Gainesville Kickball can't even manage itself. It's turned into a league with four teams and one…read moreref that can't even explain the same rules twice. Not worth the time and hope a regulated league would be able to support or at least have more than one person to ref their championship games. Swamp Sports is a much better and maintained league for kickball in Gainesville. Truly a let down after years in the league.

Gainesville Kickball is an absolute blast! The league switches days from either Wednesday nights…read moreor Thursday nights. The people are what make this league fun! It may get competitive at times but everyone is out there to work hard and win games. I have played on two teams so far in both Summer A and Summer B. The leagues anywhere from 5 to 6 weeks or in the fall they do 8 to 9 weeks. You play one game each night and the league will send out scheduled to all who sign up. The league is not very expensive and you pay to use the park and for the tee shirts and other stuff. At the end of each season they do a tournament to see who wins. The winners get a trophy as well as get to go on a bar crawl with Florida Fun Bikes. Kickball is so much fun and you really get to know people in the community! I highly encourage anyone to go check it out! I am sure you will have so much fun!

No complaints, really. I came here to both lap swim and to dive. For diving, they have two 1-meter…read moreboards and one 3-meter board. The lifeguards, though young, are very professional and good at their jobs plus prompt to answer any questions. There's ample room for lap swimming plus a children's shallow kiddie pool and another shallow area for people to just splash around if not lap swimming--plus the diving well. Some reviewers have commented on high school swim teams coming here to practice: apparently the deal is for some to come here, some to Westside, some go to UF as well. Until the School Board builds its own aquatics facility (unlikely), that will probably be how things go. (Whereas Jacksonville high schools in contrast have their own swimming pools on site in many cases.) School swim teams need places to practice, so this is a logical solution and I don't see it as impinging much on other patrons. Other reviewers (here and elsewhere) have complained some kids are loud and disrespectful: I did not experience that, yeah, kids can be loud but all I encountered were very polite. The locker rooms: the men's locker room is indeed old, probably original. I did not find it dirty however. Unlike the renovated Westside (Cherry) Pool, it actually has enough lockers to accommodate for two swim teams--or probably more. That's important if you're having meets here. I don't think Westside with its renovations provides that level of locker room space. So, as a diver and swimmer, no complaints here. Yeah, it's not a brand new nor renovated facility but clean and well-run: it meets my criteria certainly.

Our children have been involved in Gainesville YSI for about four years now. Man how time flies…read more The entire league is composed of volunteers who have one simple mission: teaching children the fundamentals of soccer while making sure they have a great attitude about it. We have been fortunate enough to have landed on some really great teams. Sandy and her crew do what they can to ensure that siblings are either on the same team (if their age grouping works out) or that they at least are on teams that share the same practice field, making life so much easier for the parents. Nearly everyone is there to see the kids have fun. Sure, there can be some rather obnoxious parents that take the games a bit too seriously, but as a whole, everyone is extremely supportive and kind to one another. If you are a parent looking for a soccer league to put your kids in, YSI is definitely a good one. Two weekday practices, followed by a game on Saturday. The rare, occasional Sunday games are always after 2pm, so if you are active in a church, you won't miss out. They are also always accepting donations of used soccer equipment for the kids in the league who are in need. Good sponsors, great kids, and a fun way to spend early fall and late spring. Soccer season usually runs from late September to late November and picks back up around mid March until May.

Extremely well maintained and the staff were very pleasant. It was very inexpensive to play and all the grounds were great. The only draw back is the pro shop is very small with very few items to buy. But the grill was nice . This is one of the best college courses I have played at. Just beautiful layout. We had a blast and never felt rushed. Typically we ride but we walked that day and the course was very walkable. We were trying to play and make it to the game so they even had a place to shower and get ready for the game that was just blocks away.
