That brought us to the Bokeelia fishing pier and boat ramp where we briefly parked our car (lots of "no parking" and "private parking only" signs, walked around, checked out the pier, and took some photos. It's really pretty here and there are plenty of opportunities for photos. And fishing, whether from the parking area or you can absolutely go out onto the pier. It's a great spot but if you're looking for a free pier, the one at the southeast corner of Cape Coral at the Yacht Club Park is nice too. [Review 13271 overall, 589 of 2020.]

Although the rebuilding process continues there's not much left here after the devastating hurricanes, the public access fishing pier has been totally destroyed and the sea wall has been mostly destroyed, the sandy shell road is riddled with potholes and standing water and the businesses that were on the point are severely damaged, close and abandoned. There are signs that this place will recover, the sea wall sheet pilings are being installed from barges and land based cranes before the sand can be hauled in to fill the voids. It's apparent that the entire island has taken a beating with the collapsing buildings and uprooted trees scattered about but there's no doubt about the resiliency of the people that call this island home so the restoration will continue. There is still a small parking area that allows you to fish from the concrete sea wall that remains intact and enjoy the beautiful sunsets, hopefully the fishing pier construction will begin soon so the area can return even bigger and better than before. I hope to return here when everything is restored to give the 5 star review it deserves...

We started to pull out of the bay and the guy called us to tell us "y'all started going the wrong direction but then I saw you turned and went the right way" which was not reason enough to call us?? Then, when we got back in four hours later, the same guy was giving us a hard time about a screw that came out of the rail that holds up the shade, and told us he might have to charge us (FOR A SCREW) that he then found in the floor two minutes later. We then paid with our card for "gas" but was charged $410.12, when we paid $309.38 for the reservation the day prior online. When we called him and questioned why we were charged 2 different amounts, he claimed to not find any of it in their system AND that we needed to report the $309.38 as fraud and if we "reported the $410.12 as fraud we will have a problem and I will be calling you." What the hell?! What problem? So we found a number attached to the $309.38 on the bank statement and found out that the boat rental uses the Mariana company to book online & they charge in person through their own system. After the second phone call to the guy, all of a sudden he found the $309 charge in his system that he claimed he did not see the first time & was very adamant that he went ahead and refunded the $309 before calling me back. All in all, the whole situation was annoying and very sketchy. 12/10 would not recommend, not even for a cheaper price, no.

I…read morehappened upon Sundance Sailing through a Groupon deal and called captain Dave to confirm he had available while we were in town, not only did he have availability he also honored the Groupon rate in person. We enjoyed our 4 hours out on the boat with Captain Dave and his "arms" Maria. It felt like an authentic sailing experience with a captain who clearly loves what he does. With that being said, I'm not sure I would recommend this or really any sailboat experience to a family with young children... my boys are 15 & 18 so it was a good fit for us. After reading some other reviews I feel it important to note: This is not a luxury sailing experience, you are truly sailing on the boat where the captain lives and being on a sailboat you are at the mercy of the wind, so it can be a slow go at times. If you stay open minded, go with the flow of the ocean and the wind you are sure to have a great time. Oh and bring lots of sunscreen!

Seats have splits with stuffing coming out, most of the access hatches had broken hinges, the throttles were in serious need of adjusting, the motor would randomly rev itself while in neutral, the "stereo didn't work" which in fact is the speaker wiring that looks to have burnt, the damn boat wouldn't go faster than 10 knots, they must have placed a governor to minimize speed, the horn didn't work so they put an air horn in the safety box, an airhorn I removed from the package, assembled as necessary and placed at the helm incase a situation should arise where I would need it, can you believe the bonehead at the dock called me out for having it out of the safety box, are you freaking serious? The operation of this place is an absolute joke, no one wants to take any responsibility for the problems we encountered, the knucklehead working the dock couldn't even provide me the number for his boss, he had to go look "Juan's" number up, I'm guessing it's a dead end number. I will be filing a complaint with my credit card company and the USCG for this fraudulent operation. Read the fine print in their rules/regs, there is NO situation where you will get a refund, NEVER!! They cancel your reservation if you don't pick up within an hour of your reserve time and hold you accountable for any slight deviation from their policies BUT don't dare expect them to adhere to any regulations they're expected to. EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF USCG REQUIRED EQUIPMENT ON BOARD THE VESSEL WAS EXPIRED SINCE MAY 2022, a violation I would be held accountable for had I been stopped and to worsen the situation my USCG active duty son was aboard this vessel, he'll be the individual addressing the MANY safety regulations they are violating as we noted SEVERAL on ALL OF THEIR VESSELS. I would strongly recommend you look for a responsible company, not a derelict fleet of boats that may or may not provide a safe and enjoyable boating situation, this is NOT that company. I am not including pictures in this post as they may end up being evidence for my credit card company but rest assured, everything I have mentioned here has a picture to represent the condition of these boats and the number of safety violations each one represents.
