We had looked for a while, and actually found her on craigslist. Sounds sorta sketchy, I know, but after meeting in person, all fears were gone. The prices were really reasonable, and came with a TON of touchup work. We also got a full DVD of every photo, in addition to the ones that were retouched. During the ceremony there werent any crazy antics like laying down in the aisle or climbing over chairs, we really didnt even notice them. Afterwards they took a lot of time to try and memorialize our special day, and it really showed in the shots that we saw. I wouldnt have any hesitation to recommend Carmen for your special day!

Melody has a true talent for catching the best parts of you in the best lighting. And she is both warm and inviting, but she will tell you exactly how to best get the shot. The venue is large and luxurious, brightly light and clean. You won't dawdle, this woman is all business and her experience is readily evident. She does children "growing up series", professional headshots, wedding-couple photos(??) - best guess - you have a photo need and Melody can oblige. Every single time I look at the photos she took I can't help but smile. Thank you Melody for getting a shot of a lifetime!

But it's clear to me, they just take whoever submits an application. The project was advertised as a free mini session (15 mins) with a 5x7 portrait included. I signed up and had to put a $200 deposit down. I was annoyed by this - since it was advertised as "free." I got to the studio and from the outside it looked a bit sketchy. I almost didn't go in. But, it was fine inside. I worked with Jake to do my session. He was nice, but he talked to me the whole time and wanted me to talk back. It shows in the pictures. I'm talking, my eyes are closed, and they are awkward. He wanted me to spin around and close my eyes at times. Very strange prompts. There wasn't much direction in terms of body position. I felt awkward. You can tell in the photos. He wanted me to lay in the ground which felt really strange to me. I felt like a little girl and I'm 40. Def not the right pose for someone my age! I went through the photos the next day with Elena. She was helpful. But, I have to say, I HATED most of them. They used a really low angle when shooting most of the photos and it made me look like I had a huge double chin. I also felt the extra "10 lbs" the camera added. We narrowed 150 photos down to 2 or 3 that I kinda liked, but didn't love. Then she started talking to me about pricing. I couldn't believe the costs!! They charge $599 for 1 digital print. ONE! Unreal. No way I was going to pay that for a mediocre photo of me. So, I just got the freebie. Then they said it takes up to 6 weeks and I haven't heard back yet. Not a good experience!!! It felt like a bait and switch. Here's this free session - oh JK - that'll be $600! I don't recommend.

My older child has the worst "fake smile," and Allie was able to get him to forget that she was taking pictures and he had a great time and was smiling very naturally. The only reason I'm giving Allie and her business 1 star was because she did show up and take the photos. Good luck getting your photos or getting any timely response from Allie.

First, we were late (I still haven't figured out how to account for DC traffic) - Erin was very nice/gracious about it. Then, each of my siblings and I had specific ideas in mind and were fairly demanding about what we wanted (4 adults who all have their own taste/thoughts = a lot of discussion about what to do or not do). Erin stayed up-beat and had great recommendations when people got stuck for poses or couldn't agree on what to do. Finally, she did a great job touching up the photographs for small errors such a bra strap showing or puffy under-eyes in the close-up photographs. I would recommend her to anyone looking to get a family photo-shoot. She has the perfect attitude for handling demanding people and she gets great shots.

I have never met a more unprofessional wedding photographer, and I have years of experience of…read morebeing an assistant to a wedding photographer. This woman showed up in a t-shirt style jumper and sneakers to start. Comfort and mobility are important working, but so is blending in with a formal environment of a wedding. She was frazzled and didn't provide any direction and didn't have a plan, even though she was supposedly familiar with the venue and should know what photos she planned on taking. While, we, the bridal party was getting hair and makeup done for the wedding, she was snapping stills of the brides accessories for close to an hour. Where did she take these photos of the accessories? On the floor in the bathroom. This caused her to break my 1890s diamond and pearl pendant that I was loaning the bride into multiple pieces. I have no idea if she stepped on it or knelt on it moving crap around, but when confronted she insisted it was in pieces when she was taking photos already. It wasn't, I had check it that morning before she touched it and the chain was found on the floor in the bathroom. The rare, baroque nature pearl was never found. I had no recourse because she deleted any photos that would have shown the whole necklace. She didn't even try to find the missing pieces or apologize. When she did finally get around to taking photos of the bridal party, well behind schedule, there were zero instructions. No one knew what photos were being taken, no one knew where to go for the photos. The bride had a surprise for the groom that she knew about, but was no where to be found when it showed up. She kept directing us to walk through the grass in heels and then would change her mind once we got there so we had to keep going back and forth in muddy grass getting our dresses and shoes dirty. She didn't do any photography basics of staging and posing the bridal party, flooding the dress or giving any direction on how to stand, turn and face her for good photos. There is some actual skill in taking a good photo, not just relying on photoshop to do it all for you. It is also not the bridal parties responsibility to set up the photo. I have never had to do so much work being the subject of the photo. The other wedding aids who have worked with her in the past confirmed that she is always behind schedule and less than professional. During the reception she was in the way of everyone dancing trying to get photos. Wedding guests were having to constantly move around her. Even without her destroying an heirloom necklace, she is not someone I would ever hire. I will say the bride and groom turned out beautiful, they are beautiful people and it's not hard to capture that. Following this review, they were contacted and begging to have it removed, so I did edited it. Once again they failed to take accountability for their mistakes and use a negative review to do better. Everyone deserves a chance to improve, but if they aren't willing to listen to criticism they never will. I wait to give reviews until I am no longer livid with the experience and can give a fair and accurate review. You don't have to be a paying customer to have a horrible experience with a business. Do better.

She took the time to ask what I wanted and really wanted to know what I wanted to get from my photos. She asked about my details and what style I wanted. She was extremely sweet and from that phone conversation alone I could tell she had a true passion for wedding photography. Pamela wasn't just my wedding photographer, she was a friend. I booked her about a year in advance and she checked in periodically throughout that year. We had several interactions leading up to the day (phone, email, in person) where she spent time helping me plan the ends and odds of my wedding, she even helped me come up with my wedding timeline. She also visited my venue to brainstorm ideas before the big day and even sent me an itinerary. She really thinks of everything! On my wedding day, Pamela & her assistant Sergey (I hope the spelling is right) were phenomenal. They got a ton of great pictures and came up with a lot of amazing ideas for photos. They both are extremely detail oriented. They made sure my train was perfect at all times, that Matt's tie was straight, you name it, they saw it. At the end of the night, they even offered to stay later to get additional photos. I am extremely grateful for those two. I then received my wedding photos within 2 weeks, not just your standard preview or sneak peak but ALL of them and on top of that they look AMAZING. Thank you Pamela! I can't wait to get another excuse to use you in the future!
