It has been almost ten years since my last review, so I wanted to give an update on my experience with Dean as my piano teacher. I have now been working with Dean for about 13 years. She is the reason that I have kept up with my piano practice. The quality of her teaching has not degraded, so my review hasn't really changed. She continues to be amazing and wonderful to work with--she is warm and motivating and very patient, she quickly identifies the most important areas to focus on that make a meaningful improvement in my playing, and her extensive experience and knowledge of music has contributed to my enhanced understanding of what it is that I'm playing and trying to express. On top of this, she's flexible in terms of working with me virtually (through video conference) in the midst of the global pandemic, but still as sharp in identifying areas that need to be developed or appreciating nuances in my playing.
For context, I played piano when I was in junior high for a few years and stopped, because playing piano felt stressful and more like work with my then piano teachers. As an adult, I wanted to take up piano again, but this time wanted to take my time finding just the right teacher. And Dean more than delivered against what I had hoped for in a piano teacher.
Dean teaches children and adults on piano, and also teaches voice lessons. The best way to reach her is through updated e-mail at:
