BUT, we love the German Weinstrasse for the beauty of the villages and scenery. We happened upon Weingut Helmut Schreieck last fall and they were having a wine tasting. We discovered a very nice peppery Merlot and a divine Sauvignon Blanc! We were very impressed :) We went back today to restock. It is possible to stay there as they have B&B type rooms available. Might need to try that someday.

It's an old building in the city of Neustadt an der Weinstraße. It dates back to the 1500 in some…read moreparts and is a beautiful old Fachwerk building. It has only 6 rooms and a nice breakfast room, bar and the one Michelin starred restaurant Urgestein. The rooms are cozy and have a nice bed. The room is fairly basic but nice. It's a hotel without a lift and the rooms are on the second floor with steep narrow staircase. It's a hotel where there is tiny reception and it's closed most of the time until you ring the doorbell. There is also no parking here and there is a car park very close by you can use. I really enjoyed my stay here and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. I would come back here any day.

There was a mini bar in the room and the prices were very reasonable. The staff was welcoming and provided a breakfast buffet in the morning that offered a lot of selection. This hotel is a good value for the money and I recommend it highly. Dieses Hotel war sauber und gut aufgehoben. Das Zimmer war hell und hat alles was man braucht. Das Frühstück Buffet war top und hat eine große Auswahl. Diese hotel is hervorragend und kann ich nur weiter empfählen.
