We had a terrible experience with AJ. They came out to do an overhaul of our backyard. We had…read moreinherited a weed filled mess when we purchased our home. Initially we were pleased with the team who did the work and the job that was completed. However, shortly after they seeded for new grass, all of the weeds we had requested be remediated began to come back. They were overpowering the grass seed and the grass was therefore not able to grow. We spent a week calling AJ with no response. We finally got a call back from Carol (owner) after many days who told us we were not taking care of the lawn or following instructions and it was our fault. This was false as we had two sprinklers watering morning and night in each spot where grass seed had been put down. At this point we called AJ and left a message saying we would like to know what we should do as we were not getting grass even though we were following their instructions, and it seemed that the weeds were taking over. They did not call back, and they continued to not call back after we left them a voicemail every day for a week. When we finally did get in contact with them, Jim (the owner) was extremely rude and condescending to me. He said he was ignoring my calls because he had nothing to say to me. He also said stop being so uptight it will all work out. When Jim talked to me he told me he was personally checking our lawn regularly. When he talked to my husband he said he was sending a soil specialist to check our lawn regularly. Not sure which or if either was the truth. They then sent someone a week later to look at the yard and put peet moss down. This still did not cure the weed issue, and in fact fed the issue more, so we continued to call again. They ignored our phone calls once again and we could not get into contact with them. We finally had to take care of the lawn issues ourselves, as we had had the weeds over grow once and we were unable to combat them at that point. We did not want to get into this situation again, and since AJ would not get into contact with us we had to take matters into our own hands. I left them a message stating we would pay approximately 85% of the price since the work was never completed if they would agree we could part ways. They of course never called me back. The last straw was a week after we left them a voicemail about payment. Jim came to my home and was wandering the backyard. I then stepped out of the shower to hear him ringing the doorbell repeatedly and banging on the front door. He did this at least three times before leaving. I was scared to answer the door as his loud banging did not leave me confident that he could resolve this matter face to face without any further altercation. We have submitted full payment to them to hopefully ensure that they never let themselves on our property again. This has been the worst experience in customer service my husband or I have ever received.

They are timely and super professional while still being personable. They went out of their way to come out on various days to offer suggestions regarding the design build as well as landscaping options. The one thing that I loved about Mr. Hidrogo and his team is that when they start your work they only work on one project until completion and then start another project so there are no conflicts with other projects. Daily they arrived on time and worked diligently throughout the entire day. Once their day ended they ensured that all areas were clean and that they left your home presentable. I can't imagine how they feel at the end of the day as it was extremely hot and humid but that did not stop the work and dedication that they had to ensuring that we were pleased with the end product. The amount of work that they completed was done in such a timely manner that I was shocked! Our project was fully completed within 9 days! This was over the course of three weeks due to holiday closure and two days being set aside for their landscaping days. No need to worry if you're going to like what they are doing as they frequently have you come look at how things are going for your approval. This is a family owned and operated company and as you work with them you start to feel apart of the family as well. If you are looking for paver additions or landscaping this is the company to go with! Their workmanship and attention to detail is second to none.

We couldn't have been happier with the service they provided. The staff was hard working and courteous. It is the first time we have had ANY home maintenance work done that did not require our having to clean up afterwards. Also, the owner is "hands-on" and personally checked the work in progress. We would highly recommend Matthies to anyone in need of landscaping work.

The previous homeowner had recommended Matthies' but warned us that they were considerable higher priced than other service providers. Despite a significantly higher price quote, we elected to use Matthies' as we assumed they would provide a much greater level of service than their competition. Unfortunately, we were wrong. The service was sub-par and the prices were much higher than their competition. The quality of work provided for lawn care services is not particularly stellar, but the prices were out of this world! After mutual agreement on a 2015 lawn care program, we established Matthies' as our provider of choice, again thinking that their familiarity with our property would be beneficial. They performed a spring clean up and cut the grass for 50% more than the cost of our neighbors virtually identical lawn and then just stopped showing up. They virtually disappeared and we were left to seek alternate service provider mid-season. I must credit them for some of the heavier duty landscaping that they did on our property prior to our ownership which involved building walls and creating flower beds. However, they "stink" at providing more mundane services like lawn care and light duty landscaping tasks. It seems they want to make a fortune from a small job. When the jobs aren't large enough their support is nil. We merely wanted decent lawn care and seasonal maintenance from a reliable vendor. Matthies' did not fit the bill. In summary, they are very high priced and unreliable for "regular" lawn care and "maintenance landscaping."

They were damaging our sprinkler system and charging extremely high prices for repairs. On the last invoice, I got involved and questioned the cause for the needed repairs and was told they did not know, I asked for proof of the damage and was told I would need to turn the sprinkler system on to see the damage. I turned the system on and found no damage to our system. One year they failed to send a new contract, although we had been using them for years, they never followed up with us and we failed to realize that we needed a new contract. We realized in late April when we were notified by the village that we needed to cut our grass by the following Monday, that gave us about 4 days to have it done. We contacted Langton and informed them of the issue, instead of saying, no worries we can get you guys on schedule, just sign the contract, they sent us a quote for over $4,500 for a one time cutting, we spend less then $5,000 for weekly landscaping every year with them. Our site manager panicked and signed the proposal without approval (She's long gone). They had several dead bushes (about a foot high) that staff said had been dead for years, why didn't they cut them down or offer to replace them? They're suppose to be landscapers, right? Our spot lights around the building were damaged by their mowers. We could see the blade markings. They weren't responsible for this. They would blow the garbage into our bushes and never provided spring or fall cleaning as the agreement stated. We failed to monitor this company and they took advantage of us, they charged us for every little thing when they realized everything was being approved and not questioned by the previous staff. When I took over and started questioning them they began ignoring me and I found out they were instead going directly to the previous office manager who would forward everything to me. They were gone at the end of contract which thankfully was only for one year. We learned that changing companies every 2-3 years allows us to bring in new eager companies that will offer more for your business than a horrible company that takes advantage of their customers who fail to questioned them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

I can only assume all of these poor customers are all dissatisfied with the service provided by Rubino.
