let me provide some context before you read this review. First, I am an absolute beginner to…read morefrench, so, if you have multiple years of french instruction or lived in France for a period of time you should be OK. The school uses a European system for teaching the language that is just not designed for English speakers. It is virtually impossible to learn the language with this system unless you have years of french training. From the beginning, It is a french immersion so you spend a lot of time on google translate trying to figure out the basic instructions for any homework. The lessons don't really build on each other and seem impractical and of course, are all in french. I'm not sure a beginner needs to learn about purchasing used clothes. I would prefer if you teach me how to order a cup of coffee which just didn't exist. And they are not easy so the assignments become discouraging. Some of the instructors are good, and some are downright dreadful - completely disorganized. The last instructor for me was about as bad as it gets and most importantly, arrogant. What stands out as a huge weakness is the class placement. I was in a 104 level and we had an individual with 7 years french training. And when the instructor would have in-class activities (which I hated and saw it as a way a lazy instructor could chew up time doing nothing but checking their phone) the experienced french students purposely avoided you and were quite frankly rude. In my class, every individual had at least several years of high school french. Some had college level french and were in beginners classes. Not a good situation. One individual sitting next to me went through 5 classes (101 - 105) then repeated the sequence again and dropped at the 104 level out of a realization that they would never be able to hold a french conversation. If you look at the class offerings, you will notice that only one section is provided at the upper levels. By that point, all but the native speakers have quit. Again, if you have french training, you will be OK. If you don't, know when it is time to quit.

I did the 9 morning classes option. 3 days a week for 3 weeks -Tue , Wed , Thur from 8-4:30. The day runs very good with a few 15 min breaks and a 30 min lunch break. Very clean restroom available the entire time. The teachers for our class were Vendela Bonner she a power source of information and the OG Jack Simpson! He is a well of knowledge! I went into this class very nervous and discouraged, and left feeling encouraged and empowered to take on the test! The class never felt rushed! I don't attend the extra events offered but my friends that do enjoy them. It is wonderful to spend time with other students in the classes who are interested in all things Italian. Most are life long learners, not afraid to put themselves in the precarious situation of learning a new language as adults. My only caveat is, if you really want to learn Italian well, you will need to do self study in addition to the classes, at least if you are taking one 1 1/2 hour of Italian a week.

Not only do they teach Scratch, they also offer JavaScript and Python. My friend said that the instructors Katina and Noah were very knowledgeable. They made the class really fun and interactive. I recently completed Level II Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) training after completing Level I…read moretraining last November. The training/workshops are an excellent introduction to CBT. The training helped me realize that CBT is an effective psychotherapy that has more depth and nuances than a 'manual-based' psychotherapy, as CBT is often referred to. When I read Dr. Aaron Beck's book, Cognitive Therapy of Depression I said that the book should be required reading for all graduate counseling programs. After completing the trainings I am sorry I did not begin training in CBT while in graduate school or immediately after graduating (as one of my professors urged me to do). The training is thorough and informative. The training has helped me help my patients while also helping me improve my self as a psychotherapist. As I mentioned, the curriculum is excellent. But I could not write a review without mentioning how knowledgeable, professional and passionate the instructors are. The workshops are a great introduction to CBT. I realized to become proficient as a CBT therapist I would need additional training/supervision. I look forward to beginning supervision in the Beck Institute supervision program this spring and attending the workshop on CBT and PTSD this Fall. I am glad that I made the investment in time and money to attend the CBT workshops at the Beck Institute. I am sure it will pay dividends for my patients and my practice in the future.
