The…read morerate is £53 pn unless you book in advance via internet - then it's £35.00 pn if they have space. I was lucky. The rooms are warm looking, spacious and clean. Well equipped with tea/coffee facility, large flat sreen TV with freeview channels and a sofa. You take the included breakfast at the Toby carvery next door and they offer a "help yourself to veg" carvery (pork, turkey, beef) for £5.25 before 7.00pm (£7.50 after 7.00pm). The carvery was best value and I enjoyed it. Bank's cask ale at £1.99pp plus lagers from £2.45 to £2.85pp. I stayed for two nights and will definitely use an Innkeepers lodge again.

The restaurant deco is a mix of funky and traditional country design that gives off a romantic and at ease feel about it. On walking in I was given a warm welcome and instantly offered drinks and despite there being a traditional bar, I never had to step a foot near it as the waiting service was second to none. The Lounge/bar offers the ideal environment for pre-dinner drinks and houses a relaxing log fire where we were served drinks and ordered our food before being taken to our table which is a nice touch. The menu is short yet varied and boasts 100% all local produce and locally reared meats. Freshly baked bread with dipping oils were offered complimentary and on the table when we sat down. The food was presented in an artistic fine-dine style and the portion sizes are good and filling. The price is defiantly appropriate to the service and excellent food and I will definitely be going back! I would also recommend pre-booking.
Fantastic place for so many reasons…read more We had our wedding meal here - took 90 people and had the whole place to ourselves. The staff were so excellent in helping us prepare for our time there, helping us come up with a menu specific for the occasion and putting in so much work to get the place looking beautiful! The food was great and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. The restaurant area has a more sleek feel to it whereas around the bar there are open log fires and on one side, the bar is uniquely stocked/held up with an array of books - wonderfully unique! We have eaten there on other occasions and the service always feels more personalised than a more "corporate" place - must be a very friendly staff team all round! They are also involved in local initiative such as making record-breaking size pork pies... Definitely eye-catching! Friends of ours had heard that this place, 4-5 years back didn't have a good reputation... From our experiences the change in ownership/management has definitely pulled off a masterstroke!

However, overall hotel room comfort did not meet expectations. When we checked in, our room was very hot due to the sun coming in the windows. The AC didn't work properly and the front desk was very slow in finding someone to solve the problem. Because we faced the street, it was too noisy to have the windows open at night to get fresh air. Perhaps I would have felt differently if given a room in the back with a view of the gardens. This was our least favorite hotel out of the six we stayed in during a 7-day walking tour.

The staffs were courteous and kindly checked for availability for us. We then were greeted and seated soon after. The service at Fig was great. The tea selections are great. The High Tea set are delicious and quite a lot! I actually enjoyed the scones quite a lot even though I don't like it that much in the States. Quality, Service, and Experience definitely worth more than 22£ per person.

The service was excellent, and the ambiance--both stylish and inviting--felt like a hidden gem. We had the gnocchi, Sunday roast, drinks, and panna cotta--everything was delicious. The panna cotta was a bit overwhelming on the lemon flavor for me, but I think that is how its intended to be. The boutique hotel setting adds to the charm, with a spacious front and back patio tucked away from the crowds.

We can't recall what Gayle ordered, while my choice was some sort of tandoori chicken dish. My pint of local beer and her class of chardonnay were also at the table. Everything tasted good, even more so with a relaxing atmosphere and interesting table neighbors. Service was pleasant, but oddly fast on the food coming out, while slow for the drinks. Rest rooms were available inside the hotel for customers, which is kind of a big thing when you're within a very crowded downtown.

The location could not be better, you walk out the door and you are facing the shopping high street. The parking is great, you can park your car in the secure car park and leave it there for your stay, the car park is shared by the bus station and shopping centre I believe. The room was good, can't fault it. I didn't have much of a view but it doesn't really matter. They offer smoking rooms which is a rarity these days, I had a smoking room myself and they are situated a long, long way down the corridors from non-smoking rooms. So if you want a smoking room, prepare yourself for a long walk. The staff were very polite on the desk and in the bar area. The receptionist had good knowledge of the local area and was able to help us get around. The breakfast was excellent, probably one of the best hotel buffet-style breakfasts I have ever had.
