I went to this location for vaccines and was able to schedule an appointment very quickly. The entire check-in process was smooth and efficient. During my visit, Daphne, a Medical Assistant in Occupational Medicine, was fantastic. She was empathetic, caring, and made the experience very comfortable. There were also plenty of free parking spots available, which was a huge plus. read more

8/19/2022 I went to urgent care yesterday and was given medication for nausea and a covid test. Later that day a man called from urgent care to tell me I have covid. He said he was going to have the covid team call me to set up getting plaxlovid(?). As of yet, I've received no call from their covid team. The initial care was fine, but the follow up is subpar. Think I'll go to a UW urgent care next time. They open later, but they are more thorough. 8/20/2022 I am updating and removing 2 stars. They still couldn't get themselves together to get my treatment set up. I'm glad I had another resource for meds. There was no apology for forgetting to follow through or the clumsy phone call. Dean Clinic was stellar, SSM Health is a money-making machine with healthcare, seemingly, an afterthought. Shameful. I don't know why it says I'm in San Francisco. I'm in Madison, WI. Do they have SSM Health in Cali? read more

Dean Care is great if you want THE worst Of the worst healthcare!! Ive had UW and GHC for 4yrs each and they both were amazing. That was until until our cheap City of Sun Prairie employer cancelled all policies with them and we had Only Dean CaRe to choose from! Have had Dean for 3yrs now, have had 2 PCPs who've left. Not 1x has any PCP checked me over or touched me, even when im sick. They take their 30minutes, dont care what you need. DeanCare-All their clinics have become an assembly line and it's disgusting!! read more

Pretty Bad...I am insured through Dean and have seen a primary care doctor for over 4 years through them. My primary doctor left to work somewhere else, and I was left without refills for my handful of medications while waiting to be seen by my new primary care doctor. I went to urgent care and waited for 2 hours to be seen, and then explained my situation. The nurse was extremely pleasant and was the only part of the visit that I have no complaints about. The doctor then came in, looked at my chart, and told me that he could refill my medications, but could not refill my Gabapentin. When I asked why, he told me that it was a Schedule 2 drug - I was puzzled and did some quick research, and found that the drug is not scheduled at all. I showed him and asked if he could verify that somehow as that is a medication that I have taken everyday for 4 years and has some serious withdrawals effects including seizures. As soon as I questioned his authority in any manner, he quickly turned into a condescending jerk and only gave me a one word response of "Yep" to everything I asked - I clearly was looking for more information or some kind of explanation. The worst bedside manner of any doctor or nurse that I have ever experienced in my life. At the end of the visit I ended up just walking out and going to a different Urgent Care where they were happy to help me. I understand that being a doctor is hard work and can be frustrating, but there is never a reason to act condescending or to make it clear to the patient that you are talking down to them. When a patient asks a question and you respond like an upset 9 year old child that has been caught lying, I lose a lot of respect for the Doctor, and the clinic as a whole. read more

I would love to rate them, but could never get anyone to answer the phone to get an appointment. Left on hold for over 25 min. Finally left a message requesting a call back but never received one. I would recommend going somewhere that actually "wants" to treat people. read more

Poorly managed mess! Dean Care has really went down the drain. This clinic is horrible. Every time we have been to the clinic they are running over an hour behind, this tells me two things they are under staffed and the staff they do have may not be experienced enough to keep up. The receptionists on phones are always rude if you can get through to actually talk to someone because hold times are typically well over 10min. When I called to get my child in for a flu shot it was nearly impossible, and I was told the wrong information. Be prepared to not get in for months too, no access... we were told they were booking out till the end of January just for a dam flu shot! It's beyond me that they have the urgent care wait room mixed with the peds waiting room. This shows me they don't give a f$u@k about peds patients that have compromised immune systems. Waiting area is always dirty. Yet there are plenty of receptionists sitting behind the desks, they need to be out wiping down high touch areas so germs are not spreading. read more

