One of my favorite things to do in a new town or city is check out the local grocery store/supermarket, and this one, THIS ONE, with actual real-live vegan options, is like a dream. Granted, I don't know how to read Dutch, so most of the ingredients were a mystery to me, but I've gotten pretty familiar at spotting the Dutch words for 'milk' 'egg' and 'cheese', so I felt fairly confident. I also have a Rotterdam-born friend with me for last-ditch translation if needed. The variety of foods was overwhelming, in the best possible way! I found an excellent vegan mayonnaise (the mayo was for a potato salad, which turned out excellent and impressed all the picnic-going omnivores), bought a round of Cheesley Mozzarella, and picked up a tiny package of vegan bratwurst, just for fun. I was sorely tempted by the rest of the refrigerated section and naturally by the chocolate aisle--so many amazing looking vegan chocolate bars, including a white chocolate. Whaaaaat?! I would shop here quite frequently if I lived here. A great selection of organic food with a healthy vegan section. If you're traveling through, this is a great store to stock up on a few special vegan treats, and there's vegan/vegetarian cafe right next door if you're hungry.

They sell a wide selection of fresh fish (which they'll clean for you if you buy it whole), live lobster and King crab and at the counter on the right they sell all kinds of delicatessens like lobster salad, shrimp cocktail, spreads, ready to eat fish and gravad lax. There's even a small "restaurant" section where you can stand at tall tables and enjoy prosecco, oysters, tuna burgers, fish soup...etc. All home made of course!

Drinks probably around 10-15min to arrive even if not very busy, food probably 40-50 min except the bread basket with 2 dips (4 Euro) which comes faster. Menu rotates daily, but the dishes are not varied - all fish come with same salsa/lemon wedge, grilled and salted. Given the fact they function with a griddle and oven it's ok, but really wish there was at least few different sauces (eg buttered herb, lemon, garlic, spiced, etc.) so that people sharing at a table can have more than one taste amongst different dishes. Even though I can appreciate fresh seafood, the menu almost consists of a single dish served with different fish, meaning there is no appeal for me to come again to try other things. I feel like they could really benefit from a fryer for some salt/pepper squid, fish and chips for the relaxed pace and location for the restaurant, and to add variety to the griddle. Cocktails are not very strong, but otherwise fine to drink, nothing very special (Mojito, Long Island Tea, Gin & Tonic, etc. @ 9 Euro each) Dessert is also just 'okay', really nothing special or desirable to come again.
