I worked with the makeup artist who he recommended. I was terrified to get my makeup done because I had previously never had a positive experience, but Cori did such amazing, natural work. She is definitely my go-to person if I ever need my makeup done again. After makeup, we tested a couple shots for angles, etc., and then Jon started coaching while photographing. His approach ensures that the camera captures your authentic self. He brings out your confidence and poise in the shots. I was so impressed because I had never seen myself like I did in these photos. I brought a few different outfits so I had many options to choose from when it came to selecting the photos I wanted to keep. It was extremely difficult to narrow down the ones I wanted to purchase on the spot, but I feel confident that I made the right selections. Jon also went above and beyond, working with the retoucher to fix my hair in one portrait that I really loved. I highly recommend him for headshots and portraits if you are in the DC Metro Area!

He has ensured that I will be taken seriously as a professional thanks to these headshots. For someone who doesn't love taking photos (case in point: my soon-to-be former LinkedIn profile picture is a selfie from, oh, almost a decade ago), I am looking at a batch of 'em that make me re-think my aversion to the camera lens. It almost looks like I am a natural! That's because Dennis was able to make me feel comfortable and relaxed, which definitely shows up on film. When you're laughing and talking about things you like and are important to you (e.g., rescuing a Corgi pup, eating super fiery spicy foods, traveling the world), your face shows it, and your smile changes. What an expert Dennis is for knowing that, and knowing exactly how to capture those micro-moments when your eyes capture that grin, and your smile catches that light. When I got to his home studio, Dennis explained how the shooting process would work, what options I'd have in terms of background and lighting, and even showed me a few sneak peeks that put my mind at ease. He's also extremely communicative via email, and is just the utmost professional on all levels. I had marked Dennis in my Yelp bookmarks for years, and now I'm kicking myself for not having gone to him earlier... so don't make the same mistake I did: book him NOW! You won't be disappointed.

My wife and I looked long and hard before confirming on a photographer for our wedding. Something…read moreabout Modern Frames really appealed to us. They just weren't like the other wedding photographers out there! Eric the owner from Modern Frames (such a cool guy) was so easy to work with! Unfortunately, he wasn't available for our wedding date but had a colleague he strongly recommended. We trusted him to set us up with Alex. Even though Alex would be shooting our wedding, Eric would still do the editing portion. So we agreed! We set up a few meetings with both Eric and Alex, and both are such laid back, chill and easy to work with guys. We immediately felt comfortable with them. The wedding day was great. It ended up being extra hot, humid and darker than the usual Spring day we've had in DC. But Alex made it work. He also kept a lot of us calm and comfortable during all the shoots. Alex stayed almost the entire day, even though the agreement was that he could leave earlier. But you could tell he really wanted to capture everything perfectly. All the wedding guests loved him as well! In the end, the photos came out great. BOTH Eric and Alex are very creative and truly skilled artists! We've decided we would continue to use Modern Frames in the future for any other needs we run into! STRONGLY recommend them!!!

Let me tell you, hiring them was one of the best decisions we made, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Communication/Responsiveness: Eric wrote back to our initial email *ten minutes* after we sent it (!), confirming he and Alisa were free on our date and suggesting we schedule a Skype meeting. They were super responsive to all of our questions and concerns. They got our engagement photos back to us in less than 2 weeks, and our wedding photos in 3 weeks. Personality: Eric and Alisa are really nice people and a ton of fun to be around! They made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, and they were down for all of my crazy requests (like a giant group shot with every guest at the wedding). The Photos: SO GOOD. We wanted pictures that would capture the feel of the day, rather than looking like a magazine shoot, and that's exactly what we got. My aunt and uncle dancing, grinning ear to ear. My friend's two-year-old stealing the show in his tiny bow tie and suspenders. Us attempting to cut the cake and getting the knife stuck. All of the people we love in one place, smiling, dancing, talking, and having a great time - they captured it perfectly. (We also did formal portraits and family group shots, which turned out great as well.) I'm so glad we chose Eric and Alisa - the process of working with them was great, and the results were phenomenal. I highly recommend them.