I hate doctors. Lets be honest. I don't go unless I'm dying or because I have to for work. Earlier last year, I went in for what I told them was a yearly physical. This was coded as establishing patient visit instead, so instead of being free (thanks Affordable health care act!) it was 160 bucks. To literally be weighed, tell her my family history, and tell the nurse practitioner I needed to lose weight. Whatever, I paid it because I needed it for work. I went back earlier this month cause I woke up and immediately knew I had pink eye. I went back to the same doctor, literally said, I have pink eye and she agreed and I was on my way in 10 minutes flat with a rx for antibiotics. My bill? 172. First, turns out, the clinic is not in network with my insurance. That's totally my bad as I forgot we changed insurance in October, and I previously worked in health insurance and I should have known better. Still, 180 dollars, what they billed my insurance, for me to SELF DIAGNOSE PINK EYE is high way robbery. I'm going to try and fight the bill, and although I won't win, I plan to tell them I was there for LITERALLY ten minutes, and I self diagnosed myself so 172 is literally a crime. Even if they weren't out of network, I would still find another doctor because the level of "care" is appalling and the prices are deplorable. read more

I was seen by Dr Schwartzstein in urgent care. His level of incompetence is literally terrifying. I had an infection in my tooth that occurred over the weekend so urgent care was my only option. The infection was so obvious I couldn't believe it when he said he remained unconvinced one existed at all. Really?! So it's normal for a persons gum line to swell over the tooth then?? I understand your not a dentist. I also understand infection is infection and an urgent care doc should recognize the signs. Regardless I would have settled for him not talking to me like a 5 year old... read more

I brought my daughter in to get stitches for a laceration on her foot. I sat her down in the waiting room and went to check her in. The receptionist was friendly to my face but then I went and sat down with my daughter and we overheard the receptionists talking about her. One of them said,"If they ask for pain meds it's a scam." The other said,"It can't hurt that much if she's walking on it." As they are not healthcare providers I hadn't even discussed my daughter's pain level with them. I had only told them that she was bleeding and probably needed stitches. The nurse called us back before I could confront them but I let them know I would be talking to their manager. On a brighter note the PA, Dave, who stitched my daughter up was very personable and did a great job! I called to speak with someone this morning and I got an I'm sorry but I still don't feel like that is enough. I would have loved my teenage daughter to get an apology letter from both of the adult women that choose to talk about her behind her back without meeting her or seeing her injury! read more

The Dean Clinic at Stoughton Road is pretty perfect. My family has found them to be an excellent resource at some of the worst times we have had. Friendly doctors and PAs always listening and working hard to bring us back to good health. Never look forward to having to go, but when it is a must they do a quality job. read more

What can be said not already echoed in other upset reviews? Care about your health? They don't. Lies about wait times in urgent care. Unable to diagnose issues when actually seen. Flippant disregard & possible profiling of patients. That's my mistake for returning when 10 years ago a professional recommendation of "Just stop being depressed" was given as a solution to a mental health visit. Save your time, money, and well being by going to a different clinic. read more

Walked out and got a refund on my co-pay after waiting nearly one hour for an optometry appointment.

Misdiagnosis. All I can say is avoid dean are at all costs. Find a place that knows what their doing and hires doctors that graduated at the TOP of their class, not the class clown dropouts. read more

Wow. I just switched to them for insurance. the heathcare system should be free at this point. I have never been treated so little by someone so ill fit for their position. Just because i am a you ger looking adult does not mean i cant afford my coverage. Also when i spoke to the pharmacis, you should have all my info in the computer. why do i need to tell you sientific names of the meds im ordering. Also, eta. if its going to take more then 15 minutes to get my pharmacy med tells me. i dont need to be cast into a social ecomical group based on my looks or age. I can afford what im paying for. The professional level of this facility is a 0 out of 10. I have never in my life approached a pharmacist and been asked what drugs im getting. no its name, dob, insurance, my charts has my scripts ive been taking my entire life. dean your healthcare front of house and pharmacist at this lication are terrible. Bad. i will get names tomorrow when i pick up my 3 meds that turned into a 2 hour issue w/o recieving. Its just bad. if the person who cared for me at the pharmacy ate at my restauran. i would ask them if they want there water with ice in an empty glass ice on the side water in the glass i do t understand. Thats how i was treated at the pharmacy. Like a f* clown. Heard read more

