfolio. Needless to say, great artist. I got excited and decided to give a deposit on a full day session 7+ hours for a quarter sleeve (750$) It is my understanding (confirmed by several industry veterans) that deposits are customary so that the artist can put some energy and time into sketching and planing without fear of being stiffed or blown off. I'm about it and unreservedly dropped 200$ on the spot. As you will see below John refused to sketch ANYTHING. I had poor experience with a previous tattoo artist who freehanded something; one offed it, and I was disappointed with the end result hence I asked for sketch references. I compromised by asking John to take a sharpie to me a week before to give me an idea of the dimensions the tattoo would occupy on my body and put me at ease.. wasn't looking for a commitment to an image or details just a idea of what we were thinking a day under the gun would look like...was blown off. He never responded. Asked to adjust the start time of our session... blown off never responded. Long story short. Very disappointed with the weekend and energy I invested in getting this ink. Very anti climactic. John refunded my deposit and I am appreciative of it but decided to air his grievances about my purported disrespect of his artistic process on Facebook. Tattooing is a delicate balance between consumable art, the artists process and the customers expectation. After all, can't just move the picture to another room with better light or sell it at a yard sale if you grow tried of it. the relationship requires allot of trust and is the epitome of permanence. You don't want any art infused with negativity. My body, your art, our day.... it is not one sided. And I think that ego can't be infused into a process that should be relatively intimate and two sided. This is my rebuttal... As with so many discretionary services there are innumerable ways to decide where to spend your money. I don't feel bad about not spending mine on John Biswell art and I recommend that others do the same.

My experience: I have had multiple piercings done by Caleb my conch and both nipples. I honestly couldn't be happier the advice he gave for healing and aftercare. He was thorough and the shop had a premade card to go home, it included all post care instructions. My nipple piercings are perfectly straight and the bar selection was spot on. He was extremely professional and kind and made me feel comfortable during the entire process. (To add some context, I had one inverted nipple that he was able to still pierce and it honestly solved that issue forever. He mentioned generally he wont do nipple piercings on inverted nipples but if its not severe it may still be possible. Get a consultation if your concerned.) My conch was done with a hoop which I switched to a labret to heal and now that its healed I put a clicker ring in. The environment was clean the materials used were top notch and sterile. There was privacy when needed. Props to them for doing it all with passion for the art. Planning to go back to him for a few more piercings very soon.
