I saw one swimming and it went right towards the guy's fishing line and attacked it as I predicted. For some reason he started to reel it in (I would have cut the line or waited and given him my rod if it started to climb the line). The snake "jumped" off the line and swam away under the bridge and into the dark part by the grass.....umm ok time for me to walk...fast....away. So be careful!

Sports complex - There are two baseball diamonds with covered dugouts for the players and bleachers for spectators. Adjacent to the diamonds are two regulation sized soccer fields with goals. There is also fields appropriate for younger athletes. Central to the complex is a concession stand run by volunteers in the community. A wide variety of beverages as well as snacks are offered. Some of these include sodas, juice, water, hotdogs, pretzels, nachos & warm cheese, etc. There are restrooms located in the same building as the concession stand. 2. Rachel's Fun For Everyone Park - This past year RFFEP became a reality to our community as well as its founder, Rachel Ritchie. The park is fenced in so as to contain the children and prevents them from running into the parking lot. The intention of the park is for our special needs friends within our town and neighboring towns as well. The equipment includes swings, slides, a rock-wall, seated zip-line, seesaws, tactile toys, benches and most importantly a soft surface pad to protect our friends from injuring themselves and allows wheelchairs/motorized/walking aides to travel safely from each piece of equipment. The park is for all of our little friends. 3. Parking - There are parking options available adjacent the park as well as the outside perimeter fence surrounding the soccer and baseball fields. 4. Picnic tables and over head cover are available for picnickers and travelers and are adjacent to recreational vehicle hookups. There is plenty of shade, walking areas and a stream that runs parallel to the park where people often fish. Each year the park hosts Vine Grove's Fall Festival, Bluegrass Festival, organized run/walks and other events. The only reason why I rated Optimist Park at four stars is because the bathrooms are small, sometimes messy, not stocked with soap/paper towels and does not offer a changing table.

They have had numerous events such as a music festival and let the local JROTC have an event there. The only issue I have is that the very back of the park is filled with graffiti, some including slurs. They have a soccer field that is maintained fairly well for youth soccer but the baseball field(s) are rarely used except for practice and a local match between police and fire fighters. Overall a good place to visit, but be wary of the loud train that comes by every once in a while. I would rate it 5 stars if it was not for the graffiti.

Some guy got loud & mouthy with me - yelling at me from a little distance about not having Iris on her leash, which was only for a fleeting moment. I thought about closing the distance and perhaps smashing in his face because, unfortunately, I used to have an extremely violent side, although only when pushed does the beast take over. So instead I smiled and waved and thought to myself "does he have any idea how lucky he is"? And we went about our merry way

This little hike was recommended to me after a snowstorm--which I definitely would not suggest…read more It's mostly uphill, and the wind turned everything into ice, making it really challenging to traverse. Outside of that particular experience (and once I was on the return down-hill), I realized this trail is short, simple, charming , and easy, with a few spots offering really pretty overlook views along the way. About halfway in, a babbling creek starts to follow you, hinting that you're nearing the final destination. Then you can hear the waterfalls before rounding a bend to reveal them. The falls are fantastic with multiple levels and a very peaceful melody. Just a heads-up: the trail begins with a walk down a service road since the original trail is now on private property, roped off as part of a very interesting-looking old house/building. At the end of the service road, there's a short but steep uphill path path to rejoin the trail. After that--smooth sailing.

I wasn't ready for that, but I made it! We got some beautiful pictures of the waterfall. The waterfall was easy to walk around in and can get wet if you wanted too. Great place to cool down as well. There was also a train track that we walked on and it was right over a creek. Very high up but cool to see. I would definitely go back to visit the trail. I will know more of what I'm getting into next time.

I feel so lucky that I visited Yew Dell Botanical Gardens on the last Friday of September. I…read morearrived around 4 p.m. without knowing that every last Friday of the month from 4-7 p.m. is their Happy Hour with free admission. It usually is $12 per adult. My wife and I could walk the trails and enjoy the beautifully landscaped flowers and trees at no cost. The atmosphere was fantastic, peaceful, refreshing, and uplifting. There was also live music outdoors, where people could enjoy food, wine, and beer in a lovely setting. This place is truly charming and relaxing. Now I know I've found a hidden jam. I'll look forward to visiting here on the Last friday of each month (April through October).

The grounds are gorgeous and so thoughtfully designed, with little nooks and trails that invite you to pause, notice, and breathe. There's a sense of calm and restoration here that's hard to find anywhere else. My entire family loves coming, and it's become one of our go-to places whenever we want to recharge or spend time together outdoors. Whether you're a gardener, a parent, or someone who just loves natural beauty, I can't recommend Yew Dell Gardens enough. It's a gem for the whole community.

I used to be a supporter of the police - son if 2 govt agents, but now, in my most law abiding years, something has changed with them, you lost your donations and respect is hanging on by a thread. Sterp slope back to front, wet and wild grass soaked my feet but I didn't mind. I had a wonderful chat with a woman who had been to many places I've been, up and down the coast. After about fifty minutes, we picked up and left, continuing our walk around the dog park, it was quite beautiful - blue grass is a real think, albeit not exactly blue.
