We've been traveling from Calif for about six weeks…read moreand wanted a place that was central enough to visit many places (from Badlands to Devils tower) but wasn't right in the city or up in the mountains adding additional travel time to each day of sightseeing. Three Flags was perfect! We planned originally to stay only five days but Vicky (owner) told us about the once a year Buffalo roundup in Custer, the 1880 steam train, and how neat Deadwood is so we extended our stay to almost 2 weeks. We had an absolutely wonderful time! We'd give the campground a 5 but the customer service a 10! Our site was full hookups and pull thru. It was nicely level and wide for our slide outs on both sides! Unlike other campsites that may be level but your literally on top of your neighbor - not so here! Bathrooms were very clean and well kept. We were also able to do our four loads of laundry at once- wow without having to go to a laundromat! Maybe close to I-90 but we were gone everyday and traffic virtually stopped from 10pm until 7am so that was not a problem for us. And as the website says train comes by twice but only during the day, so again no problem. Do look at the website, she gives approx 20 different things to see and do in the We only scratched the surface of things to do so definitely want to come back! Highly recommend this campground - owner is very friendly, available and very helpful! After talking with other campers at the park we totally understand why they come back year after year. We hope to come back ourselves!!!

The beds were comfortable, the kitchen, fridge and stove allowed us to prepare meals (we didn't use the grill outside but would have if we weren't touring so much). We appreciated the TV with cable, the "living room area" and the covered porch area where my wife sat out and had her coffee each morning. This spot was perfect for day trips to Custer State Park, The Mammoth Site, Mount Rushmore, Deadwood and so many others. The only minor issue we experienced was that we came during an unprecedented heat wave, and there's one air conditioner for the whole unit. They do provide fans, but this meant we couldn't close doors at night without rooms getting warm. All pretty minor and not something that would matter during normal seasonal temps. We'd definitely recommend this place. It is very affordable and provides plenty of room for your family.

The people who owned or worked there, were very nice and shared their local knowledge of the area with us. We also enjoyed the view of the local horse farm and the beautiful rolling hills. I'm sure this place is hopping in the summer, especially for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally!
