One night, I went to the infamous haunted Hotel Defuniak Hotel. Won a lot of cool prizes. I even…read moregot to see Room 8 where the hauntings occur. It is said a man in a top hat, a lady in a blue petticoat, and children ghosts roam around the place. Thinking of planning a fun ghoulish spend a night party with my friends in a room here one day. Spirits with spirits... Since the 1920s, The DeFuniak Hotel was known to have a haunted suite. Many guests have reported that Room 8 is very active. Known as the "Aviary Room," both housekeeping and guests have reported witnessing the ghosts of two children. Some have claimed to hear the children singing nursery rhymes in the middle of the night. You may also often find toys that are left for them soaking wet or mysteriously placed under the bed upon waking. Some think that their mother drowned the two children in the bathroom. Special thanks to Christina, Chef Ernie, Stephanie, and the staff there.

I have never ever seen a room so unsanitary. There is a lot to like about this cute-looking place,…read morebut the star here is because the room was clearly not cleaned, and it was it appears it's not just a fluke, based on other reviews and the multiple areas in the room. The bed had clean sheets (other than the bugs) and the bed had been freshly made - but otherwise, I was afraid to touch anything. Both the shower and sink had debris, trash, and other patrons' hair in it. I didn't get a pic of the sink but it had the same hair in it. The bed had someone's used contact lens on it, right by the pillow area. There were live bugs in the bed. See photos. The bug in my photo was there on my pillow when I woke up the next morning. After I jumped up and shook the pillow - it ran just under the pillow area - that's what you see in the pic. If these things hadn't been taken care of, I can't trust anything else is clean, so I would definitely not stay there again. My stay was about a month ago. I held off on the review, hoping someone internal would reach out for feedback, but no one did.

I booked this room 4 adults and 2 infants..If you turn your towels in the a.m. dont expect New Ones till about 6p.m.When you spend the day in the pool your ready for a shower. THE SO CALLED MANAGER FOR THE TOWELS WALKED IN MY ROOM after my husband asked for some towels, while I was in the shower by the way.. Yelling at my Husband saying " WE CANT STAND YOU PEOPLE", Calling my Husband a liar, that we already got towels. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME he asked for towels, never in my life have I experienced any Behavior like this, muchless at a Hotel.. I told him to get out that this was inappropriate for him to be in my room while I was in the bath, bath room door wide open(was waiting on my husband with a towel)..Wasnt expecting him to walk in to check on how many towels we had .. Really And Truly Im appalled, I took pictures of it all and my daughter recorded the encounter with the so called "Manager".. DO NOT GO HERE SAVE YOUR MONEY.. Cockroach infestation! I used Expedia to book a room here…read moreas we were traveling for 10 hours and needed a break for the night. The man checking us in had absolutely NO INTEREST in helping us. He had more interest in whatever was on his cell phone. Once we were able to get into our room, we immediately noticed cockroaches on the beds and walls! We immediately turned around and went to the front desk to report. I would have gotten pictures to prove our horrible experience, but we didn't want to hang around any longer. The man at the front desk could care less....because I made my reservation on Expedia, I've been on ENDLESS hold trying to get a refund! I am soooooo disappointed!

Economy is the word of the day here. I booked a last minute room for just one night and checked in…read morelast night at 9:30 PM. It was cheap and it was only one night, so how bad could it be? I had to ask! The hotel was pretty clean except for my pillowcase, but much of the equipment in the room and even in the office was broken. My toilet paper holder was broken, the shower drain was completely stopped up (and never drained by the time I checked out hours later), and the freezer in the mini-fridge needed defrosting so badly it was totally nonfunctional. The hair dryer barely worked either and the toilet was extremely loud. The lobby bathroom was out of order as well. The so called "continental breakfast" was a joke. Breakfasts like these are such a tease they should not be offered at all. It had toast, prepackaged pastries, cereal, oatmeal, and apples, not even the waffles or yogurt found at 90% of these bare bones continental breakfasts. I'm amazed the hotel is still in business. Offering inexpensive hotel rooms doesn't give the owner a pass on basic maintenance. But it wasn't all bad. It was quiet and the heat worked so I am thrilled at the good night's sleep I got.
