However, the basement was not finished, but had rough-in plumbing installed. We were looking for someone to finish the basement (4 rooms total), including adding an additional bedroom with closet and full bathroom. This included all electrical, plumbing, framing, drywall, door installation, flooring, trim, and painting. Mike was quick to respond to my original inquiry, come check out the space, and provide a quote. He was timely, friendly, and easy to collaborate with. We changed our mind a few times on final design - we appreciate how patient he was with us while we narrowed in on the final plan. The final quote was very detailed and he provided helpful information on the areas for potential cost increase (given that the home is old and there could have been unexpected things identified after work begun). This helped us set our expectations for the project. During the project, he kept us up to date on progress or concerns and kept the area very clean (ensuring very little debris made its way outside the basement into our home). He managed all of the subcontractors (electric, plumbing, carpet, etc) so we didn't need to worry about a thing. Made it super easy by having one point of contact! His work speaks for itself. There were a lot of difficult aspects of the basement to figure out (i.e. uneven walls and ceilings, tricky vents or pipes along the ceiling, water/electrical shutoffs needing to be accessible, etc), but he managed to turn the space into exactly what we were looking for. The attention to detail makes all the difference! In the end, the project took about two months (including carpet installation) and final cost was in line with the estimate. I did plan to use them in the future. Called in November 2023 about an estimate to repair a roof leak. They sent Santiago out to look at the roof leak I had. He identified the leak and I called a couple times looking for the estimate and did receive it in six days. Two weeks later I signed the contract I had received from them via Tyler and sent it back via e-mail. I received a call shortly afterwards from Tyler, he was aggressive and seemed angry, almost accusing me of doing something, not sure what. He told me he couldn't honor a quote from July, I pointed out it was dated November 8, 2023. He was confused. Said they had a $1000 minimum and the quote for the work was $500., which I honestly thought was high based on the work to be done. Repairing a few shingles where there was a leak, but I needed the work done. I asked him if he was going to honor the quote they sent me? He did not answer me and said he would call me right back. He did, still aggressive, said his father had waived the $1000 and he would talk to Santiago to schedule the job. I never heard from him. Not sure why he was angry or aggressive with me, this was an internal lack of communication on their part. I can only assume one of two things, they didn't want to do it after quoting it and ignored me, or I fell through the cracks. Either way, this is not good.

I didn't particularly feel like getting up on any ladders myself, so turned to Yelp to find folks who could get it done at a reasonable price. Got a few different estimates and walked around the house, and while Robert didn't provide the cheapest estimate, it wasn't too far off and he definitely gave the impression that he would do the best job. When you're doing something as significant as painting your house, you don't want to cheap out. We didn't intend to have the whole house repainted, but it was surprisingly cheap to do so. It was roughly $3500 to just handle the trim, but $5000 to do the whole house - siding, doors, garage, etc. We decided to go for it and are glad we did. The pictures show what a nice job he did with the place. One thing that I think really sets Sparky's apart from typical contractors is their willingness to go above and beyond. Robert had a helper on his first day out who didn't understand that you shouldn't power wash window screens, and he inadvertently tore holes into three of our screens. I mentioned it to Robert and he replaced them with new screens at no charge. On his last day, he walked around the house and observed four other screens that looked a little worse for the wear (though they didn't have holes). He asked if he could replace those for us as well. I was pretty shocked - we had already paid him for the job, but he was pretty insistent on making the house look as good as possible. He certainly did that! One other thing that impressed me; while he was working on the siding of our house, I noticed our dryer wasn't venting properly. I called a vent cleaning service and they said they'd be out the next day. I asked Robert if it would be a problem for them to clean our vent while he was painting. He climbed up on a ladder, pulled the vent cover off, and cleaned out our vent himself - saving me a hundred bucks! Overall, we love the look of our house after Sparky's got finished, and our neighbors have given us tons of compliments. Robert would also work 10-12 hours days, frequently staying until it got dark outside. He clearly has a great work ethic and loves what he does. I'd recommend Sparky's to anyone who wants a quality job at a reasonable price.

A low pump, a higher pump if that first pump fails or cant keep up. And then a higher battery backup pump. I feel great knowing that my basement will stay dry no matter what.
