Oxana was easy to talk to regarding the details of the shoot and even easier to work with the day of the shoot. My two year old did not want to cooperate but you would never know from the gallery of photos she provided. Every picture captured a happy loving family and this was by far my favorite maternity shoot of any of my three previous kids! I was so blown away by the end product that we connected right after the birth and scheduled the newborn session as well. Needless to say, another miracle was performed. HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for a relaxed and fun photoshoot with a timeless and beautiful end product.

Some reasons we love Julie: -The pictures turn out great (the ultimate goal after all) -They were convenient to get done (she can come to your home - so important when you have a newborn and aren't sleeping) -Julie provides great directions on posed shots (though she also took plenty of natural shots too) -She provides photos faster than the industry standard - for us, she sent the preview photos the day after the shoot and the final photos less than a month after a shoot (key when you have a baby that's growing so fast) For our maternity photos, Julie took the photos a 5 minute walk from our townhome, so the location was very convenient. But the photos are angled to largely not include buildings so it looks like a beautiful woodsy area. She also took the photos at the end of the day so the lighting is perfect. For our newborn photos, you can either go to Julie's home near Vienna metro for photos, or she can bring the studio to you. She also asked for my input ahead of the shoot on which color themes I'd like for the newborn photos, which I really appreciated since we were able to think about outfits for ourselves that worked with those colors. The newborn session includes a complimentary family mini session, which resulted in the best picture that has ever been taken of our family (imagine coordinating smiles on multiple people including a toddler). Actually, we are planning to order a big canvas print of our family photo because we're so in love with it! We almost didn't get maternity and newborn photos done but now that we've seen how great they turned out, we can't imagine not having them.

What I've learned after 4 babies, is that a good photographer is worth the price. Moments float by quickly and the next best thing to a time machine is a great photo. In the end, Naz is not expensive. She is upfront with her prices. Other photographers can either be subpar or will up sell you once their session is over. I will tell you that I hate pictures and am very critical in the way I look in them. I was surprised at how great i looked. My oldest has the most unnatural smile, kid #3 thinks he's funny and will do the opposite of what you ask and the baby hates strangers. I thought it was going to be the worse day ever. She worked with me to narrow down our location and vision (I was scattered and had a lot of conflicting ideas) -- all with patience, calm and a steadiness that made me feel super confident with our final plan. Did I mention, I kept changing my mind on everything...?! Naz is super creative, personable and has a magnetic presence that makes you feel completely at ease. Even my super wiggly, active and spazzy 2-year old (who, at the time, was a late walker and just getting a handle on moving around on his own) sat still for and gravitated toward the camera. And, with BIG smiles! I couldn't believe it. She has a sharp and very keen eye and was able to capture our family's true essence perfectly. She had so many great ideas but was also very open to our ideas. We returned again when our daughter was about 4 weeks old. Melissa was so patient and ensured our little one was warm and comfortable throughout the shoot. The pictures were phenominal, the lighting perfect, and the customized baby announcements were so unique and more beautiful than what we could have found online. I went to Melody Yazdani for their Unfiltered project. On Instagram they made it seem like you…read morewould be "chosen" for the project after submitting an application. But it's clear to me, they just take whoever submits an application. The project was advertised as a free mini session (15 mins) with a 5x7 portrait included. I signed up and had to put a $200 deposit down. I was annoyed by this - since it was advertised as "free." I got to the studio and from the outside it looked a bit sketchy. I almost didn't go in. But, it was fine inside. I worked with Jake to do my session. He was nice, but he talked to me the whole time and wanted me to talk back. It shows in the pictures. I'm talking, my eyes are closed, and they are awkward. He wanted me to spin around and close my eyes at times. Very strange prompts. There wasn't much direction in terms of body position. I felt awkward. You can tell in the photos. He wanted me to lay in the ground which felt really strange to me. I felt like a little girl and I'm 40. Def not the right pose for someone my age! I went through the photos the next day with Elena. She was helpful. But, I have to say, I HATED most of them. They used a really low angle when shooting most of the photos and it made me look like I had a huge double chin. I also felt the extra "10 lbs" the camera added. We narrowed 150 photos down to 2 or 3 that I kinda liked, but didn't love. Then she started talking to me about pricing. I couldn't believe the costs!! They charge $599 for 1 digital print. ONE! Unreal. No way I was going to pay that for a mediocre photo of me. So, I just got the freebie. Then they said it takes up to 6 weeks and I haven't heard back yet. Not a good experience!!! It felt like a bait and switch. Here's this free session - oh JK - that'll be $600! I don't recommend.
