Room 117 10/20/16, wall damage
M P.

On par with Red Roof Inn. Pet friendly alright, with a daily $15 surcharge. How friendly is that? Room 117 should be a source of embarrassment. The smell was terrible and seemed to be a combination of cigarette smoke and dog pee. The Front Desk clerk, a teacher who works part time, makes a good impression. The fridge and microwave was appreciated as was plentiful hot water. Nothing else about this Inn makes a good impression though. Furniture is battered with no attempt of touch up. Carpet stained and filthy so much I did not let my bare foot touch it. The wall was battered and also without repair. Bedspreads well worn, they were removed folded and put aside right away. Oh wait one had what appeared to be dried poop on it. The sheets passed the cleanliness check, the blankets we're worn out three years ago as were the pillows. In testament to management or owners skillful ability to manage an Inn..there are one or two other things. The temp was 90 degrees, the pool was closed. Not merely closed but closed and covered. Planting beds have been filled with rocks..all of them. They are now home to rocks with weeds, the weeds didn't grow up overnight either. Most of the light bulbs in the fixture at the sink are burned out. Fixtures like towel bars have loosened and are wobbly. The tub liner is in good shape, the plug was removed and sitting on the tub side, it didn't move during our 2 night stay. What made the worst impression to me was seeing the $15 daily pet charge was not being used (in any way) toward additional cleaning or repairs. Is this just an additional revenue source for a poor operator? I'd say so. Dear potential guest...there are plenty of better choices in town.

Stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Harrison while visiting family in the area,…read moreand this was a very solid stay. The room was clean and had some nice features. I especially appreciated that the outlets were located in convenient places around the room, which makes a difference when traveling with phones, chargers, and devices. The air conditioning worked very well and kept the room comfortable all night. The common areas were also clean and well maintained. The lobby had a welcoming feel, the indoor pool area was bright and inviting, and the breakfast area was organized and easy to use. Breakfast was decent, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they offered a turkey sausage patty in addition to the regular breakfast items. One thing worth noting is that they no longer keep coffee makers in every room as part of their sustainability policy. Instead, they offer fresh coffee in the lobby 24 hours a day. It means a little extra walking, but the sign explained that it is part of their effort to reduce single-use waste, which I can appreciate. Also, the front desk can provide a coffee maker if requested. The only minor issue was that the downstairs beverage machine did not have a water option because that feature was broken during our stay. Overall, this was a clean, comfortable, and dependable overnight stop, and I would definitely stay here again. 117 Highway 43 E Harrison, AR 72601

Queen Anne House Bed & Breakfas

Let me just begin by saying this place is charming, true to the period, and Warren, the innkeeper,…read moreis a gem. He is kind, knowledgeable, and will help you find all the local attractions per your interests. But we couldn't sleep here. This house is allegedly haunted and our overactive imaginations wouldn't let us rest a single minute. We were visiting Arkansas for a wedding in November and decided to extend our visit one night to explore the beautiful Ozarks. The night was fast approaching and we found The Queen Anne House thinking it would be perfect as our first experience at a B&B. Everything was decorated authentically and we felt transformed onto a Victorian movie set. Warren showed us all the rooms and we ended up picking a room in the coach house. We were the only ones staying that night. After putting out delicious cheesecake for an evening snack and informing us of the entertainment room, Warren retired to his residence next door. This is when we started getting the chilly willies. Maybe we are too accustomed to the noises of city living. Maybe we watch too many scary movies. Maybe we should have arrived in the daylight and gotten a look before the shadows settled in. Maybe if we weren't the sole residents that night...but I'll have to admit, wandering around in a Victorian house at night is terrifying. And finding an episode of this house featured in a paranormal series in the entertainment room is unsettling. And further discovering paranormal businesses signed into the guest book pretty much sealed our conclusion that we were going to die that night. Nothing did happen that night. We pretty much frightened ourselves with every creak in the floorboards and made up moving shadows in our heads. The place is actually very lovely in the day. But beware, if you are jumpy city folk that are not down with the paranormal you might just not make it till morning.
