For about 180 dollars we go our outdoor automatic light fixed and they were even nice enough to include some free LED bulbs for us and the two guys that Rick had sent over were quick but most important thorough with the job. Christina was very understanding, and first thing Tuesday morning I was pleased to hear from Ryan, who, instead of just quoting me for a new condenser, told me he would be coming by that same morning to see the unit for himself instead of going by someone else's explanation. A couple of hours later, he was here, determined the problem was easily fixable, explained he was "90% certain" it could be fixed (very clear in his explanation), and that one particular part wasn't on his truck. Five hours later, Jimmy was here, and in minutes replaced the part and... eureka! We've got air conditioning again. Jimmy then checked over the system to see if there were any further issues. And to top it all off - not only are they nice people, but the price was fair (even including after-hours service) - and disclosed in advance. Two weeks ago, they came out to fix a bathroom tub leak. I was charged $1,300 to replace the cartridge, handle, and spout. The parts cost around $250, and the job should have taken less than an hour, but they stayed for about four hours because they kept getting the wrong parts. They came back last week because the tub was still leaking. This time, they said I needed to replace the shower base where the cartridge goes and quoted me $3,400. I declined and asked them to put everything back together, but the leak was actually worse afterward. What bothered me most was the lack of transparency. I asked for a breakdown of the charges and was essentially told, "That's just what we charge." After almost spending nearly $4,700, I feel I could have had the entire tub area remodeled by another company. I also recently tried to cancel my membership and learned that it's a one-year contract and that canceling early may require paying back the discounts. That was not my understanding when I signed up. I'm extremely disappointed with the pricing, communication, and lack of transparency. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and looking for a company with fair pricing and clear, honest billing. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Service Stars based on my experience.
