Location is amazing only about one mile from downtown. We did a few day trips still felt the location was good. Unfortunately, the day we arrived the water main broke Anna had no water for a day and a half. However, the office refunded one night stay without us even asking. I will say the RV's were only feet apart from each other so was a little noisy in the morning. The office store was nice. It had a coffee machine and many souvenirs. The people running the faculty were amazing. My husband needed emergency dental work and they gave us a few hours extra to check out. read more

Beautiful spot! Has potential if shower facilities were maintained. Clogged sink, no ventilation in a single use restroom with alot of campers, tough! Loved the goats and donkey for kids. Nice hosts! read more

The bad: The toilet paper in the two bathrooms that one half of the park shares is horrid and makes your butt chafe. The good: The two showers that one half of the entire park shares are pretty nice and big with a toilet and sink in it. A private area to shower. The bad: The water pressure. The good: The one-room cabin is nice. The bad: No refrigerator in the cabin. The very worst thing is that the night we got there, the front desk did not know that the trolley was regularly running, with several people on it. Instead, they said we would have to text or call the driver. (He is busy driving.........!) So needless to say, we drove and as we were driving down the KOA driveway,leaving to go to Deadwood, we had to move out of the way for the &;&;)@$ trolley that was driving up. Would have been nice if the front desk would have made it their business to find out trolley info. One more thing: The two donkeys running loose made all the dogs go nuts. read more

We have stayed at other KOAs and have had wonderful experiences. Deadwood is by far the worst. We had concerns within the 1st 1/2 hour after arrival and brought them to the owners in which our concerns were dismissed immediately. The sites are extremely small as we were put right next to a 5 wheel and their slide overlapped our "little" patio and it's always nice to sit out on our patio and look at the black tank tube on the camper next to you, makes for great eating experiences. No grill in which we called a few days prior to see if grills were provided and was informed that they were so we left ours at home, but was graciously informed by the owner that "there's a Walmart down the street" and we were misinformed by a new staff member. No campfires allowed. We prepaid for 6 days in December and decided that this wasn't a good fit upon arrival. Informed the owners that we were leaving within the 1st hour of arrival and they refused to honor the KOA Guarantee. My advise, take the extra 1/2 hour and drive west to Spearfish as they were absolutely wonderful and beautiful campsites! read more

We survived the snow... Never did we receive any help from "hosts" No snow removal attempts... no answering phones. No concern for anyone's general well fare. Corporate indicated it wasn't heir issue!???? I personally fell and hurt my left shoulder. What started out as a great experience ended horrible. Hard to imagine what it would have been if other campers had not helped each !!! read more

Great KOA! I'd originally reserved a tent site but after dealing with rain I upgraded to a Kabin. I stayed in K4 and had a nice cozy night. The TV was small and not a lot of channels came in but when you're camping who cares about TV?!? The bathrooms/showers were some of the nicest I've ever seen. Newly remodeled. The shower floor was kind of uncomfortable to stand on but no complaints otherwise. WiFi was great everyday! The owner Arnie was very accommodating! read more

For a KOA, this is a pretty good one. Nothing fancy and the sites are very close together but it still nestled in nature. The bathrooms and shower facilities are brand-new and cleaned daily as well as heated. Owners are very nice and very accommodating. If you're looking for cabins these are built new and are well-maintained. Do you have free Wi-Fi and it works well. Great RV/camp spot to come to!!! read more

This KOA has new staff and they are lovely . We stayed only 11 days after new owners have been here and I see great things for this place in the future. The cabins are authentic old school cabins but still beautiful and cozy . We got the real cabin experience. The hot tub was lovely and pool stayed warm at night. I definitely recommend checking this place out. With a little TLC from new owners , I can't wait to come back and stay next summer. If you're looking for a place to stay for sturgis 81st festival I would try to get in here ASAP !! It's perfect location allows you to feel like you're Camping , but a trolly also takes you to town . I'm sure glad we decided to stay here , not to mention save a little money on our trip . Best priced place we have been since arriving in SD . I planned to stay in Deadwood for a long weekend, and ended up staying for a week. This KOA is situated in the Black Hills, about 1 mile from downtown Deadwood, and centrally located about an hour's drive to Mt. Rushmore, The Black Hills National Forest, and Custer State Park. While the campsites are extremely close together, there are less than 50 of them, and the camp is surrounded by the hills and spectacular views. The park has tent and RV (back in and pull through) sites, and some cabins. The bathrooms and showers are immaculate. I parked in an RV site, which had cable, Wi-Fi, water, sewer and 30-amp electrical hook-up. The camp store has gift shop items, some classic pinball machines, a community puzzle, as well as food and an assortment of camping supplies. The camp hosts are very friendly, and easy to find. The camp has an outdoor heated pool and hot tub; coin laundry facilities, and is pet friendly with a special fenced area 'Kamp K9' for off-leash play. Hands down, my favorite amenity was the free shuttle from the camp to downtown Deadwood. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay in Deadwood, and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the town of Deadwood, the history, great food, and casinos. read more

TERRIBLE!! not worth the money or stay. I highly recommend finding some place else. The communication between the owners and Pete is terrible. When I called to talk about our stay she was extremely rude and hung up on me. Take your business else where as we are and many people we know are to. There is a reason the campground has many available spots, the owners are frauds. Don't let the old people per sauna fool you. read more

