Restaurant view of the Ozarks is AMAZING. Every table has a view. The space is small but so is the parking lot. If you can park, you can probably eat. We had a small wait during the elk festival. Staff were friendly. Our group ordered chicken strips, fried catfish and a Reuben sand-which. Chicken strips are hand breaded, roll was a happy surprise (soft and crusty), green beans flavored perfectly. Fish and sand-which were good but not standouts. We also had coconut pie for dessert. It was not overly sweet for a pie and was made in house. They also have a gift shop. We came away with two of the seasonings they keep on the table. Came here as a teenager yrs ago with family, was overjoyed to see it is still alive and well & had the privilege to take my own boys. Insane viewpoint and delicious home-style meals, what more could you ask for especially if you're far from home and don't know where to eat comfortably. Added plus was the hummingbird feeders that were near some windows next to tables, what a special memory it was to be able to watch the little hummingbirds flutter around a few inches away! Kids were squealing with happiness. Sweet tea was refreshing as expected and you HAVE to try the mouthwatering fried green tomatoes with homemade ranch dressing. Such a cool spot with a beautiful view! They have a small gift shop inside and then dinning with a view. It definitely has a more quaint and homey vibe inside. The menu had a good amount of options. I decided to get the jumbo gulf shrimp and was a little nervous on how good it would be, but I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the shrimp and it was a good serving size for the price. The chicken breast strips were also good and did not disappoint. Our group was a little disappointed that they stop serving burgers at 4:00pm, so something to be attention to. The owners are very nice, and might know how to run a gift-shop, but this restaurant is a disaster. Expect to wait about an hour to be seated. Once we were seated, we watched the overworked waitresses hustle back and forth without approaching. They took orders and brought drinks to two nearby tables seated well after us. After 20 minutes, she eventually responded to our waves and took our order. Then the real wait began. When we politely asked for an ETA on our appetizer; she angrily said "It'll be ready when it is ready!" Of course I explained that if it didn't come before our food, please just cancel the appetizer. Then she was really miffed, as if that idea was crazy. My Chicken Fried Steak was the size of my ramekin; perfect for a slider. It was easily the smallest CFS we've ever seen. We eventually left hungry. The owner told us they have no control over the wait-staff, and they are "struggling like the entire country - it is terrible all over." False. The economy is bad, and good staff is hard to find - but he had 3 people behind the counter to work one register the entire 'meal.' Two of them needed to help serve. We eat all over the world, and this was the worst dining experience ever. The Cliff House is sold every few years; maybe it is time for new owners. Second night in Jasper we headed over to the Cliff House inn for some dinner. The parents ordered the catfish which looked really good, but I opted for the steak. Fried green tomatoes were fried perfectly and had that nice tart flavor. Definitely a great option for an appetizer. Atchafalaya steak...so on the menu it said filet... what I received was a very think cut ribeye. Slightly over cooked. I wanted medium, but never the less. The steak was smothered in a Cajun cream sauce on top of a bed of very tasty boudin! The dish as a whole worked well. I love some good boudin! Very rude. We walked in party of 8 at 10:15 on a Sunday morning and we got looks, head-shaking and huffing- puffing from the man behind the counter. After waiting a few minutes, our table was sat. Came here for our anniversary brunch while spending the weekend in Jasper. This is the place we will come eat whenever in the area again - SERIOUSLY!! I got the HAMLET, which is a slab of country ham topped with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes topped with melted cheddar. HOLY MOLEY! However, the cabin was not at all what we expected, especially for $160 for one night. It was a cold, cold night. The heat was not on. It took awhile for the cabin to reach a comfortable temperature. We appreciated that the cabin was clean with a lovely view. It is just EXTREMELY dated. A few upgrades will work wonders for the space! We also noticed that the bath towels smelled like cigarette smoke. While we will absolutely return to the restaurant for chicken & waffles, we'll find lodging elsewhere. read more

It's hard to even know where to start - the whole experience was memorable and amazing! The location and the views are breathtaking - I've never seen a view like this before! The gift shop is filled with treasures, and also with the spirit and personality of the owner. Okay - on to the food. We had a party of eight, five of us lifelong foodies and/or restaurant professionals- and everyone at the table was completely wow'ed by the experience. The food was delicious, perfectly presented, and every person at the table was talking about how good it was, sharing portions, and enjoying the experience thoroughly. My personal favorite was the razorback burger - succulent smoked pork, perfectly seasoned and cooked patty, and sauce that was out of this world. We also stayed in the Eagle cabin has a wonderful sunset view and is a really cute, private, cabin. Everyone was so nice and I can't recommend staying here enough. There's nothing we didn't like about this restaurant. Food, service and the view all were worth driving three hours for. I'd do it again!

