I loved the story how Tom the owner took out the Iowa car in memory of a dear friend because the car was still slotted to race after the owner had passed away. Tom and his Pitt crew broke three land speed records; but chose to put the owners name on the records being that it was his car. Randall, also jerked a few tears when he told us the surprise appearance by Tom's son showed up at his football game he was coaching in uniform. Tom's son had just returned from a hard fought tour in Afghanistan with 10th special forces group. The story was warming and he even let us start the car! Thanks again Randall for the tour, and great idea Tom to attach a tangible story to your love for cars.

The site is a little over a mile past Roughlock falls and all in a dirt road. You have to be watching for it but there is a small pullout and a metal sign. If no one is there you might drive right past it. If you get to an intersection you've gone too far. The location is right along the creek. If you are familiar with the movies final scene where Dunbar leaves the Sioux tribe from their winter camp, this is where it was filmed. Looking around it's a little hard to pick up on the exact locations but I think we got a few. The longer you spend there and kind of explore they come to mind. Even if you aren't familiar with the movie, it's a pretty spot and neat to see a location where filming of this Oscar winner took place.

Learning about this place made me appreciate the community they have here. The staff here were decorating for the Halloween season and they were all very friendly. I love any business that offers free and low-cost items to draw you in because then even if you lose you still feel like you got something out of it. We were informed that they actually did not have any pet-free rooms but were assured that by then putting us on the top floor we would be as far from any rooms that have had pets in them as possible. I was stunned to walk out of my room this morning and see a couple get off the elevator with an enormous dog! This is the off season and there is no way that this hotel is filled to anywhere near capacity , so why they would send someone with a pet up to the top floor is beyond me. I'm very disappointed that the hotel would put my wife's Health in jeopardy

We showed up at 5:30-5:45 for early dinner at the restaurant. No reservations. Yes it was Sturgis…read morerally bike week, and yes should have made reservations but we didn't, that is why we went early. Standing at host desk. Looking into dining room, 3 maybe 4 tables seated, rest are empty. My odds are good! "Can we have dinner?" I asked with a smile. - Do you have a reservation? - Sorry we don't. "Ahh, sorry we are fully booked." At first I thought he was joking, you know lifting the mood a bit. Nope, dead serious- sorry we are booked. I look at him, look over his shoulder into empty dining room, back at him. - Nothing? - You can have food at the bar on second floor, but we are booked up here. "We are here through tomorrow, you have anything for tomorrow early?" - Sorry, fully booked. You need to make reservations months in advance. (I should mention, we had a gift card for this place, we live in CA, go to Sturgis every year for bike rally, so someone got us a gift card for this place.) I remember being in Sturgis in 2019 and 2020 during covid shutdown, all the restaurants were appreciating business we brought in. Well, that was then, this is now. We are booked he said with an empty dining room behind him. Went to a different casino, they too were booked and no walk ins but the difference was that second casino restaurant was proper booked, every table was full. So went to a third casino and had a steak there. I get it, you are booked, but with 75% empty dining room that just sounds like you are not interested. Anyways, it sounds like a lovely place and very popular so be sure to book in advance. For us- we gona skip it next year.

This hotel is a simple no frills place to stay while in this area of the country. The bunkhouse is not a casino per se. they have slot machines and the like but no gaming tables etc. During our stay there was one stand out employee, Patrick George. He was always happy, pleasant, and provided outstanding customer service! He was a joy to interact with on a daily basis. I will definitely be returning here next year for the Sturgis event!
