When you walk inside it is so much more magnificent than expected! The people are friendly and helpful in directing you to the right place. There is a full bar on the second floor that allows you to bring drinks into the theatre. It seems as though they usually have two shows rolling at once -- one to the right, one to the left. Lots of people and so much fun! The play was awesome and I'd love to go check out others.

Being a percussionist, I was totally amped when a band mate suggested we come here for "Things that go Ding!"; a humorous performance of percussion-based vaudeville, musicals, and classical music genres. You haven't heard anything until you have heard the Aria from Carmen played on a two-octave set of taxi horns. For a percussion based musical performance, the sound in the Cabot Theater was just perfect. No matter the volume level, it was always perfectly clear and balanced. This theater seats about 350 seats with two level of boxes. It's a beautiful homage to an 18th century European opera. I was very happy with how roomy the seats were. I'm 6'4" and had plenty of legroom. Upstairs has a very nice bar area and the "black box" theater for smaller productions. I've been in there for two "Theatrical readings of Yelp Reviews" events in years past and have always thoroughly enjoyed being here. The staff is very professional, very talented, and very friendly. Prices are very reasonable and there are tons of great restaurants within walking distance. Class up your life and check out the latest events here!!

Some of this is likely due to my personal tastes, and others come across as a bit tired. Always look forward to a night out at the Rep's Stackner Cabaret.

The tables are off to the side of the large hall, at the top of the escalators, and are close to other diners. The good points are that the pricing is appropriate, the menu varied; you can choose the Prix Fixe meal for a set price. But reservations are required so plan ahead. We had various dishes: Chicken Piccata, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Cobb Salad, Crispy Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich, Side Caesar Salad with Chicken, and a Chicken Veg Soup with Orzo. Each of us enjoyed our meals fully and the servings were not too big but definitely filled us up. There are many restaurants in the theater district, but for convenience this one is hard to beat.

The coffee is acidity and they offer no various types of brews. Everyone's a raging communist that works there, and they have rude attitudes across the board. The only reason I'm giving an extra star is because the venue inside is actually pretty cool. Cool atmosphere inside. But there's a bunch of homeless people that sit out front which the staff encourage by letting them beg out front and unknowing young college students give them money so they keep come back. Just go to Starbucks or Stone creek down the street. Tired of of the poorly ran commie coffee joints.

I had already greeted two of the four musicians who had come out and were signing autographs. I explained that I was cold; the temperature has fallen from 68 to 54 since I had left the house earlier in the day. My jacket was not up to the task. A different staff person appeared and insisted I leave, despite reiterating to him that I was cold. Thankfully the band was great and the patrons were friendlier than Colectivo. That saved them from my taking photos of the code violations that abound.

We were there on a Saturday night to see the premiere of Come From Away. The theater and all the amenities are terrific. The entire space feels much more open and free flowing. The actual theater now has more seating, and the seats have armrests, which for me is a big plus. The stage is also larger, with more vertical space, which really enhances the overall experience. We arrived just in time for the show, and since there was no intermission, there was not much opportunity to explore the public spaces while they were fully in use. Looking forward to spending more time taking it all in at the next show, coming up in January.

I like that you don't feel like you are on top of each other. Last night's experience was a bit unique in that the weather delayed our performance start time. Staff were professional and kept everyone in the theater for safety. Once the tornado warning was lifted, we were able to congregate by the bar area until they were ready to start. I purchased a rishi tea for $4.50 while we waited. I could not get the hot water out of the carafe, staff assisted and realized the internal pump was isn't the carafe. Plenty of bathrooms for during intermission. While it can take a while to get out if the attached parking garage after the show, it is a good option for parking. I purchased parking ahead of time for $12 and just scanned a QR code in/out. Easy. My only complaint is that I wish the Milwaukee rep would have posted the weather delay online as I kept checking their social media pages to see if the show was still going to happen.

Acoustics are good and the lighting excellent. As for Circle, the casting was ludicrous, especially the younger women who didn't fit their roles at all. Their performances were less than high school level. They played into over-acting, exaggerating every facial expression and movement. It was embarrassing. This play's staging is all about mirror placement. The audience should be able to see the reactive expressions of the actors from different angles. This director placed one mirror at the back of the stage, barely reflecting the audience. What the heck was that? It served no purpose. I understand the Next Act Theater has a low budget, but hire actors who look the part of the characters they play. There are hundreds of wonderful theatrical artists in the Milwaukee area who would give anything for one of these parts. There is no excuse. All that being said, the Next Act Theater is still a fantastic venue to see a production, most are much better than this version of Circle Mirror Transformation, an Obie award winning play.

Having seen this show in Chicago with Donny Osmond and Janet Metz, I was not sure if this production would be disappointing in my mind. However, Laura Paruzynski as the Narrator and Mason Hanizeski as Joseph have so much to be proud of. The Narrator must be clear and concise in their singing, and Laura was perfect! What a powerhouse voice! Mason stepped into his role with confidence and gave a performance as Joseph that rivaled Donny Osmond in every way. But I must also applaud ALL the performers for their presentations, each one was really fun to watch and listen to. The young performers were mesmerizing, and their acting was so endearing. I could not decide on any one actor to watch as they were all incredibly well cast. The smaller stage felt large with the scenery filling every corner and the use of all areas on the stage. This is a top-notch show. The theater itself is a beautiful old building, and there is not a bad seat in the house. How wonderful to have a clear view from every seat, and the side seats in what can best be described as boxes seemed as wonderful as the next. The decor shows the history of this location, and it is worth the time to arrive early and look around fully. The bar is a bit expensive, but if it helps support this quality of theater, I'm good with that. Although this building is obviously older, the accessibility is good. There are steps into the main door, but the entryway just to the north has a ramp, which makes it a very simple entry. There is an elevator for access to all levels. The ladies' room on the main floor has a handicapped stall, and while it is on the smaller size, it is usable with a wheelchair if needed. The bar is on the second floor, but again, there is an elevator. Parking is either on the street, but I recommend using the parking garage around the corner, at 212 N. Milwaukee St. We paid $9 for the duration of the show, and it was covered in this winter weather. Easy access to I-94 is a plus. Being in The Third Ward also assures you can find a meal before or after a performance. Thank you to the production and theater for also collecting donations for Feed America.