First off, Customer service was an issue. The wife/owner was a very nice lady. Very pleasant. The husband / owner is arrogant, rude, and full of himself. The rooms were clean but sorely overdue for renovation especially the bathrooms. The food at the restaurant is undersized portions and over priced. The "special" was 50.00 including tax and tip per person. It was a one and done for me , mainly because of the owner. If I'm helping pay the bills don't bitch at me for trying to return your dam key before I left. His attitude was uncalled for. As we entered the gift shop the first words out of the owner's mouth were, "Don't be upset if service is slow. You can't hire help around here anymore!" A gorgeous view of the Grand Canyon of the Ozarks. It's definitely worth the stop. There's a back deck eating area that looks out over the canyon. I can't speak for the food as the wait was too long for us, but it smelled good and we wish we had stayed. They are known for their pies. Pull over if you're on your way into the Ozarks National Park, on Highway 7 just south of Jasper, for some great photo opportunities and stop at the small gift shop. read more

The Cliff House is such a great find! We recently visited for lunch on a Sunday with a group of 12. Obviously, it is in the middle of no-where and it is one of the only sit down restaurants in the area. It is certainly worth the drive out of town simply for the view! It is breathtaking. The restaurant is perched on the top of a large canyon. The entire restaurant facing the canyon is windows, so you can look outside while you eat. They also have a huge balcony patio expanding the entire length of the restaurant, with nice rocker benches to sit on. We called ahead and let them know we were coming with a large group. The Owner, who answered the phone, was very accommodating and said he would save us a table. Upon our arrival, he greeted us friendly, welcomed us, and explained the daily specials. Obviously we were with a large group, so I am just going to review the food that my husband and I ordered. It was so scrumptious. We always try to split two entrees so we can sample different things. He ordered the fried cornmeal catfish with coleslaw, fries, pinto beans, hot water fried cornbread, homemade tarter sauce and green tomato relish. Omg! Soooo good. The catfish was very hot and freshly prepared. The large platter came with 5 pieces of fish for $14.99. The pinto beans had ham hocks in them and were the best I have ever had. The coleslaw was lightly dressed and still crisp, the cornbread was crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, and the tarter sauce was the best I have had. It was laced with fresh dill and was well seasoned. They even had jalapeno ketchup for the fries! They really thought of every detail. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, which came with homemade cream gravy, mashed potatoes, and a daily veggie (green beans) with an angel flake biscuit. Everything was great. The chicken was a decent size of meat, and was well seasoned. The mashed potatoes tasted freshly mashed. I really enjoyed it. For dessert, I ordered a piece of the lemon buttermilk pie, which was creamy and tart. It had the texture of lemon curd and was not overly tart or sweet. My husband ordered a unique dessert called Company's Comin Pie. It was a meringue pie shell with nuts and crackers in it, and filled with fresh whipped cream and pineapple. So tasty! I have never had anything like it. It was not too sweet, which I expected it to be. The rest of our table seemed to like their desserts too. All in all, if you find yourself in the Arkansas mountains, Cliff House is a great place to go. There wasn't too many review written about the food, so hopefully this detailed review helps. I stopped here on my way from Little Rock to Branson. If you crave a side of Trump fascism and hatred with your very average but over-priced burger, boy...is THIS the place for you. They openly (and loudly) discuss their ignorant political views in front of customers. I guess they thought my camo shirt and my wife's plaid top invited them to speak openly. Everyone who worked there looked miserable, stressed and unhappy. There was an actual heaviness in the air from the time we walked in until the time we were thankfully finished and free to explore far less sad, and frankly far less "offensive" restaurants in Eureka Springs and Branson. The employees radiated an energy that seemed to suggest it is obviously very difficult for them to get out of bed and face another day. But I did feel sorry for my specific server. Again, if you want to start your vacation with a dose of anger, ignorance and incompetence (or if you're one of the 35% insurrectionist cult), by all means put this place on your bucket list. Great view though!!! I do have a recommendation. Next time you drive up to the Ozarks, take 65 instead. There is a FANTASTIC little unexpected cafe in Leslie called Skylark Cafe. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is great. And you'll leave with a feeling of lightness - like it ADDED to your overall Ozark experience. Unlike the Cliff House which makes you feel like you want to turn around, drive back to Little Rock, crawl back into bed and hope tomorrow never comes - just like the vibe their employees give off. I have no idea what the political affiliation is of the Skylark Cafe owners. And that's EXACTLY what I expect from a business I'm giving my money to. Or in Jasper, try the Ozark Cafe. It's clearly a very conservative kind of place - but they don't serve it on the menu like it's a side of pinto beans and I've always enjoyed my stops there. THEIR food is always great. read more
