Broken arm

My 8 year old daughter came in with a broken arm at 3. Crying and in pain. She's been there 5 hours now. Currently STILL THERE after taking X-rays to hear her results. Like get a Dr and look at the X-rays it takes a few seconds to read an X-ray. They haven't even given her anything for pain. They won't let her eat or drink.

Awesome emergency care ‍

The nurse Erin was personable and well skilled. The doctor "C" was efficient and did all that was needed at the time. Thank you!

Dr. Underwood was very good with my husband. Catherine the nurse was also very sweet. The food in the cafeteria was good, and the lady in the gift shop was super friendly and helpful.

This was…read moregenuinely one of the most frightening and traumatic healthcare experiences I have ever had, and I am sharing it because I would never want another patient or family to experience what I did. I was brought to this emergency department by ambulance because I was extremely sick and weak. I arrived on a gurney and was brought through the ER, only to then be taken back out to the front waiting area. I was told to get off the gurney and stand in line because there was no room, despite the fact that I was struggling to even stand. Being that sick, arriving by ambulance, and then being expected to stand in line was frightening and made me feel incredibly vulnerable. The entire department appeared severely overwhelmed. While I was there, I witnessed a visibly ill patient lying on the floor near the restroom doors vomiting what appeared to be blood because the restrooms were occupied. I do not know her circumstances or how long she had been there, and I do not want to make assumptions about her medical care. However, witnessing someone in that condition in a public area raised serious concerns for me about patient safety, dignity, and hygiene. I also personally witnessed multiple patients who were in pain become frustrated enough with the wait that they signed releases and left the emergency department to seek care at a nearby urgent care instead. I think it is important to mention that I worked in healthcare for nearly 15 years. I understand that emergency departments become overcrowded, resources can be stretched thin, and patients must be triaged according to medical urgency. I also understand that arriving by ambulance does not automatically mean someone should receive treatment before a more critically ill patient. That is not my complaint. Even with my healthcare background and understanding of how busy emergency departments can become, I have never personally witnessed operations like what I experienced that day. That is what made this so alarming. What concerns me most is the possibility of a patient with a truly time-sensitive medical emergency being overlooked or not addressed appropriately when the department is operating under conditions like these. My concern goes far beyond my own wait or discomfort. I left genuinely fearful about whether seriously ill patients were being adequately assessed, monitored, and cared for. I am not sharing this to be vindictive or to attack individual healthcare workers. I am sharing it because the experience was genuinely frightening, and I believe what I witnessed deserves to be taken seriously. I sincerely hope the hospital reviews these conditions and addresses whatever staffing, capacity, communication, or operational issues contributed to them. No patient seeking emergency medical care should leave feeling the way I did, and I would never want another person or family to go through this experience.

From front desk staff to those working on getting patients back to and during surgery have been great. They've all been friendly and helpful. The lobby is as comfortable as you can expect with a patient status board to keep you up to date. If you forget you phone charger, they have one with multiple types of cord ends. Parking is also free and generally plentiful. This is so much nicer than Sacred Heart. The facility also seems be kept clean in the lobby, restrooms, and patient rooms. Overall very good experiences.

A follow-up to my review:…read more **please take note of my 'previous' review. It reflects many of this hospital's "ER's"performance reviews. *I submitted two complaints*. The first one was several letters to hospital upper-staff. I wanted them to know what is going on in their ER. I wanted justice. I wanted something to be done. I was told the staff acted in accordance to protocol. The letter written back to me ignored the fact that I was ignored for 4 to five hours while suffering with extreme abdominal pain, vomiting, and nausea. They also disregarded my complaint about the Drip-Line issue. (Sort of bushed it under the rug). There was no mention or apology about staff behavior. **My second complaint was to a government agency that deals with review on matters with hospitals around MEDICARE. I filed this complaint with the government agency because I could not figure out why I was treated this way. Someone had mentioned this agency to me. My question was: was I treated this way because of my MEDICARE status? Again: "staff behaved in a matter consistent with protocol". Yes, all tests were done. It did not mention anything about the rudeness of the staff. And the treatment as a human being that I had gotten. Again: the drip line was swept under the rug. And again: there was no mention of my 4 to 5 hour wait as I suffered in pain, vomiting and nausea. Rudeness=especially intake staff and nurse. I spoke on the phone with a person from the government agency. She had asked me, what do you want to get out of this? She said, 'they acted accordingly'. 'The timeline of events measure out'. Then I told her, I just want an apology. I would like to sue, but according to you, I don't have a case. She said, they aren't obligated to apologize, so don't expect it. She could clearly see that I was upset over this. And basically said, without saying it, "just drop it".

The ER receptionist immediately checked me in and within ten minutes I was in a room surrounding by an attentive staff of nurses, technicians, and a physician's assistant by the name of Ryan Wilson, whose demeanor instantly calmed me (I was clearly having a panic attack!). I could not have been treated any better. The wound was stitched up (fortunately was not as bad as the Urgent Care doctor implied it was) and I was on my way within an hour. Everything was done with great efficiency and I was treated with respect and outstanding kindness. Really appreciated the service that we received and appreciated that there was not a long wait time for triage or to be seen by a provider.
