CENTRA…read more The local Centra convenience store had now been open for about three years and is proving a hit. The hours are good, parking is excellent and so is the stock carried. You won't get everything that the likes of Dunne's or Tesco carry but you will get most of your requirements. Along with the usual groceries, they have a hot food section, a wine and beer section and carry a decent range of newspapers (including Sunday's). They also involve themselves in the community, mainly via sponsorship, and recently held a children's art competition. It is a bright store, well laid out, reputedly Centra's biggest in Munster. So its a spar but it's never called spar, it's always o'Sheas, nothing strange there, it does everything your normal spar does but it also does DVD rentals and then there is the Post Office in the back of the shop and that's where the uniqueness comes from, it's a multifunctional shop that caters for almost all of your needs! You can get your groceries, your entertainment for an evening including a bottle of wine and at the same time you can post a letter to your great aunt in somewhere or other and all in one shop! Brilliant! I like their little bakery type section in here by the way, they have chocolate doughnuts unlike any i have ever tasted, yummy doughy part with powdered sugar and inside is a runny delicious smooth milk chocolate, so very good and so very bad for you! Definitely something you should try when you go into this shop, ahhhh I need one now just thinking about it!

Aside from the giant convenience store offering a wide variety of merchandise, the service area also included a Circle K and a McDonald's. Although it is a service station open to the motoring public, I think a large part of our existence is due to the number of tour buses that stop here on a daily basis - much as we did. When touring on a bus tour, the tour operators design their route and stops to accommodate the "comfort needs" of their tour guests. For example, you left the hotel after breakfast and need either an attraction (tour stop) or a comfort stop before lunch. The same is true in the afternoon - you need either a scheduled attraction or a comfort stop before dinner. Dewsland Service Station served us well. Restrooms were clean, the store was well stocked and the service was quick and efficient.
