In all the time that I have been going here, I never really associated my experience with any kind of hospitality, warmth, or basic customer service. Which, honestly, I didn't mind (I actually preferred it) because I am quite the introvert and I hate small talk, but today I experienced what could only be considered outlandishly rude. I was standing behind someone waiting for them to finish up ordering, and while I was trying to read the menu, one of the women who works behind the counter (who I'm pretty sure is also the owner) just screams at me, "ARE YOU GOING TO ORDER SOMETHING OR WHAT?!" After her outburst, she then stops herself and says sorry because she realizes how crazy that must have looked in front of the other customers. I smile and say, "It's alright," because I just figured she had a bad day, but for the duration of the interaction, this lady checking me out was curt and cold. So it made me believe that the decision to scream at me was very much intentional, considering she was very friendly to the customer who was before me when she was enthusiastically exclaiming, "Did it rain yet?" only to completely switch up with me. Maybe it's because she had a bad day. Maybe it's because she just isn't a friendly person to begin with. Maybe it was because I was the only Black person in there. Who can really say?
