I understand they are trying to make the downtown area more walkable, but the infrastructure isn't there to support such a crazy idea. There should be automated trams (street cars!) that allow people to get from the west to the east side, maybe all the way to the lakefront. Maybe extend that to go north and south too. But I digress.... Second, getting inside. It's always unnecessarily stressful and never enough people scanning tickets (or paying attention). Now let me gripe about the escalator situation. I want to believe there are 2 sets but I have only ever seen the one at the main entrance. Stairs are also difficult to find, and most of the doors have a warning that if you exit you cannot re-enter or alarm will sound. If you are here for a concert they usually only have 2 merch stands, both by the main escalator which generally impedes the flow of traffic. Drinks - lots of places to purchase and wildly over-priced. Food - are there a lot of food options? Yes. Are they all open? No. I feel like Fiserv Forum and the Deer District is an example of how newer isn't always better and that newer also does not equate to user friendly.

I gone with some family from out of state who are touring all the stadiums and they were saying how each stadium is unique--some, it's the surrounding area that makes them remarkable. For American Family field, the stadium itself is the draw. The retractable roof is a marvel! I've also had folks from out of town mention surprise at how much tailgating (whether the Brewers are winning or losing, rain or shine) goes on. Which of course, is the Milwaukee way. We are lucky enough to have some of the most supportive fans in baseball. They show up with enthusiasm and support regardless of the record. This year, we're champs and are heading to the playoffs. The buzz of excitement in the stadium is electric. But, I love knowing even if we aren't winning--the excitement and love of baseball shines even in the tough years. That's the Milwaukee magic. Get to it!

I still can't get used to it not being Miller Park but if I'm forced to use it's government name,…read moreAmerican Family Field, I will. I like to go a few times a year for Brewers games, and I always have a great time. The stadium is massive, but I honestly don't think there's a truly bad seat in the place. You can still get a good view of the game from just about anywhere. Plus the roof is retractable! It's a nice way to get the outdoor ballpark feel without having to worry quite so much about the forecast. The staff has always been knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful whenever I've needed anything. And if you're looking to bring home some Brewers gear, there are plenty of merch options to choose from. Just be prepared to pay a premium for that baseball souvenir. One of my favorite food-and-drink stops is the 3rd Street Market Hall Annex. It's a fun little version of the downtown market hall, with a bunch of local food options and a good selection of local brews on tap. I tried Anytime Arepa on my last visit. I was excited to give it a shot, but I have to admit the arepa didn't quite live up to the ones I've had at the downtown location. Maybe I just caught it on an off day, but it was a little disappointing. The chicken tenders at the nearby Bebe Zito Chix'n stand looked really good, though, so I may have to give those a try next time. The Brewers also do a great job keeping the crowd engaged throughout the game. There are plenty of traditions and little moments that get everyone cheering, but my favorite has to be the Famous Racing Sausages. I'm always rooting for Chorizo! GO CHORIZO!!! And I appreciate that the ballpark lets you bring in personal-size food items. The carry-in policy is pretty generous compared with what you might expect at a stadium, and one-gallon clear resealable bags are allowed. Some people have even brought in a whole bag of spaghetti, no kidding! To each their own! If you want to bring your own snacks, it's worth checking the current rules before heading out. All in all, American Family Field is a fun place to catch a game. Let's Go Brewers!

Now at UW-M Panther Arena (the old Arena, just west of BMO Harris Bradley Center), the games are high-scoring, and they try to make the games fun, it's just that with less than 1,000 people at a game- it's kind of not as thrilling as going to see a Bucks game, or even an Admirals game. My son and I went on 80's night, and the Wave crew did a great job spinning all manner of 80's music, from early breakdance hip-hop, to hair metal, to Top 40. There's lots of in between time for on-field audience activities, check their website to enter if you're going to a match! Our fave players were Bennett and Pablo (it's just 'Pablo', like Sting, Prince, Beckham...). I was happy to see a local restaurant 'the Simmer' offering healthy food for the night, and people responded by lining up for kale and black bean salads, and the like. Milwaukee sports stadiums need more of this- rent out your space to local restaurants for unique options. We really did enjoy the game, but my expectations are just lowered with more of a small market experience.

I've been here for Milwaukee Special Olympics events (soccer, flag football) and it's comfortable. Parking around the area isn't hard though it doesn't have a dedicated parking lot. I was sad to see the original historic stadium demolished a couple years back, it was just shy of a century old and they don't make them like that anymore. However, rebuilding (almost $10 million) was cheaper than renovation as the original had fallen into a sad state of disrepair. This is the home football and soccer fields for three MPS high schools, Bradley Tech, South Division and Bayview. The bleachers capacity is listed at 2,500 but I'm a bit dubious.