I'm not sure why this location is labeled Dean West as it is on the East side off of Stoughton Rd. Anyways, I'm writing a review for the Stoughton Rd. clinic. I went in to the urgent care as I was having severe ear pain. I had a tube put in my ear about a year prior by an ENT in effort to help side effects of a condition I have. The urgent care doctor came in the room, looked in to my ear for about 10 seconds and said that he didn't see anything wrong and that he didn't know why I had pain, and to take Ibuprofen and sent me on my way. I was educating him on the condition I had, and he was doubting me and telling me that I had my information "wrong". I was very insulted. I don't expect general doctors to know specialized conditions in the human body, but DON'T question my knowledge about a condition that I have! What a waste of a co-payment. I then called my ENT reporting the severe pain they had me come in the same day and found that the tube was no longer in my ear drum, was lodged in the canal and was pretty swollen/inflamed which was obviously causing my pain. I sent a letter to the Dean Clinic expressing my disgust with the service that I received, and felt that it wasn't right for them to charge my insurance as I didn't get the service that I deserved. They wrote back and said they were going to "waive" my co-pay for that day, but then they never did. If I have another urgent need - I will not be seeking out the clinic on the east side, could probably diagnose myself better on my own by searching the internet! read more

I had 3 pap test and everyone was inconclusive. I was charged for all 3 and know they say I need to have a 4th done. I never had that happen with UW Health. Of course I had to pay for every one of them even though I was collecting the samples read more

Everyone here is always very nice and professional. Wait times are about what to be expected. Building is newer and clean.

Terrible customer service. Note - if you choose to be in a profession where you speak to people on a daily basis, you should at least try to act like you care. I was just on a call just asking about my prescriptions and was questioned as if I was abusing my medications. I have never felt so offended before. The woman on the phone talked to me in such a condescending manner; acted as though I was a bother to her. Not to mention that she was laughing with others while she was on the phone with me. Excuse me, but this is your job. If you are unable to be social or polite to others, find a different occupation. I will be looking for a different healthcare provider. read more

Dr. Bales is awesome but her nurses, Nicole and Carrie are rude and nasty when you call or email them on My Chart, like you are beneath them and are wasting their time. Those two need to find their personality and quick before Dr. Bales suffers from it because patients that hire her for their care will get fed up. Brook has always been great but you cannot request to speak to just one, you are at the mercy of whomever answers the phone for Dr. Bales. Find your personality ladies!!! Not everyone is a drug seeker and crybaby! read more

I signed up for a Dean Health plan less than two months ago and received a letter this week informing me that my premium is being jacked up by about $150/month! It was already barely within my price range and now it's completely unaffordable and I am stuck with it. Plus I went in last week for help with an infection and the level of "care" i received was equivalent to what I read on Google for free. When I became upset by the lack of help, the nurse got an attitude with me and told me not to expect her to find some magical cure. Terrible service and a terrible company. I will be changing plans as soon as possible. read more

HORRIBLE!!! - **PLEASE READ THE FIRST ONE AT LEAST** 2 incredibly bad things happened to me at this location. I just moved to Madison 2 weeks earlier from Long Island, and needed a new doctor: 1***THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN*** I had a family medicine doctor nonchalantly increase my thyroid medication from 112 to 150mg in 2 weeks back in January 2012(I have been on 112 since the age of 11, so at that point, 10 years). I went from an underactive thyroid to a SEVERELY overactive thyroid. Google side effects of over medicating hypothyroidism, and you'll understand. I woke up every single night in a full blown panic attack, I lost 35lbs in 7 months by over eating, I couldn't keep on the weight, my heart was racing all of the time (I naturally have a low heart rate and blood pressure), I had incredible temper tantrums, I was depressed and cried all the time over nothing. I found a real doctor who said she was outraged by this & couldn't believe how careless this doctor was. It's 3 years later and I still suffer from a fear of having a panic attack in the middle of the night. I am terrified & anxious to go to sleep every single night, I have horrible anxiety ticks that stuck around after dealing with them for 14 months (now they're habits). I am NOW (3 yrs later) just getting my thyroid back to normal and leveled out. THIS EVENT HAS RUINED MY LIFE!!! 2. A nurse accused me of being a "drug addict" because I called to get a 3 month prescription of synthroid (a non addictive thyroid medication), and they only gave me 1 month. Later the head nurse said this rude nurse never printed them out, so it was her fault. Never received an apology for such an outrageous accusation. I WILL NEVER EVER STEP FOOT INTO THIS CLINIC AGAIN. DEAN COLLEAGUES AT OTHER LOCATIONS WERE SO EMBARRASSED AND OUTRAGED BY THEIR EAST CLINIC COLLEAGUES. read more

As both a patient and as an employee I would rate them at the most 1 star. I was given a "it's your age" by a doctor for what turned out to be cancer. Thankfully caught during an emergency visit at another facility. And as an employee, I found a lot of discrimination/cliché treatment of employees and the training was very poor and rules are not always followed the same from location to location. read more
