I don't do many online reviews, but I have to give credit where credit is due for the Ice Dam Guys…read more Had some pretty gnarly ice damns on our roof after some record setting snow in Bend, OR, that led to some inside leakage. Turns out people from Minnesota know how to deal with this much snow and ice more than Bend natives and the Ice Dam Guys had setup shop here in town for a bit. Luckily for us, we saw them working on a nearby house, gave them a call and was able to setup an appointment for 8AM the next day. Kyle shows up promptly at 8AM and was just about the nicest person you can imagine and proceeds to spend the next 6 hours 35+ feet up on the roof steaming the ice damns. There was a discrepancy between what we thought was going to be the hourly rate and what was actually on the bill. After a phone call with Jay, we chalked it up to a miscommunication... likely we misunderstood what he said, because after some research it certainly appears the hourly rate has been $475 awhile. The thing is, he didn't want to leave a bad taste in our mouths thinking that we were being duped. He didn't have to do this at all, but he met us slightly above what we thought the hourly rate was to make things right. He did this knowing that the chances of us needing repeat business from them is virtually zero (the last time we had this much snow in Bend, OR was 1901). Companies that care for customer service over the bottom line are few and far between these days and should be applauded and promoted, so this is the very least I can do. I couldn't recommend them more.

Aside: turns out the decision by the previous owners to build a house with vaulted ceilings and the bare minimum insulation between the ceiling and the roof creates the prefect recipe for ice dams! After frantically searching, and calling a few options, we went with Ice Dam Guys for a few reasons: 1) they answered the phone and were willing to work with us on scheduling 2) they have an INCREDIBLE website that covers & educations on everything ice dams 3) they had someone out QUICK The guy that came out (Nick) was super cool and gave it to us straight. He got right to work too. He listening to my concerns, strategized the best options, and together we formulated a plan of attack. But what was really great was that he kept checking in with us along the way, confirming he should continue. Real talk: it's expensive AF ($700 per hour). But they get the job done. Advice (and this is on their website too): work preventative measures as much as you can so you don't have to donate a kidney for their services. (I now "rake" my roof every time it snows... which is so. annoying. but it keeps the Ice Dam Man... Guys... away) If you're in need of their services they are the real deal. Layne came to our home and did an excellent job explaining the different rebate options, financing plans, and the entire insulation process. He made everything easy to understand and stress-free. Alexis and Tarik handled the actual work. They removed all of our old attic insulation, sealed any openings, and installed new insulation that helps repel mice and bugs. The next day, they returned to insulate the walls. They arrived on time, were respectful of our home and furnishings, and left everything clean when they were done.
