At least that was my excuse for calling. They had some bargains, one Australian Shiraz I had bought elsewhere before Christmas was marked down by three euro. The Penfold's Rawson Retreat range was also down by that amount and I treated herself (my excuse) to a bottle of Semillon Chardonnay. They also have huge ranges of spirits and beers but I didn't have time to check them all or the arms to carry them. Settled for a few beers on this occasion and am now looking forward to sampling Pilsner Urquell (€2.99), Rick Stein's Chalky's Bark Open (€2.99) and, from Oz, Hahn Premium (€1.89). My father always maintained that Bradley's had the best bottled Irish beer in town but they have now spread their wings and are well worth a visit. Service, by the way, was relaxed and friendly.

There are a few stalls selling things like candies/honey/jams, that were reasonably priced, so we bought a few of those to bring home as souvenirs. We spent probably about half an hour walking around and made it through the entire market. It was fun to walk around and see all the local goods/products, but don't expect a lot of options for good food if you're hungry.

No veggie burger will ever taste the same unless it's not homemade. The choice of toppings and bun was grand too. It seemed like a multi-grain bun. The patty was so rich in flavor. I was not impressed with the Shepherd's pie. It was just a mush of grains. I was expecting something similar to a veggie pot pie. It was good but it was a dish I usually make at home minus the top. The sides were quite natural - quick toss to cook them with minimal seasoning. If you are feeling healthy and not up for extreme flavor, this is a safe choice. The selection here also is much better and seems to have many of the higher end items you normally would only find at specialty shops or M&S. The only thing which bothers me about this place is the fact that for some reason around lunch and dinner time it is completely filled with elderly shoppers who for whatever reason congregate at those times and the queues come to a standstill. If you avoid those two times you will find the queues are not bad and the selection is brilliant.

Rather enjoyed the first mouthful but gradually the sweetness got to me and I didn't finish it. The Pualaner, which also produced an abundant head, looked promising but there was something about it, noticeable in the nose and just when you finished the swallow, a kind of clove like whiff. Not for me. The Budwar saved the day! Better colour, better body, better all round that the pale watery American version, it was a decent beer, more or less on a par with the three from the previous week

They have a stand alone restaurant too but this one is convenient because it inside the market. The staff is very friendly and the service was quick. I ordered the original gourmet sausages with all the toppings except mustard and relish. The meat was tender juicy and the bread was soft. With the toppings it made one delicious hotdog meal. If I had the cooler I would have ordered some fresh ones to go.
