I think I've been going to DBK for nearly 20 years now. Hard to believe. Most of my friends also go to DBK as it's truly a neighborhood spot. Frank and Fari have worked hard to build a welcoming, professional salon. My daughter also has her favorite stylist Ace who she travels from downtown to see, because she loves the way he does her hair. I go to Frank, and have always gotten top notch service. He takes the extra time to ensure my "mature" hair is optimally covered, and knows exactly how I like my hair styled. He stays up to date on the industry trends, and offers new ideas if he thinks my hair would benefit from them. I feel like I get downtown service, close to home. I'm offered a cappuccino, get a wonderful treatment, and don't feel pressured to buy products. I don't believe their prices are any higher than downtown, but do know that if you don't want the full service, you can ask for that - like not wanting a full style - just a blow dry, or color just on the roots, not pulled through etc. I tend to go every other month, and do my own touch up in between to save on costs. I hope Frank never retires, but if he does, I'm sure I'll be in good hands with either a family member, or someone else from their growing team. read more

DBK Salon is the perfect blend of service, style and value for money. The stylists (I have used several of them for cuts and styling) are all very capable and extremely friendly and respectful of their clients' views and preferences, while still being creative and on trend. Candy does my colour and she is very talented and much sought after for her outstanding technical and artistic skills in identifying and achieving the perfect shade or colour effect for each individual client. The salon is immaculately clean and has a relaxed but upbeat vibe. The receptionist is always friendly and accommodating - quick to offer cappuccinno and water and to ensure that everything runs efficiently. It is hard to find a salon where all the stylists get along well and there are no overpowering egos that set the tone, but this is one. The only challenge is the parking on a weekend thanks to the Longos store in this same mall which never has enough for its own needs, but you will find a spot somewhere and it is well worth this minor inconvenience. I find the prices very reasonable considering the high level of expertise provided. I give DBK full marks on every count. read more

I was wowed by the service and professionalism. I did at home a root touch up and by accident I applied a wrong colour so my roots turned out purple. I was so scared and immediately went to DBK in my neighborhood for help without an appointment. Frank greeted me and assured me that he will take care of my hair and get it fixed. He has been a professional for about fourty years ! He explained to me the treatmemt and I felt confident that I will have a great hair again. Given their busy schedule I had five people taking turns working for three hours.( had so many foils on my head ) . Everyone was so courteous. I was so pleased with the final result. Why am I writing this review after much time has passed? Because I am still dealing with the terrible consequences of my last visit to DBK. I requested a few simple highlights at the front of my face- not highlights all over. The stylist reviewed my request with me. She ended up highlighting my entire head with white blond highlights on very dark brown hair. The owner took over and tried to correct the colour. I'm sure he could see that he failed at warming the highlight colour at all. He was pressed for time and insisted this was a good result. I was left with the colour still bright whitish blonde. Awful. When the owner cannot correct the mistake and adds insult to injury by charging me $200 plus I obviously encourage others to be weary. My fault that I paid the $200 they had the nerve to charge me. read more

Frustrated by years of unsatisfactory hair cuts, I walked into DBK on the Longo's Plaza, and, luckily, they were able to accommodate me right away. Given my past experiences, I hoped but didn't expect to be happy when I left. I was used to walking out of a salon with great-looking hair, and discovering all of the cutting flaws when I washed it myself. Cat cut my hair. We discussed my hair type, my face and head shape, and I asked her to use her own judgement as to what would suit me. Did I walk out of the salon happy - I did! Was I still happy after I washed my hair myself - absolutely! Am I still happy a couple of weeks later - very! I liked the salon, I liked the coffee, and I especially liked Cat. We hired DBK Salon to provide hair styling services for our wedding, and we are so happy we did! The entire process was wonderful, from their prompt and helpful response to my inquiries, to the booking, trial, and end result. They were able to send 2 stylists, Amanda and Vicki, to our hotel, where they arrived well on time and prepared, ensuring they met all our needs and the timeline. I sort of ended up at DBK by accident but am so happy I did. After the salon I had an appointment for cancelled the night before, I was upset and frustrated. After looking at the reviews I thought I would give DBK a call and see if they could fit me and my mother in at the last minute. They were great! They got both of us in and we're both very happy with our haircuts. We were greeted with coffee and had amazing scalp massages. Victoria did my haircut and took the time to explain how I could improve my very fine hair and also styling tips so I could get the same look when I do my hair at home. I had the best experience at DBK salon! My hair had been over processed by another salon with a lot of bad discoloration in the back of my hair. I trusted Frank, who has many many years of experience as a color specialist and he saved my hair! He neutralized all the brassy orange tones in my hair, coloured my roots and gave me a fantastic cut! I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to receive high quality professional hair services. I have been going to DBK for years. When you enter the salon you are greeted nicely. The staff is very friendly and always checking on their clients. Faiza is my stylist and I have had nothing but great experiences. She listens to me and makes an effort to know me and make the best decisions for colour and style. She works really well with me. I absolutely love my colour and cut. She is friendly and attentive. My children also go to DBK and they keep coming back even though they are not always in the city. I have been going to the Victoria Terrace location of DBK Salon for almost 10 years. They are friendly, professional and offer great spa services as well as hairdressing. I would never consider going anywhere else. If you are looking for discount pricing then this isn't the place to go. It's close to what you would pay in downtown Toronto at an upscale salon but this because they use current techniques, have skilled stylists and do everything they can to make you feel relaxed and pampered. Initially I found DBK because I was searching for Kerastase products and have been a client since 2007 (it's been so long I am guessing). The DBK team is professional and amazing, the customer service and client support is outstanding. Every stylist is well trained and coached - because of this I recommend DBK to all my friends - please be honest with them about your budget and expectations to align with the right level of stylist/expertise. I've been moving around from hair salon to hair salon, never really finding a stylist who really did a good job warranting a review. However, I recently went to Dbk Salon since its really close to my new apartment, and was so surprised at the results. Not only were the staff pleasant, which is pretty normal anywhere, but my stylist Jason was absolutely delightful. Not a lot of small talk, which I appreciate because I find it a bit awkward, but the way he cut, washed, and styled was fantastic. Candy is the best...I tried a few stylists in this salon, ... don't get me wrong...the cuts were nice enough, but my color, not so much....not exactly what I was looking for. So I thought I would give it one more kick at the can & simply asked the lovely gentleman at the desk who has funk...LOL Candy definitely has funk, & did what I asked for & some.... I've been going to Emerson (senior stylist) for a very long time. I moved out of the area 4 years ago and have been trying to find a hair stylist that is closer. I just went back to him for a wash, cut and style. I was not disappointed. Staff are very friendly as well. I also brought my two year old daughter for her first haircut. I am very happy with the service I recieved for my daughter and myself. It may be a bit pricey but I find its worth it. Good hairstylists are hard to find. He's always able to do my hair the way I want it done, in the healthiest way possible (without damaging my hair). I've gone from long hair to short hair, from brunette to blonde. He's the best! My recent visit to DBK Salon was one of the most enjoyable experiences to date. I received an amazing head massage from Frank. It felt as if all my worries and stresses just melted away as I relaxed.