For the most part we enjoyed our stay. The cabin and restrooms were clean. The views were wonderful. The staff was helpful. However the wifi was terrible. Yes, I know you don't go out to places like this to get on wifi, but if you advertise it, you make sure it works well enough to get a signal. The TV in the cabin was 14" and had a was not viewable unless you stood or sat in just the right spot. The pool was cloudy and needed a good cleaning. The hot tub was out of order and had been for what looked like weeks. The showers water pressure was not good. Overall not bad, but t would have been much better with some improvements. read more

Neat location! Really close to historic Deadwood. The office has a nice gift shop with two SUPER cute dogs as greeters! I love it when businesses have their pups with them. My site was right next to the office since it was a tent site, so I didn't get to see much of the grounds. Definitely cannot beat the view I had of the hills!! read more

We stayed at the Deadwood KOA on our way back home from Minnesota, and were sad that we were only able to stay for a short night. The KOA is very nice. The drive to the campground is through the beautiful South Dakota landscape. We arrived quite close to closing time, and were greeted with a smile. The hosts are extremely friendly. We stayed at a tent site, and it was situated among beautiful trees and had a small creek flowing through which our child had a blast observing while we set up the tent. The bathrooms were clean and convenient, and they were in the middle of putting new mulch down at the playground. We will definitely be back to stay here on a future trip. There is also a nature trail that we didn't have time to explore, and a nice pet area that would be great for your furry companion. Wonderful campground!!!!! Be prepared though...wood fires are not allowed, so you will want to bring a campstove or a bag of charcoal! read more

Stayed here for Kool Deadwood Nites.... Made reservations, arrived in a festive mood, I'm driving motor home, Lindi has the T-Bird. Checking in with owner "Arnie"... He exclaims, "you have a car"!... Yes, I replied. "You can't have a car. . . You didn't tell us you had a CAR"! I said, "You didn't ask?"... He said, "You can't have your car here"... So, I said.... Humm, what should I do.... Park on the Highway, or find another campground? Finally, after making me, his customer, feel like a criminal, he reluctantly mentioned I could park in front of the office under the basket ball net... I thanked him and parked. Later that eve, when arriving home, someone else was parked in our spot, (another "car").... So, we drove up to our site and parked next to some other "cars".... No problem, we thought. Next morning, you guessed it... Arnie was up in his golf cart, biting me in the butt about where we were parked. I asked him if we were really doing any harm? He explained, "not really, I just don't like to use this area as a parking lot. So, finally, checking out... I mentioned to him that his brochure noted under "Golden Rules" that all tenants are allowed one vehicle along with their RV, camper or tent, and if you have additional vehicles, management would "kindly accommodate you"......he only wanted to defend and deny.... To sum up, places like these are why campers like to sleep in Walmart parking lots! Find another campground in the Hills that appreciates their customers. And certainly don't drive "a car" to the Deadwood KOA! Lol read more

Excellent facility! It's alittle out dated, but the bathrooms are some of the best & cleanest campground bathrooms i've been in. The pool & laundry mat are neat & clean. The view is also spectacular. read more

We switched from a tent site to a cabin because of rain and they were both very nice. Forest setting. Quiet. Very clean individual shower/bathroom combinations. We would highly recommend this KOA. read more

Great campground! We stayed here with our 30' travel trailer and were very happy with the location in relation to all of the activities in Deadwood and the Black Hills. The campground itself is carved into a hillside so we were a little nervous when we pulled up but the spaces were very large and we had no problem getting settled. The staff were all very friendly (with cute dogs!) and were accommodating when we needed to extend our stay. The bathrooms were average, could use a good cleaning but conveniently located. Camp store is well stocked with essentials and the laundry was clean and easy to access. Will definitely be staying here next time we're in deadwood! read more

I am sure its nice, but the policies from KOA web do NOT apply here, cancelled rv spot just 12 hours after booking, over 60 days advance notice to cancel and they still charged me, so IF your plans MIGHT change, forget about it, you will PAY FEE.....and also, campground gets to decide exactly how YOU will communicate, phone only is the policy.... SO just dont change your plans, be 100% rigid, and you will be fine....otherwise you will pay for their inconvenience of having to deal with YOU....and your change of plans...regardless of how far in advance you notify.. read more

Oh my goodness. So grateful for this space. The service is amazing. The restrooms are clean and the shuttle to Deadwood is such a plus!!! The fact that the service is so helpful it just puts this place beyond just a "campground". It feels like home away from home. The owners were very rude and aggressive. Rules that weren't on their list of rules were being implemented and then we were in the wrong. Even though, there wasn't any information regarding these "other rules" Bathrooms need updating. Not a good place for family or large groups. The spaces are extremely small for RV's. ONLY a good place if you plan to stay one night and not in a large RV. We felt like we were on eggshells because you never knew when they owner would come at you at 7am with another issue. Excellent staff. Had motorcycle problems and the owner helped us in a last minute change in reservations. The complex is older but very clean and maintained and a fun camping feeling hillside forest setting. We stayed in the rustic cabin which was exceptionally clean with a porch power heat and even cable tv. Good free wifi. There is a city trolley that will take you in and back for a buck each way. Very clean restrooms and showers. Nice and quiet Koa which is very important to us ass you can sleep in peace after dark. Will book again and a great price for Deadwood. read more
